Chapter 587: Perplexing
Jiang Laoshi and Mr. Wu washed their hands.
The four of them sat in the room.
"Mr. Wu, Mrs. Wu, what brings you both here this time?"
Jiang Laoshi was still a bit puzzled.
Mr. Wu laughed, "It's nothing, we just heard that Jiang Xiaoxiao and her husband moved back to live here, and Tang Yuan also came along. We watched Tang Yuan grow up from a young age, and as soon as we heard, we were eager to come and see the child. That's really all there is to it."
Jiang Laoshi was finally relieved.
It's good that there's nothing else.
"You watched Tang Yuan grow up, so you could almost be his great-grandparents. Since that's the case, why don't you stay for lunch; although Xiao Xiao and her husband won't be back for lunch, they will be back in the evening, and I'll convey your kind thoughts to them.
Let's make dumplings for lunch."
Guests who come to visit must be entertained properly.
"Alright! Dumplings it is. Don't be too formal with us. We've always treated Jiang Xiaoxiao like our granddaughter and Tang Yuan like our great-grandson. Watching this child grow up is like being part of a family.
We shouldn't stand on ceremony, let's keep visiting frequently; we old folks will definitely come by to see the child now and then."
Mrs. Wu agreed readily.
The old couple had racked their brains; wherever their great-grandson goes, they move there too.
They used to treat the Song family as their own, now they're reaching out to the Jiang family, all for the sake of seeing these two children.
Fan Xiuying and Jiang Laoshi both felt that the Wu family's old couple was very down-to-earth. Despite being from a high-status family, they had a calm demeanor without any airs.
It made them feel much more at ease.
Anyone who treats Jiang Xiaoxiao and Tang Yuan well, Fan Xiuying and Jiang Laoshi naturally consider good people.
Jiang Xiaoxiao went to the hospital straight after class.
Recently, Old Mrs. Song had completely stopped handling hospital affairs.
In this era, most hospitals were state-owned. There were many small-scale private clinics, but private hospitals were still not common.
The private hospital run by Jiang Xiaoxiao was basically considered by everyone to be just a private clinic.
The hospital had not officially opened yet, mainly because the approval for hospital procedures was extremely difficult.
Initially, Jiang Xiaoxiao and Song Moting didn't have the qualifications to open a hospital.
Even after Old Mrs. Song stepped in, and the process sped up, they were opening a hospital qualified to perform surgeries, completely different from regular clinics that dealt with minor illnesses.
In the absence of formal policy release, this field was still unregulated, so the approval authorities had to be very cautious.
The procedures were finally completed this year.
But starting a hospital isn't as simple as completing procedures and beginning operations; there at least need to be doctors on duty.
Jiang Xiaoxiao and Song Moting could at most barely qualify as interns. Without official doctor qualifications, they couldn't casually treat patients.
Old Mrs. Song had initially arranged to introduce Jiang Xiaoxiao and Song Moting to several of her students, covering several departments.
Originally, she had scheduled to bring Jiang Xiaoxiao and Song Moting to meet her students these past few days, but unexpectedly, the old lady changed her attitude dramatically towards them recently, showing no goodwill at all.
Not only did she not help arrange doctors' meetings, but she hadn't even shown up at the hospital lately. All the hospital affairs now fell to Jiang Xiaoxiao.
Jiang Xiaoxiao had been extremely busy lately, having to juggle her schoolwork with hospital matters.
Sitting in the office, Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at the documents in front of her.
These were the materials Old Mrs. Song had given her, asking her to go through carefully.
These were the documents of doctors interested in working at their hospital. Running a hospital can't be done by just one doctor, and though Jiang Xiaoxiao was a general practitioner, she couldn't possibly handle everything alone.
So far, recruitment had just begun, but the old lady withdrew her involvement.
Jiang Xiaoxiao had no choice but to take charge herself.
Jiang Xiaoxiao looked at the documents.
She had already notified the applicants for the nurse position to come in tomorrow.
She needed to personally oversee the interviews.
As for doctors, it seemed like she had to handle it herself too.
Jiang Xiaoxiao flipped through the resumes.
She particularly favored three doctors.
One was Wang Zhonghe.
This doctor was proficient in both internal and external medicine.
At 45 years old, he had worked in two major hospitals and was still working at one of them.
His work experience was quite typical, but he was honest and his skills were quite strong.
Capable of performing surgeries independently, he was someone Jiang Xiaoxiao deemed suitable.
Another was a very accomplished gynecologist, 30-year-old Li Xiuli, who was notable in the field of gynecology and had already reached the position of associate professor at this age. She had achieved significant accomplishments in gynecology.
The third was a pediatrician.
He Weiming, 38 years old. In pediatrics, he was highly accomplished, with many papers and reports published in medical journals, making him an expert. Reaching expert status in pediatrics at this age was a significant achievement for a young doctor.
Given their qualifications, there was no need for them to leave their current hospitals, as they had bright futures ahead.
Old Mrs. Song's initial consideration was based on the fact that these three were her students. Out of respect, they had expressed willingness to work at the private hospital she was opening, truly as a favor to her.
With the old lady's involvement, Jiang Xiaoxiao initially thought it wouldn't be a problem.
But now that the old lady was unwilling to step in, Jiang Xiaoxiao was worried about how to attract these three doctors to her hospital.
A hospital can't start operations without doctors.
Jiang Xiaoxiao reviewed their resumes while pondering what she should do.
This problem required her to visit in person.
Yet, Jiang Xiaoxiao was puzzled about the old lady's inexplicable change of attitude. It seemed everything changed overnight when she suddenly began to disdain their couple.
And started treating Fang Xiaohui like a precious treasure.
Jiang Xiaoxiao didn't want to think badly of others, nor did she believe there was a problem just because the old lady no longer liked them.
The loss was certain.
But no matter how much she thought, Jiang Xiaoxiao couldn't recall any incidents between them that could cause such a severe rift. She was part of it but couldn't think of anything that could impact their relationship.
If there were, the old lady wasn't the type to bottle it up and wait for it to erupt; neither of them were roundabout people.
The previous day, the old lady was still holding Tang Yuan as if he was a treasure—it was her birthday, yet she didn't want to celebrate it outside.
So the entire family had dinner at home.
It seemed right after that meal, after they took the child home to rest, the old lady's attitude made a complete 180-degree turn the following day.
This was indeed very baffling.
