Chapter 156 - Henrys Betrayal and Family Intervention
Hazel's POV
"Well, well, if it isn't my favorite little troublemaker remembering us old folks exist," the familiar voice drawled through the phone.
"Logan, sweetheart, you know I never abandon family. How are you holding up?" Scarlett's eyes danced with mischief.
"Surviving, barely. Could use some feminine company since my partner in crime decided to chase Texas sunshine," Logan complained, referring to Levi's recent departure.
"Stop being such a drama queen!" Scarlett laughed. "But listen, I've got news that'll make your entire week."
"I'm all ears, gorgeous."
"That complete disaster Adrian finally showed his true colors and Stella is free as a bird," Scarlett announced with satisfaction.
"You're kidding me! Please tell me you're not messing with my heart right now, Sardines."
"Dead serious. Adrian is officially out of the picture."
"You're an absolute angel! I've got to run, but we'll catch up soon." Logan ended the call abruptly.
Within minutes, Stella's phone buzzed to life. She glanced at the screen and showed us Logan's name before putting it on speaker.
"Logan, this is unexpected. Is everything alright?"
"My beautiful queen, I'm drowning in loneliness here. You know Levi abandoned me for the West Coast, and I'm practically wasting away from solitude," Logan's voice carried theatrical despair.
"Poor thing, what can I do to rescue you?" Stella asked with genuine concern.
"Your lovely presence would be the perfect cure. But I don't want to step on any toes with West," Logan said carefully, as if walking on eggshells.
"No worries there. West and I are finished, completely done," Stella stated flatly.
"Oh darling, how are you handling everything? Did that moron hurt you?"
"Like you said, he's a moron. But I'd rather not waste any more energy on him."
"How about lunch? We could make an entire afternoon of it." Stella looked around at us, and we all nodded enthusiastically, gesturing for her to say yes.
"That sounds perfect. Where should we meet?"
"I'll come get you, my queen. Just tell me where you are."
"Hazel's place. I'll text you the address."
"Give me fifteen minutes. See you soon, beautiful."
The moment Stella hung up, we erupted in laughter. Logan had been completely smitten with her from their very first meeting.
"Hazel, are you absolutely sure you don't need my help here?" Stella asked, looking worried.
"Don't be ridiculous. Go enjoy yourself with Logan and give us all the details later. You deserve some fun," I insisted, practically pushing my friend toward happiness.
After Stella headed downstairs to meet Logan, Noah wandered into the living room for another moving box and casually asked about Stella's sudden date. Adrian overheard and stormed in looking absolutely furious.
"What the hell is happening here?" Adrian demanded.
"Relax there, prince charming. Stella just went out with a friend. Nothing wrong with that since she's completely single now," Chloe said to Noah, but her words were clearly aimed at provoking Adrian's already simmering anger.
"That's complete bullshit, Chloe!" Adrian exploded.
"Watch your mouth and lower your voice when you're talking to me, West. I'm not one of your cheap hookups!" Chloe shot to her feet, facing Adrian down until he shrank back like a scolded child. "Now, explain exactly what kind of mess you created."
"Hold on, what do you mean you and Stella aren't together anymore, Adrian? Why are we just hearing about this now?" Liam demanded. "Damian, get over here." He called out, and Damian appeared with Leo perched on his shoulders.
"Great! Is this turning into some kind of family intervention?" Adrian groaned.
"Start talking, you idiot," Owen ordered.
Just then, Miranda arrived in high spirits, and Liam asked her to take Leo up to his room.
"Stella walked in on me with another woman. She showed up at my apartment without warning, and there was someone there with me. It wasn't anything serious. But Stella went ballistic, blocked me on everything, won't take my calls, refuses to speak to me, nothing. She made me promise not to tell any of you because Liam and Hazel were dealing with their own serious issues," Adrian confessed, staring at the floor.
"What were you possibly thinking, you complete moron?" Thea snapped, smacking his arm hard.
"Ow, Thea! Sometimes a man's willpower just fails and..." Was he actually going to try defending himself?
"If you keep talking, I'm going to slap that stupid look off your face!" Chloe seethed. "Who's the tramp?" When Adrian stayed silent, she pressed harder. "Answer me, Adrian!"
"Remember that day at the shopping center? When that psycho Isabella Clairemont appeared with her little gang, throwing herself at all of us?"
"Penelope, that complete slut, Adrian? I cannot believe you!" Chloe was beyond outraged. "She's friends with that manipulative witch who tried to scam Liam, you absolute idiot! That's the girl from the mall, everyone!"
"Oh Adrian, now I want to slap you myself!" I felt pure rage coursing through my veins.
"Easy there, sweetheart, I'll handle the slapping," Damian said, his voice deadly calm.
"Go ahead, I've got it coming," Adrian said miserably.
"Everyone needs to calm down right now," Liam commanded. "You're a complete fool. Levi and his crew are genuinely good men, so you might have lost Stella forever. I'll remind you that she's my employee and under my protection, so you won't be bothering her again. But right now, we're finishing this move for my family. Once we get everything settled at home, we'll have a proper conversation."
"For the record, I'm the one who called Logan about this," Scarlett announced proudly. "Like Liam said, he's a genuinely good man."
We completed the packing and headed to Liam's house. When we arrived, George greeted us and approached Leo with tears in his eyes, clearly amazed by the striking resemblance between Leo and Liam. When I walked into what would become Leo's bedroom, I was completely stunned. The room was perfectly arranged with a small bed, dresser, comfortable armchair, little table with matching chairs, and an array of toys scattered about. Liam's eyes filled with emotion.
"These were all from my childhood bedroom. My mother kept everything and always said that someday her grandson would sleep overnight in her house, in the same bed that was mine," Liam said softly, his voice thick with memories of his mother.
"He'll sleep every single night in the bed that grandma saved especially for him," I whispered, running my hand gently across his cheek. "George, thank you for arranging everything so perfectly and so quickly."
"It's absolutely nothing, Hazel. It's my greatest pleasure. I watched Liam come into this world, and now seeing his children is the most wonderful gift imaginable," George said warmly before leaving us alone.
In what felt like no time at all, my entire move was complete. We gathered in the living room to hear Adrian's full explanation and deliver the lecture he desperately needed.
