Chapter 159 - War Room Operations
Liam's POV
Twelve hours had passed since my son vanished. Twelve agonizing hours since Miranda's call shattered my world. I forced myself to stay composed, channeling every ounce of control I possessed. Leo needed me focused. Hazel needed me strong.
My network was fully activated. Every contact, every favor owed, every connection I had built over the years was now deployed in the search for my boy. The executive floor of my building had been transformed into a war room. Damian and Owen had arranged everything - beds, meals, changes of clothes. None of us were leaving until Leo came home.
Owen had repositioned a massive conference table in the center of my office, surrounding it with chairs. The space buzzed with activity as my team worked tirelessly, phones ringing constantly, laptops humming with data streams.
"Liam." Evelyn's familiar voice cut through the chaos. I turned and fell into her embrace, drawing strength from her presence.
"Stay strong and keep your faith intact. Leo will come home safely," she whispered against my shoulder. Evelyn had been more than an employee - she was family, a mother figure when I needed one most.
"Thank God you're here. I feel like I'm barely holding it together." The admission came easier than expected.
"You won't fall apart," she said firmly, pulling back to look at me. "You're stronger and smarter than this crisis. Being shaken is human, but you'll continue leading this operation until we bring your son home. Where's Hazel?"
"Resting. We converted Damian's office into sleeping quarters. She's there with the girls."
Evelyn's weathered hand touched my cheek gently. "Then go to her. I just arrived and I'll oversee things here for a while."
"You must be exhausted from the flight."
"I slept the entire journey in first class. Exhaustion is the least of my concerns right now. Go spend time with Hazel."
I made my way to the makeshift dormitory, sliding onto the narrow bed beside my wife. Sleep remained elusive despite my body's desperate need for rest. Hazel lay motionless beside me, sedated by Dr. Evans's medication. The girls maintained their vigil in shifts - Thea currently monitored the reception area, tracking every call and visitor while Stella rested nearby. Chloe had also required medication after nearly collapsing from panic.
I had contacted Chloe's parents earlier, asking them to reach out to Hazel's family and bring them here. Hazel needed their support now more than ever. My mind raced despite my exhaustion. I couldn't lose Leo. Whoever orchestrated this would face my full wrath.
Owen's voice interrupted my spiraling thoughts. Allen had discovered something significant. I extracted myself from the bed and returned to the command center.
"What have you found, Allen?" I demanded immediately upon entering.
"Caleb and Mitchell joined our security team five years ago through Bianca's recommendation. They had been with us ever since. She orchestrated everything meticulously - no obvious paper trail linking her to their hiring process. No apparent connection between them existed on the surface."
"Elaborate," Owen pressed.
"They're Rosa's cousins. She manages operations at the Community Guild. I believe you're familiar with her."
"Yes, we know her. That name surfaced in some questionable business recently," I replied, recalling my conversation with Monica.
"Exactly why she came to mind when my team compiled this information. You mentioned her before, and I know her through Guild connections," Allen explained. "Police are already pursuing her."
"How did Bianca manage their hiring?" Owen questioned.
"Because Liam personally authorized it," Allen said, extending two security personnel files toward us.
"I don't remember this at all," I protested, examining my signature on the documents. "This was five years ago. I never involved myself in hiring decisions and certainly never recommended security personnel."
I stared at the papers in disbelief. The signature was undeniably mine, but the handwritten "hire" notation looked suspicious - similar to my writing but somehow off. I had no recollection of signing these documents.
"How did Human Resources receive these?" I asked.
"An employee discovered them on your desk and delivered them to Hugo. We've summoned both individuals for questioning," Allen explained. "According to this employee, he and Bianca had a brief romantic involvement. She frequently visited his workspace. He found these resumes immediately after one of her visits, and seeing your signature, he gave them to Hugo, who processed the hires without question."
"How could I have signed something I don't remember?"
"Liam, five years ago you were completely infatuated with Victoria. You arrived at work hungover constantly, missed numerous days, lived in a completely irresponsible cycle," Damian reminded me bluntly. "Bianca could have caught you during one of those compromised moments."
"Damn it, that's entirely possible." The realization hit like a physical blow. I slammed my fist against the desk. "I trusted her completely. I signed countless documents she brought without consulting Owen first. What else do we know about these two?"
"Police are currently tracking every relative and associate they have," Damian reported. "They're also searching for Bianca, but she remains missing. They thoroughly searched Clairemont's residence but found nothing useful. However, Isabella Clairemont is also missing, and her parents have no idea where she might be."
"I believe she and Bianca have my son. Dear God, they're both completely unhinged." The thought of Leo in their custody sent ice through my veins.
Dawn broke across the city skyline. The team and I moved to Damian's office to check on the women and invite them for coffee. We gathered in the reception area, updating everyone on our progress over steaming cups. Chloe had recovered from her earlier breakdown and now radiated fierce determination - ready to tear the world apart to find Leo.
Stella caught my attention with a subtle gesture. When I approached, she leaned close to whisper her update.
"Hazel's parents just arrived. They're coming up now with Chloe's parents and Dr. Evans."
The elevator doors would open any moment, bringing more people who loved Leo into our desperate search. Every additional pair of hands, every extra heart invested in finding my son, brought us closer to bringing him home safely.
