Chapter 191 - Mutilated Dolls and Security Lockdown
Hazel's POV
I drifted back to consciousness sprawled across the leather couch in Liam's office, his expensive suit jacket draped over my bare legs like a blanket. The memory of what we'd just done sent heat flooding through me again. He'd taken me apart completely, leaving me boneless and satisfied in the aftermath of our passionate encounter.
My eyes found him seated behind his mahogany desk, looking every inch the powerful CEO as he reviewed documents with laser focus. His crisp white shirt and charcoal vest gave him an air of complete professionalism, as if he hadn't just been buried deep inside me minutes ago. The way he absently touched his lips while reading made my pulse quicken all over again. God, he was devastating.
Those piercing blue eyes lifted to meet mine, and his smile could have powered half of Brooklyn. My heart did that familiar flip it always did when he looked at me like that.
"How are you feeling, angel?" His voice carried that rough edge that never failed to make my knees weak.
"Absolutely perfect," I breathed, stretching like a satisfied cat.
"Is that so?" He chuckled, abandoning his paperwork to stalk toward me with predatory grace. "And what exactly has you feeling so perfect?"
"Well, I just got thoroughly ravished by my incredibly talented boss," I said with mock innocence, as if discussing the weather forecast.
"Lucky bastard," he growled, humor dancing in his eyes.
"Oh, he definitely is. Especially since he's ridiculously hot and knows exactly how to use that impressive equipment of his."
"Sounds like I should be jealous of this boss of yours."
I couldn't stop the laughter that bubbled up. "You're absolutely ridiculous."
"But seriously, Hazel," his expression grew tender as he cupped my face, "what I feel for you sometimes scares me with its intensity. It's almost too incredible to be real."
I pressed my palm against his chest, feeling his heartbeat thunder beneath my touch. He leaned down to capture my lips in a kiss that tasted like promises and forever.
"Do you feel that?" he whispered against my mouth. I nodded, lost in the moment. "This is real. I love you beyond reason, angel."
The harsh ring of his office phone shattered our bubble. Liam cursed under his breath before reluctantly answering while I slipped into his private bathroom to freshen up.
When I emerged, Damian stood in the center of the office, eyeing every piece of furniture with obvious suspicion.
"I'm not even going to ask why Liam mysteriously vanished from the Chinese investors meeting today, Hazel. But I do need to know where exactly I can sit without traumatizing myself."
"Anywhere you'd like, Damian," I replied sweetly, fighting back a grin.
Damian approached one of the client chairs, but Liam's wicked smirk made him pause. He cursed and moved to lean against the desk instead, only to have Liam clear his throat meaningfully. The couch was his next attempt, but my husband's headshake sent him toward the coffee table.
"For the love of all that's holy, is there any surface in this entire office where you two haven't—"
"The window's still untouched," Liam interrupted with that devilish grin, his eyes finding mine with unmistakable heat.
Damian's jaw dropped. "That's it. We're relocating to my office."
"Don't be so dramatic, Damian. The right chair is completely pristine," Liam laughed, gesturing to the untouched seat.
Grumbling, Damian finally settled in and launched into business about the missed meeting and upcoming strategies. When they finished, I returned to my own office, first making sure all my clothing was properly arranged.
Felix appeared in my doorway carrying a large, unmarked package.
"Hazel, this just arrived for you. Something feels off about it though—no return address, and security downstairs can't explain how it got past the front desk. They swear they didn't accept any unmarked deliveries today."
"Maybe Liam sent it?" I suggested, though doubt crept into my voice.
"I'm calling him right now. Something about this gives me a terrible feeling. Please don't open it," Felix's anxiety was palpable.
"It's just a box, Felix. I'm sure it's nothing serious."
Before she could protest further, I pulled the package onto my desk and lifted the lid. The scream that tore from my throat echoed through the office as horror crashed over me like ice water. My hands shook violently as tears began streaming down my face.
Felix quickly slammed the box shut and pulled it away, but not before I managed to grab the small card nestled inside. Within seconds, Liam burst through my office door, his face wild with panic as he dropped to his knees beside my chair.
"What happened? Hazel, talk to me," he demanded, his hands framing my tear-stained face.
"I'm so sorry, Liam," Felix whispered, guilt heavy in her voice as she held the offensive package.
