The Aura Ascendant: A Knight's Unbroken Path

Chapter 59: The Sorcerer

At this moment, the graveyard where the undead Aura Knight appeared was already silent.

There were barely any remnants of the battle between Headmaster Mensa, Vice Headmaster Sabin, and the undead Aura Knight Clovis.

The professors had actually arranged for people to clean or fix the ground that was scorched, the tombstones that were cracked, and others…

However, the person that had appeared was not ordinary. They could still feel some residual dark energy and even the Aura energy that affected the surroundings.

The figure then removed the cloak covering their appearance…

It turned out that she was a woman who seemed to be in her mid-thirties.

Her presence was almost unnoticeable as if she were a part of the darkness itself.

She was Sorcerer Eve, a powerful and enigmatic magician who had been searching for Clovis's Aura Crystal for years.

Eve's sharp eyes scanned the graveyard and her expression was definitely filled with frustration. After all, she had been late due to the distance of this place from her hidden laboratory. She simply didn't expect that the undead Aura Knight would be easily found and even killed so quickly.

"I'm too late," she muttered. "The crystal is gone."

'Where did it go wrong?'

Eve's quest for the Aura Crystal had been a long and calculated one.

She had spread cursed books across the kingdom, each one containing fragments of forbidden knowledge and subtle manipulations designed to lead unsuspecting readers to any Aura Knight's grave, in hopes of finding Clovis's grave.

In just 15 years, she was able to find 22 Aura Knights's graves that were outside of the Hero's Graveyard. Some of them had successfully formed Aura Crystals and some were not. Even if they formed one, they were actually really useless for her current level.

Anyway, she had long confirmed that Clovis' remains weren't brought to the Hero's Graveyard due to his complicated past. Also, it would've been completely impossible for her to take the Aura Crystal if that was the case.

For various reasons, she would quickly give up if her target's remains were in that Graveyard.

Nonetheless, her plan to find Clovis' remains had worked—too well.

It seemed that one of the cursed books had fallen into the hands of someone foolish enough to attempt the resurrection ritual, awakening Clovis's corpse and drawing the attention of the academy. Well, there weren't a lot of people here who could kill the undead Aura Knight…

Just looking at the surroundings, the one who killed it was definitely an Aura Knight. Only those retired Aura Knights of the Academy nearby must've moved to kill it.

"Foolish…" Eve groaned as she held the bindings of one of her cursed books, which she carried with her at all times.

"They had no idea what they were meddling with. But now… now I have to take that crystal from them…"

She was extremely interested in Clovis' Mind Sword. It was incredibly famous since there were no other Aura Users capable of using it.

Yes, there were Sword Intent that some Swordmasters could use but the Mind Sword itself was unique. It wasn't something that could be easily learned even after becoming a Great Swordmaster or even a Sword Saint.

This was the main reason why she was really interested in this matter.

Soon, Eve started to move through the graveyard as her senses attuned to the faint traces of energy left behind.

She knelt beside the scorched ground where Clovis had fallen. Although it was covered up, it was only covered to trick ordinary people. With her Mana Sensitivity, this wasn't a problem at all.

"It's indeed those two Aura Knights…" she murmured and it was filled with annoyance.

"Retired, but still formidable. They must have taken the crystal."

Her eyes squinted as she considered her next move.

"They're just old knight… it's just a bit of trouble," Eve muttered.

"But I'll need to be careful." As she said this, she looked at the huge tower on the northern side of the city.

"It's unexpected… I didn't know that Dawnspire City isn't just protected by a few Aura Knights—there are two old Magicians here as well. If they get involved, things could get complicated."

When she researched about this city, there were no records of this place being protected by Magicians at all. Furthermore, there is no Mage Tower here!

Without Mage Tower, the Magicians would slowly decline. After all, the Mana here was too thin!

Only Mage Towers could gather enough mana from Earth to continue researching…

Eve's thoughts turned to the two Magicians who had been guarding the Dawnspire City secretly.

She was trying to recall any information about this place.

However, aside from recalling that another Evil Magician tried to find sacrifices here but had disappeared instead, she had no other information about it.

'They must have strong enemies, so they don't want to show up as much as possible… Furthermore, without my special trait, I wouldn't even notice their presence… If I play this right, I may not need to fight them…' Eve thought as she was certainly planning to find the two Retired Aura Knights and if they didn't want to cooperate, she would have to kill them for sure.

"But the old magicians may grow complacent if they notice I'm following the Dark Path. I guess I have to be prepared… If they interfere, I'll have to deal with them too."

As she stood up, she looked in the direction of the Academy where the two old Aura Knights were located.

'Let's finish this quickly..' She muttered. Then, in the blink of an eye, her figure disappeared.
