Chapter 601: Destroying the Amusement Park
The terrorist attack that occurred in the amusement park caught Jian Jiang by surprise and weighed heavily on him. If there weren't tens of thousands of visitors here, Jian Jiang wouldn't need to worry about consequences and could fight freely. However, the difficulty of this operation lies in eliminating the enemy while minimizing civilian casualties, which is certainly no easy feat.
Jian Jiang had SAD split into three teams, entering the park from three directions. He personally led one team in through the amusement park's main entrance, moving in the opposite direction of the evacuating visitors. People were amazed by the special forces unit that seemed foreign, yet appeared as comforting as God himself—perhaps at this moment, they were God.
"Enemy has a large amount of automatic weapons; everyone stay safe," Jian Jiang instructed his team through the radio earpiece, and the three squads quickly advanced into the park.
"Team 2 has spotted the enemy, open fire." Led by Cheng Luoqi, Team 2 entered the park via a river that ran through it, surfacing behind the enemy. Following the sound of sniper rifles, Team 2, like cutting through bamboo, swiftly and efficiently eliminated all the terrorists near the Water World.
"Team 3 is under enemy fire suppression; we're trying to break through." At this moment, the desperate voice of Team 3's leader came through the earpiece. They had snuck in from the back mountain of the amusement park. When the park was built, the designers took advantage of the environment, purposely constructing some of the large rides against the mountain, like roller coasters and Ferris wheels. The terrorists were defending from high ground, which made them hard to attack.
"Team 2, go support Team 3," Jian Jiang hesitated for a moment but after glancing at the battle before him, he ordered the support. As the commander, while rescuing hostages, he also had to minimize casualties among his own troops.
"Captain, that front..." Cheng Luoqi was hesitant, but she well knew her superior's style—absolute obedience on the battlefield. In fact, on the way here, Cheng Luoqi was curious why Jian Jiang volunteered SAD for this mission until he mentioned "Hong Kong's pride." She then had some inkling that it might be because of the last time Tomb Spirit Organization wreaked havoc in Hong Kong, when SAD's poor performance led to repeated failures, shaming him as the commanding officer and significantly lowering SAD's reputation.
This operation was undoubtedly an excellent opportunity to redeem themselves, and it was taking place abroad. If handled properly, not only would the superiors favor this elite unit again, but they would also gain favor with the local government.
"I'll be enough with Team 1 at the front; go support them," Jian Jiang spoke indifferently, shooting at terrorists in the distance while he spoke.
..............................
Meanwhile, Ye Shikai, who was hiding out in a haunted house, heard the intense gunfire outside and immediately realized that reinforcements had arrived. Filled with relief but also concern, he wondered where Ji Qian was.
"What's the situation?" At this time, a quiet conversation could be heard from afar, and Ye Shikai quickly hid around the corner, eavesdropping on the conversation of two people nearby.
"A few people ran deeper in, picked up some guns, trying to defend themselves," one of them said.
"Take three men and deal with them. We have more important things to handle and can't be delayed," the other one said indifferently.
"Yes."
Ye Shikai watched as the two split up. According to their conversation, those survivors could very well be Ji Qian and others. Not daring to delay, he quickly followed them, and as expected, one of them was leading several gunmen towards the direction of an abandoned residential building, evidently wanting to kill the survivors.
Following the trail, Ye Shikai stealthily tailed the group. Although the residential building was abandoned, it was still a 13-story high-rise with twenty to thirty rooms on each floor. Ye Shikai had to criticize it as an excellent hide-and-seek playground if not for being used as a haunted house.
The group started searching from the first floor, room by room. Ye Shikai suddenly remembered that he had his cellphone on him; he had forgotten it in the panic, so he quickly took it out and sent a text message to Ji Qian.
"What's going on; she's not replying to me?" Ye Shikai tapped his phone in frustration, cursing softly. Watching the four people search through each room, he knew Ji Qian, as Moon God, could certainly kill these people, but she would also look after the innocent civilians, which made Ye Shikai certain she would be hiding together with the survivors.
If so, it was time to eliminate these bastards first.
Ye Shikai crept up quietly, plunging a dagger straight into one man's neck with such speed that the victim couldn't even scream in agony. He then concentrated his Inner Strength in his other hand, fingers outstretched, and struck the chest of another, shattering his heart's meridians. For an ordinary person, Ye Shikai could easily torment and kill him. He quickly turned and slit another man's throat with the dagger. When he was about to take out the last one, he dropped the dagger - some things required a living witness to be questioned.
"Speak, who are you," Ye Shikai pressed the dagger to the man's neck and demanded sharply.
"You bastard."
"Speak." Ye Shikai thrust the dagger into the man's palm, piercing through it, as blood poured out, and the man screamed in pain.
"We came for the Great Purge."
"Tell me your objective." Ye Shikai didn't care what "The Great Purge" meant, he just wanted to know what those ruthless lunatics were up to.
"To detonate the explosives, turning the entire amusement park into rubble," Ye Shikai heard and his heart skipped a beat; the crazy objective of these lunatics was to destroy the entire amusement park. Such a huge place, how much explosives would it take to level it?
"Are you using an explosive gas?" Ye Shikai continued to press, the man hesitated, eyes flickering. Ye Shikai's gaze intensified, he pulled out the dagger and stabbed down into the man's arm.
"Ah! I'll talk, I'll talk! Yes, it's using that gas."
"Bastard." Ye Shikai fiercely pulled out the dagger, this time stabbing in the man's heart.
"Ji Qian, not good, she's in danger." Ye Shikai turned and rushed towards the upper floors, shouting Ji Qian's name as he ran.
"Ji Qian, where are you?" Ye Shikai used his Inner Strength to project his voice far in the enclosed corridors, creating echoes.
"I'm here." At that moment, Ye Shikai heard Ji Qian's echoing reply from upstairs. In his joy, he hurried up, rushing past room after room until he finally arrived at a storage room on the fifth floor. He kicked open the door to find a dozen children and four or five women looking at him fearfully. Ji Qian was comforting a three or four-year-old girl in her arms.
