The Blood Omen

Chapter 2: Assassin.

He wore a black shirt and black pants; he was thin, and since his left arm was useless in any fight, he wrapped it around his chest using a rope.

He started to walk towards the door and knocked on it. The door opened, and Omen caught sight of the large doorkeeper.

Doorkeeper asked, "Do you want to go out?"

Omen nodded his head.

The gate of the cell opened, and Omen, in his mind, vowed to never come back to this family again. With this in mind, he walked out of the cave and started walking towards the location that was pointed out on the paper provided by the old man.

The marked location was east of the blue moon. The planet known as Warlands had four moons orbiting it in the sky. People believed that the four moons symbolized the four major pure-blooded races.

Blue Moon was representing the pure-blooded great giant race.

In the Warlands, there were 58 billion beings; the size of the planet was huge, so much so that the planet itself has a conscious, and if you were born mixed-blooded, the planet's conscious would give you a curse.

Omen, who was also mixed-blooded, was cursed by the planet; his curse was going 'Insane' if his emotions went out of control.

He was slowly walked towards the pointed location on the paper; he didn't notice there were 18 shadows following his every move.

After crossing 2 mountains and 1 river in the Jungle, Omen saw a tiny hut; it was on a meadow, and there was a well was outside to fetch water from it.

Omen got instantly ready for battle; he activated his trait [Assassin], and his presence vanished. You could see him, but his whole body was illusory. This was his trait, every mixed blood being has 2 trait. [Assassin] a mixed blood class removes presence and can materialize a weapon of choice.

Omen slowly closed in on the tiny hut, as it has only one entrance. He slowly creeped up on the door and opened it slowly and very carefully.

Inside, just opposite the door, a desk stood, with a person hunched over it, writing something. Omen could only guess it was a woman. The desk was cluttered with parchment, books, and ink scattered randomly across its surface.

"Come inside, I was waiting something for you" a beautiful voice gently called out. Omen was alarmed.

"Don't worry, I am not your enemy." Saying this, the woman who was inside the hut straightened her body and turned around with the gentlest smile Omen has ever seen. She has black hair, glowing red eyes, and a beautiful pale face.

"Who are you?" Omen questioned her. A huge black sword materialized in his hand, and he pointed the sword at her in a threatening manner.

"Hmm, that's a wonderful question. I suppose I am someone related to you by blood." She smiled gently at Omen, then slowly approached him.

Omen wanted to move backwards, but it seems his body was not reacting. His sword fell from his hand and disappeared before reaching the ground.

As she approached Omen, he was able to clearly see her, even in the dimly lit tiny hut. She was pale, very gorgeous, and what was bewildering was that somehow she looked like him.

As Omen was confused, she took out a small stone the size of a fingernail, which was glowing with thousands of colors, and pushed it inside Omen's chest.

Omen's mind was in turmoil with all things happening, his emotions went out of control and his curse kicked in. He extended his right arm, spread his fingers wide, and out of nowhere, the huge black sword came back, ripping the woman's whole belly apart.

Slowly and with a smile, she collapsed onto the ground, surrounded by a vast pool of blood. Omen came back to his senses once he slid her open but it was too late, he felt he had lost something precious and closer to his heart.

"Don't worry, leave me be. This was the ending I wanted. Don't tell anyone about the thing I gave you, your grandfather won't be able to find out if he can't catch you, so run. I have erased the memory of time inside this hut. There are 18 people present outside, so go cautiously." She was rushing her words, as if she wanted to say everything she could before her last breath left her.

"Why...why are you helping me?" Omen was confused; this was the first time he was getting help, or someone was actually genuinely caring for him.

"I... go." Before she could say more, she took her last breath by pointing at the table.

Omen, seeing her dying, felt sad, but he also sensed some presence outside the hut. He understood that this was his grandfather's plan—to kill him off or to kill his target if Omen fails. Omen could not take a risk by thinking that his grandfather has sent a team to kill the target and not him.

Omen carefully closed the door behind him and slowly came near the table to see what the women was pointing at.

' Omen, I've always loved you; if you see this letter, it means I am dead by your curse or fighting your grandfather, who is also a curse. Hehe, Don't worry, your mother is not that weak to die by your curse; she is choosing it herself, so don't blame yourself. Returning to the main point, keep the celestial object I gave you to yourself. If necessary, remove the desk to reveal a cave hole. Although short, it has a safe passage.'

Seeing the letter, Omen almost choked; she was his mother; he has killed his own mother? Omen almost lost control of his emotions; his eyes were slightly moist, but he had killed over a thousand people. After being tortured day and night, sometimes the surgery performed by his "supposedly" family physician required him to stitch his own wound, so the last thing he wanted to do was cry. He took the letter with him and kept it inside his clothes.
