"Hehe, we will arrive soon, just wait a moment." Chen Yuxin smiled slightly. In her heart, she felt that Ye Shikai's attitude towards her had changed, but in reality, this was just Ye Shikai not wanting to provoke her again. Sometimes, a woman's fantasies can be quite severe.

"You're still keeping me guessing." Ye Shikai said with a laugh, glancing out the window. If he remembered correctly, wasn't this road leading away from downtown? Where did Chen Yuxin want to take him?

Ten minutes later.

"Family Head, Mr. Ye, we've arrived." Chen Ruoya, sitting in the front passenger seat, turned back and spoke respectfully to the two.

"Wow, this is..." Ye Shikai rolled down the car window and was stunned by the scene before him: a large, pure Western-style luxurious estate, resembling a palace. At a glance, its scale seemed no less than the Wu Family's estate in Hong Kong. Without even thinking, this must be the Chen family's estate. "Xin, you've really suffered these past few years." Ye Shikai remarked. While he was moved, he was also amazed by Chen Yuxin's capability. To become the Family Head of the Chen family was a tremendously prestigious position, and Chen Yuxin was still so young to have achieved this position. Comparatively, the Ji Family's Family Head, Ji Tao, one of the four major families, was already a man in his fifties.

"Family Head, Mr. Ye, dinner is prepared. Please take a seat," Chen Ruoya led the two into a dimly lit room. As the door opened, the scent of roses wafted through the air, a white tablecloth, table set for two, red candles, and red wine; it was a candlelit dinner indeed.

"Kai, please take a seat." Chen Yuxin hurried to pull out a chair for Ye Shikai like a diligent wife.

"Serve the dishes," said Chen Yuxin softly. After Chen Ruoya acknowledged, she left the room, leaving the two alone.

"I'm starving, just in time to snag a meal at your place." Ye Shikai revealed a carefree, hip demeanor. In reality, when they were very young, Ye Shikai always had this attitude—being a child, naive about the world, speaking his mind about anything. But now, at least, Ye Shikai felt the distance between them, so he hoped that this dinner would bring them closer together.

"Sure." Chen Yuxin smiled as she poured a glass of red wine for Ye Shikai and one for herself.

After the crisp clinking of glasses, Ye Shikai savored a sip of the red wine, the aroma rich and the taste mellow, truly a fine selection. Chen Yuxin sipped her wine elegantly like a fairy, causing Ye Shikai to be momentarily mesmerized. The maid brought in dish after dish, some were Western meals while others were Chinese cuisine. For some reason, Ye Shikai noticed that all the servants in the Chen family estate seemed to be women—probably arranged by Chen Yuxin.

"Kai, try this dish." Chen Yuxin pushed a plate of the common green pepper beef toward Ye Shikai, a dish so mundane it almost seemed inconspicuous among the dozen or so dishes.

"Okay." Ye Shikai changed to a clean pair of chopsticks and took a bite.

"How is it? Tasty?" Chen Yuxin's face was full of anticipation.

"It's made by you, right?" After swallowing, Ye Shikai smiled knowingly. He remembered the flavor well; back when he used to bring a packed lunch to school, Chen Yuxin would always add a dish for him, which had prompted classmates to tease him, saying, "his girlfriend made food for him."

Indeed, Chen Yuxin admitted later that she had prepared those dishes, though they were all simple home-cooked meals—for one, they were easy to make, which suited Chen Yuxin, and secondly, considering Ye Shikai's family situation at the time, if he had eaten exotic delicacies, it probably wouldn't have suited him.

"Mm, do you still remember this taste?" Chen Yuxin said with a sweet smile, excitement evident on her face.

"Of course, and your cooking has improved," Ye Shikai continued. "I remember the first time I ate your cooking, it was even a bit burnt."

"But you enjoyed it a lot, didn't you?" Chen Yuxin's cheeks turned red, slightly embarrassed, she lowered her head and then reached for some with her chopsticks.

"No need, just warming it up will do," Ye Shikai quickly said.
