Chapter 153 - Reunion and New Family Bonds
Hazel's POV
It wasn't long before Miranda appeared in the doorway, gently guiding Leo by his small hand. The moment Leo spotted Liam across the room, he released Miranda's grip and sprinted toward him with pure joy.
"Liam!" Leo's voice rang out as he stretched his tiny arms wide. Liam immediately dropped to his knees, sweeping his son into his embrace.
"Leo. My precious boy." Liam's voice cracked with emotion as tears streamed down his face. The sight of father and son reunited sent waves of emotion through everyone present. I glanced around the room and saw tears glistening in every pair of eyes, including my own.
"Liam, I missed you so much. You stopped coming to play with me," Leo said with the innocent directness that only children possess.
"Oh, my sweet boy, I've been dying from missing you too." Liam's words came out between sobs as they clung to each other desperately.
"Hi, Mommy." Leo turned his bright face toward me while still nestled in Liam's arms. "Uncle Damian brought us here."
"That's right, sweetheart. Now aren't you going to greet everyone else?" I asked softly.
"But Mommy, I missed Liam so terribly much!" Leo declared, settling his little head against Liam's shoulder. Liam couldn't contain his tears. "Hi, everybody!" Leo suddenly announced, waving enthusiastically at the entire room. "Liam, why are you crying?"
"Because seeing you makes me happier than I've ever been," Liam managed to say through his overwhelming emotions. "I'm sorry, everyone, but I'm not putting him down right now. You'll all have to wait your turn." The room filled with understanding laughter.
"Then let's move to the dining room, and you can hold your boy while we eat," Damian suggested warmly. "Leo, I got those french fries you love."
"Hooray!" Leo clapped his hands with delight.
We gathered around the dining table, and I found myself mesmerized watching my son perched contentedly on his father's lap. Leo was all smiles as he munched on french fries and chattered about his latest adventures at daycare. Liam refused to release his hold on Leo, constantly showering him with kisses and hanging on his every word. I was so absorbed in watching them that I barely noticed anything else happening around us. The conversation we still needed to have with Leo weighed on my mind, and I wondered if he would truly comprehend what we were about to tell him.
After dinner, we moved into the comfortable living room where the atmosphere felt more intimate.
"Leo, Mommy needs to tell you something very important." He remained perfectly content on Liam's lap, showing no intention of moving.
"What is it, Mommy?" He gazed at me with those stunning violet eyes and that radiant smile that never failed to fill my heart completely.
"Do you remember when you asked me why you don't have a daddy?"
"I rememba, Mommy. You and Auntie Chl told me it's because my daddy lives really far away," he recited the explanation Chloe and I had always given him.
"Well, the truth is that your daddy lives very close now." I spoke as gently as possible, and I watched his little eyes light up with wonder.
"Really, Mommy? Can Liam be my daddy?" His innocent question left me completely speechless.
"Yes, my precious son, I am your daddy. I am your daddy." Liam's voice broke as he held his son even tighter. Leo wrapped his small arms around Liam's neck and squeezed with all his little might.
"My daddy? You're really my daddy! My daddy!" Leo shouted with pure joy, laughing as he embraced his father with everything he had.
This display of pure love and acceptance only intensified Liam's emotions, and soon everyone in the room was crying as if they were children themselves, moved by Leo's innocent happiness.
"I think I should go make some chamomile tea for Liam," Stella announced with a watery smile as she stood up. "Actually, I think I'll make some for everyone." Her comment broke the emotional tension and had everyone laughing through their tears.
When Liam and Leo finally loosened their embrace, Leo ran his tiny hand across his father's tear-stained face with concern.
"Why are you crying, Daddy?" he asked with such sweet innocence.
Liam smiled through his tears. "Because I'm so incredibly happy to be your father, son."
"I have the best idea!" Damian announced enthusiastically. "Nobody's leaving tonight. This house has plenty of rooms, and we can all stay together and share this incredible moment."
"I absolutely love that idea, darling! Everyone should stay," Scarlett immediately supported her husband's suggestion.
One by one, everyone agreed enthusiastically. I watched Leo, who was already getting excited about what the adults were calling a "pajama party," and felt Liam pull me close. He whispered in my ear with deep conviction:
"I'll stay anywhere you and my children are."
Everyone looked at me with hopeful, pleading expressions, and I found myself nodding in agreement. We would stay. Miranda attempted to excuse herself to go home, but Damian wouldn't hear of it. He insisted that she stay and be part of our impromptu family celebration.
The evening turned into something magical, filled with games, endless laughter, and heartwarming stories. Damian distributed comfortable pajamas and oversized shirts for everyone to sleep in. When bedtime finally arrived, Liam carefully positioned our son between us in the large guest bed and fell asleep with both of us wrapped securely in his arms. I had never imagined it was possible to feel as complete and happy as I did in that perfect moment.
The following day, after a leisurely lunch filled with more laughter and bonding, we finally headed home. Liam was hungry to learn everything about his son, and the two of them were absolutely inseparable. Since it was the weekend, Chloe thoughtfully decided to stay at Noah's apartment, giving us the privacy we needed to talk and spend quality time together as a new family. We made a quick stop at Liam's apartment so he could gather some essential belongings, then headed to my place to begin our new life together.
