The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife

Chapter 839: Letting the Mothman Escape

Everyone was stunned by the scene before them. Wasn't this the kind of monster that only appeared in movies? How could it be here? If Zhang Ting hadn't warned them beforehand, they might have really thought it was someone in a costume.

Roar, roar.

The Mothman let out a chilling roar, like a beast excited to see prey after hibernation. Zhang Ting faintly sensed a crisis, with killing intent lurking all around. This Mothman was truly a monster.

"Open fire." Zhang Ting was the first to pull the trigger, bullets fired one after another, each embedding in the flesh. Zhang Ting almost aimed exclusively for the Mothman's head, which seemed small compared to its massive body.

Bang, bang, bang.

Dozens of SWAT officers fired simultaneously, forming a powerful weave of gunfire, and the wooden door was quite narrow, the bullets almost "poured" in. If it were a person, they would have been shot full of holes long ago. Even a cultivator would find it difficult to dodge such dense bullets in such a narrow space.

Roar, roar.

Amidst the gunfire, the Mothman let out a painful roar. Zhang Ting emptied a magazine and quickly replaced it, firing another burst.

A minute later.

Everyone had fired two or three magazines, thousands of bullets, enough to blow up a car. The gunfire slowly stopped, the dust in the air settled, and inside the wooden door, there seemed to be no movement.

Another minute later.

"Captain, they're probably dead, right?"

"Probably," Zhang Ting said, gripping her gun tightly and slowly walking in. The walls were riddled with bullet holes, and on the ground, she could vaguely see a Mothman lying there, seemingly dead.

"Sniper, finish it off," Zhang Ting ordered as a precaution, recalling Ye Shikai's description of the Mothman's strong defense and vitality. What if it wasn't really dead...

"Received." The sniper in the distance received the order and fired two more shots at the vital points of the Mothman on the ground. The sniper rifle's bullets had strong penetration, enough to pierce through.

Bang, bang.

"Captain, it should be safe now. I didn't expect such a monster to really exist." Even the well-trained SWAT officers were shocked by this scenario; they were really fighting a "little monster" this time.

"Don't relax. There might be others," Zhang Ting dared not relax at all. Her scalp tingled slightly, as if she hadn't recovered from the terror just now. There was still adrenaline coursing through her veins, making her a bit paranoid.

"Yes." Three SWAT officers slowly approached, preparing to inspect the Mothman on the ground.

"Captain, it's already..."

Bam.

Just as a SWAT officer turned to report, the wall full of bullet holes suddenly collapsed completely. The three officers who had gone to check were caught off guard and were hit by the falling concrete, getting pinned underneath.

"Watch out." Just as Zhang Ting was about to rescue them, she suddenly sensed something was wrong and looked up quickly. Beyond the dust, there was a pair of blood-red eyes, and she could vaguely hear a terrifying "cackle" sound.

Another Mothman wasn't dead.

"Fire." Zhang Ting instantly raised her gun and fired a burst. Everyone else also reacted, their hearts immediately jumping back to their throats.

Even though Zhang Ting reacted extremely quickly, it seemed she was still a step too late.

A massive black figure suddenly dashed out, dodging the bullets and directly charging out. The Mothman's chest and body had extremely hard shell armor; bullets sparked off it but couldn't penetrate.

The sniper also fired immediately, but unfortunately, the Mothman was flying too fast to hit, even after two shots.

Whoosh.

The Mothman flapped its wings, kicking up dust from the ground like a high-power blower. With a few more swings, the already dusty warehouse became a cloud of billowing dust.

Cough, cough.

Zhang Ting was choked by the dust, which also made her unable to open her eyes. Hastily putting on a mask, Zhang Ting suddenly saw a black figure charging directly at her. There was no time to dodge, and Zhang Ting felt an intense pain in her waist, as if hit by a speeding truck. With such a heavy blow, Zhang Ting's body was immediately knocked flying...

Bam.

After the collision, Zhang Ting felt severe pain all over her body, as if her limb bones had broken apart. Supporting herself with her arms, she tried to stand up, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her waist, and her arms lost strength, causing her to collapse back to the ground. After taking such a strong hit from the Mothman, if she hadn't been wearing combat gear, her neck would probably have broken.

Ahhh.

Suddenly, Zhang Ting heard a scream. It was one of her team members, likely also attacked by the Mothman. The dust raised by the Mothman made it impossible for anyone to see what was happening; it even attacked without being noticed.

"Damn it, everyone maintain formation, retreat quickly." Zhang Ting forced her body up, hearing her team's voices and sporadic gunfire, and headed towards the door.

"Team Two, we have a problem, need support," Zhang Ting said loudly into her earpiece. During pre-arrangements, each team clearing an area had a backup team for emergency support.

"Maintain formation."

"Maintain formation."

By the time everyone came to their senses, the Mothman had suddenly disappeared. They all shouted, unable to see teammates and relying solely on voices to locate them.

"Captain, are you okay?" A team member saw Zhang Ting, pale-faced and limping over, and immediately ran over to support her.

"I'm fine," Zhang Ting said, enduring the pain. Clearly, she had underestimated the Mothman's "intelligence." First, it kicked up dust to rob them of sight, then took advantage of their confusion to take them down one by one. To avoid further casualties, the only option now was to retreat.

"Captain Zhang, we're here." At this moment, the backup team's voice came from the door. Some people rushed in, standing guard, and somehow they had brought three high-power blowers. With a roar, the dust was instantly blown away, but everyone was stunned by the scene before them.

On the ground, five or six SWAT officers were lying down. Some were unconscious, others severely injured. These injuries were all... caused by the Mothman.

"Damn it," Zhang Ting cursed angrily, seeing her teammates injured one by one. Her heart ached as if stabbed by a knife, even more painful than her own injuries. Ignoring others' pleas, she rushed forward, trying to find the Mothman, but the Mothman, which had been "stirring up trouble," had vanished.

"Bastard," Zhang Ting fumed. Not only were so many teammates hurt, but the Mothman had also escaped.

"Quick, ambulances, get the injured to the hospital now," the backup team captain immediately ordered. The medical team, arriving swiftly, carried the injured SWAT officers away on stretchers.
