The Blessed Beauty Returns with a Dimension

Chapter 684: Sour Words

"Alright! Old Mrs. Song is moving today. Hurry up and get dressed, and we'll go over together for a visit. We can't very well have the Old Mrs. moving without a single one of us children showing up. If those officers helping with the move saw this, they might think we're unfilial."

Mrs. Song had her own little plan in mind. She thought that since Old Mrs. Song was moving out of that house, leaving it empty would be a waste. She suggested that the second son talk it over with Old Mrs. Song.

It would be better to let them live there. She had long since taken a liking to Old Mrs. Song's house. It was very spacious, with three bedrooms and two living rooms, and it was kept extremely clean and tidy.

The important thing was that it was right across from where her own son lived.

Even though she wasn't particularly fond of her granddaughter, being able to see her son and granddaughter every day was a pleasant thought.

It was certainly better than just the two of them being alone in a lifeless house.

Song Qinghe was also planning to see his father, as he hoped to discuss the matter of his promotion to director with the old lady and have her make a phone call on his behalf.

Considering his age, this might be his last chance for a promotion in his career.

If he couldn't get it this time, retirement was imminent. Who wouldn't want to give it one last shot?

Fang Xiaohui secretly rolled her eyes, feeling that the talisman she used to try and persuade herself had been wasted.

She knew better than to say anything, her mother-in-law would go anyway, so there was no need to waste the talisman.

Since both the father-in-law and mother-in-law were going to see the Old Mrs. and Old Mr. Song, as their granddaughter-in-law, she couldn't fall behind.

So, the three of them took a car straight to the courtyard house. Although it was their first visit, they had the address, and the driver asked around for a while before finally reaching the place.

Once they arrived, the place was unmistakable; after all, there was only one household moving.

At the sight of the courtyard, all three of them felt a pang of jealousy.

They had initially thought it would be a small courtyard house with maybe seven or eight rooms and a yard and sky well, nothing much to speak of.

The ordinary courtyard houses they had seen were all in disrepair, and some, although large, housed dozens of people in the same yard, crowded with neighbors, noisy and irritating.

But this courtyard was different.

In fact, the several courtyard houses around were all different.

To be precise, this courtyard and the three surrounding courtyards formed an even larger courtyard.

Each courtyard was a two-entry yard.

Combining four courtyards together, it surprisingly shaped an even larger courtyard.

Mr. and Mrs. Song felt a twinge of envy seeing such a large house. Although it was unlikely Old Sir Song bought all four courtyards, just a single two-entry courtyard was no small matter.

The two-entry courtyard alone had over a dozen rooms.

Walking in evoked a sense of intimacy and tranquility, filled with a strong sense of life. The yard was spacious and proportionate, with flowers and rocks intricately placed, crabapple trees planted, pomegranate bonsai arranged, and large vats of goldfish raising, all carrying auspicious meanings.

It was an ideal outdoor living space, akin to a large open-air living room, bringing the world closer to home.

As they walked inside, they all felt a sense of calm and relaxation come over them.

Old Mrs. Song had just instructed the young comrades to arrange the furniture in the house properly. This was actually the last batch of things; the housekeeper had been busy helping all along.

Fan Xiuying and Jiang Xiaolao were also there to help.

Their house was nearly organized, and they planned to move in a few days as well.

But hearing that the Old Mr. and Mrs. were planning to move first, they had rushed over to help.

The two families found themselves suddenly together.

Seeing Fan Xiuying, Mrs. Song couldn't suppress her irritation.

Jiang Xiaoxiao was always adept at ingratiating herself with Old Sir and Mrs. Song. And Jiang Xiaoxiao's parents were even more adroit—see, they've already entered the hall. Their children weren't even there to show filial piety, yet these outsiders were ahead of them, making a show in front of Old Sir and Mrs. Song.

"Oh, Xiao Xiao's parents are here too!"

Only then did Old Mrs. and Sir Song notice the three unexpected guests.

"Why are you here?"

Old Sir and Mrs. Song never liked troubling others. Even for the move, they hadn't planned on asking their children, especially since they had people on hand. A single phone call and several security guards could come to help; moving wasn't that much of a hassle.

The housekeeper was there to help tidy up, and with Fan Xiuying and Jiang Xiaolao helping for days, even organizing the house was done by the pair.

In any case, Old Sir and Mrs. Song were planning to live there in the future, and since Fan Xiuying and the others needed to organize their own courtyard,

they figured if one family was tidying up, it was simpler to tidy up for both, so they didn't think much of it. They had intended to inform their sons after the move for a gathering, formally notifying them that they'd be retiring there.

Unexpectedly, the second son and his wife had gotten wind and arrived early.

Seeing Fang Xiaohui behind them, Old Mrs. Song understood—it must have been Fang Xiaohui who informed them.

Given such a big move, how could Fang Xiaohui, living across the street, not notice?

"Why didn't you tell us about such a big move, Mom and Dad? At least let us help, you can't trouble outsiders with this. Isn't this an embarrassment to us sons and daughters-in-law?"

Mrs. Song felt a bit aggrieved, questioning why Old Sir and Mrs. Song hadn't considered them. They were all adults now; how would outsiders view them as sons and grandsons if Old Sir and Mrs. Song behaved this way?

Old Sir Song felt impatient. What should have been a small, easily resolved matter became a big issue with the daughter-in-law.

"Do we have to consult you on how to move house? For your pride, should we disregard our own convenience? If you were truly filial, you would already know what we need to do.

When you only show up once a month, why should we take the initiative to inform you? Who are these 'outsiders'? Xiao Fan and Jiang Xiao are Xiao Xiao's parents. They're our in-laws, and how did you turn them into outsiders?

Everything inside and outside this house was tidied up by the two of them. It's not like you've done anything to help, and yet you make a fuss. It's just you who are making an issue out of this. Since you're here, lend a hand and get to work."

With just one sentence from Old Sir, Mr. and Mrs. Song and Fang Xiaohui busily pitched in.

Old Sir chuckled and said to Fan Xiuying and Jiang Xiaolao, "Aren't they saying you're outsiders? Let's go! As 'outsiders,' you're guests; come inside and have some tea. Let them handle the rest."

Feeling awkward, Fan Xiuying and Jiang Xiaolao decided against further involvement. Initially, they intended well, but it seemed as though they were taking over the children's tasks.

Thus, the two reluctantly withdrew to join Old Sir and Mrs. Song inside for tea.

Mr. and Mrs. Song and Fang Xiaohui busied themselves to exhaustion, laboring until their backs were sore. Although furniture moving didn't require their effort, there were still small and detailed tasks needing attention, and they couldn't just stand there idly.

By the afternoon, they had been laboring continuously, while Fan Xiuying and the others leisurely enjoyed tea and meals.

Fang Xiaohui frowned, thinking her mother-in-law was good for nothing but trouble. It would have been enough to simply make an appearance and show some courtesy, but she insisted on making those idle remarks.

Now, look what happened. Despite having spoken out, Old Sir made her work, and she ended up exhausting herself in the process.