Damian moved to examine the contents, his face darkening as he lifted the lid. "What kind of sick bastard—"
Liam rose to look for himself, his entire body going rigid with rage. Inside lay a mangled doll, its head partially severed, one glassy eye missing, an arm torn away with stuffing spilling from the wounds like grotesque entrails. The whole thing was filthy and destroyed, a deliberate nightmare crafted to terrorize.
"There's a card," I managed between sobs.
Liam took it from my trembling fingers, his expression growing murderous as he read. He slammed his fist against my desk hard enough to rattle everything on it.
"Felix, take that thing to my office and get Mitchell on the phone immediately. Call Allen too."
"I'll handle this, angel. I promise," he assured me, but I caught him trying to pocket the card.
"Let me see it, Liam. Don't hide this from me."
Reluctantly, he handed over the card. The printed message made my blood turn to ice:
"Hazel, congratulations on your pregnancy. You're nothing but a whore who destroyed my carefully laid plans. What I did to this doll is child's play compared to what I'll do to your babies. Your army of bodyguards won't save you, because eventually, you'll come to me willingly."
"Leo," I gasped, terror for my son overwhelming everything else. "Liam, we have to make sure Leo's safe."
He was already dialing, and Miranda's reassuring voice filled the speaker as she confirmed Leo was fine, even sending a photo of him absorbed in his cartoons. Liam immediately called Jerome to increase security at the house.
"I don't want you leaving the building today. Cancel everything," Liam commanded.
"Actually, Liam, I think Hazel should go out with the girls as planned. It might help her process this," Damian interjected thoughtfully. "Scarlett mentioned the Community Guild, and that's fortress-level secure. I can call the manager, explain the situation, and arrange for our security team to blend in."
"It would be good to get out for a while," I agreed, needing normalcy after this violation.
"Fine. But I won't be the controlling husband who cages you. Felix, get Scarlett and Stella in here, plus Owen. I want everyone briefed immediately."
Damian was already coordinating with Damon, but his expression grew troubled as he hung up.
"What is it?" Liam demanded.
"Damon's concerned Clairemont might target one of the other girls to get to Hazel. They're all fiercely protective of each other, which makes them potential leverage."
"Then we protect all of them," Liam decided. "I'm calling Adrian about Chl and Thea. Hazel, why don't you visit Fiona for some tea while we sort this out?"
"No. I want to know exactly how we're handling this threat," I said firmly, finding my strength again.
We reconvened in Liam's office as everyone arrived, with Adrian, Chloe, and Thea joining via video conference along with Noah and Damon. Liam efficiently briefed everyone on the situation and made it clear that every woman would have personal security, no arguments accepted.
"Allen, what's the status on finding our information leak? Too much sensitive intel is walking out of here," Liam pressed.
"They're well-hidden, but we'll flush them out," Allen promised.
"Mitchell, I want to know exactly how that package bypassed our security, and it never happens again," Liam ordered.
"I'm positioning patrol cars at the Community Guild and your residence, plus additional units at this building. Twenty-four-seven coverage," Damon confirmed. "I'll also brief the club manager about Clairemont personally."
"Ladies, maximum alertness at all times. We need constant location updates, companion information, and detailed schedules. This isn't about control—it's about keeping you alive," Damian warned seriously. "Copper, you're moving in with me tonight. Non-negotiable."
"Damian, that's excessive," Scarlett protested.
"Either you come to my place, or I move into yours. Your choice."
"It's the smart play, Vi. Please," I asked, and she relented.
"Felix and Stella should stay with us too. Living alone isn't safe right now," Liam decided.
"I'll take responsibility for the shorty," Damon volunteered quickly, making Felix's eyes widen in shock.
"And Stella comes home with me," Adrian added decisively.
"Have you lost your mind, Adrian?" Stella exploded.
"Look, Stella, I've been patient about our situation, and I know I screwed up before. But you're going to cooperate and stay at my house until this threat is neutralized, or I'll carry you there over my shoulder and lock you in my bedroom until you see reason."
"Caveman! Absolutely barbaric!" Stella huffed, though everyone else chuckled at the exchange.
"Well, that settles living arrangements. Security details will shadow all of you," Liam concluded.
"Liam, let my team handle Chl and Thea. They know my company's protocols inside and out. I'll have my head of security coordinate with yours," Adrian offered.
"Agreed. Ladies, enjoy your evening out, but stay sharp," Liam warned as we prepared to face whatever Clairemont had planned next.
