The Boy Next Door 3.0

Chapter 2: Chapter Dos ¬_¬

My mind started to disintegrate. The coach split my setmates into four groups. I hid at the end of the gym hall, but stupid Kelly (an annoying student with a superiority complex) yelled out loud, "Coachhh!! Aurora is hiding again! I think she's having a panic attack. Let's hope she doesn't faint today."

I stared at Kelly and gave her a bombastic side-eye. Like, who do you think you are? My asscrack? Ugh. -_-

I had to sit with my teammates as the coach instructed so my mind could be at peace. When it was our turn to go against another group, I saw crazy-looking Marcus on the other side. At that moment, I started to regret all the life decisions I had made in the past few hours.

The game began, and it was competitive, alright. I tried my best to avoid getting injured, but that was pointless. Every time our opponents threw the ball, it hit my shoulder or head. Later, Mr. Menace Marcus decided to switch things up and started targeting my teammates. One by one, they dropped to the floor.

I made a run for it because I am not about to "drop dead for anyone." Secretly grabbing a ball, I aimed at Marcus from behind. But it was like he had a sixth sense—he turned at the last second and launched a ball toward me with an insane speed. Uh-oh.

The ball slammed into my pretty face, and my nose started bleeding—a lot. The coach forced Marcus to take me to the nurse since he was the reason for this mess. Marcus walked up to me and carried me like I was nothing more than a feather. I tried to hide the fact that I liked being carried by someone with strong hands.

As we walked, Marcus finally spoke. "Hey, um… I'm sorry for causing the nosebleed."I tried to sound nonchalant. "It's cool or whatever."Yeah, I don't think I'll ever talk to him again after this. Too cringe. When we entered the nurse's office, Marcus gently placed me on the bed and informed the nurse about my predicament. He then sat on the bed opposite mine.

"Aren't you going back to class?" I asked.Marcus just stared at the window. So much for an answer. Hmph. The nurse patched me up and gave me a bandage. While she stepped out to buy medicine from the pharmacy near our school, I rested for a bit. An hour later, Marcus was still here.

…Weird.

I leaned in close to his face and saw that he had dozed off. To be honest, Marcus wasn't bad-looking—he had nice features—but he was still a sh*tface. And, unfortunately, I was stupidly staring.Marcus suddenly opened his eyes.

Sht. Sht. Sh*t.I backed away a little. "Hey, uh… I'm just gonna go," I said awkwardly.Marcus grabbed my arm and pulled me closer. "If you like staring at me so much with those eyes, you might as well kiss me."Ew. I'm sure he thought he ate with that statement."In your dreams, okay? And you're not even that fine to begin with," I shot back.Marcus smirked. "Wow, okay. I guess my charm didn't work on you.""I guess not. Anyway, I'm going now. Thanks for bringing me here," I said before leaving.

After changing in the locker room, I rushed back to class. The students were already opening their books. I quickly informed Miss Wesley, our English teacher, why I was late and sat down.

Emma leaned over and whispered, "Hey, why are you so late? School is about to end. What did you do in the nurse's office?"I had a brief flashback of the foolish event that had just taken place.I whispered back, "I'll tell you at closing time."

A few hours later, the bell rang. Everyone rushed out of class. I got a notification on my phone:

"SENIOR YR, NEW BEGINNING, TURN-UP PARTY!"I sighed. Another high school event I'd have to attend because of Emma.I looked up and saw Emma already hyped."Girl, come to my house! We have to plan outfits. And this year, try to outdo your normal look," she said.I rolled my eyes. "Emma, you already know I did not come to play this year. Let's pack our bags quickly before your brother drives off without us."
