The Aura Ascendant: A Knight's Unbroken Path

Chapter 147: Experiment

'A powerful vessel for… Lightning Magic?' Van was confused as soon as he heard this. There was no record of Aura Users with Special Physique becoming a vessel in the books he had recorded with his Lens.

There wasn't even a mention of it in the Obsidian Tower.

However, seeing the reaction of some high-circle Magicians, he guessed that the ones only aware of it were those Second-Circle Magicians and above.

He also used his Ocularis Lens and could only make some wild guesses about it. There was no concrete information about it aside from the clue they had given, the word 'vessel'.

Then, Van heard the first bid for Subject 3.

A nobleman raised his token and called his bid "30 High-Grade Mana Crystals!"

Gasps rippled through the crowd, but after a few moments, the bid reached 50 High-Grade Mana Crystals.

It was a price similar to Van's sale in the Obsidian Tower's Auction Hall.

However, Subject 3's physique seemed very alluring as the young man actually reached 59 High Grade Mana Crystals and 20 Mid Grades after a fierce battle.

It showed that the quality of sword slaves from the Ashenveil Tower was actually higher than the Obsidian Tower.

In any case, the Auction continued as Subject 2 was soon presented to everyone.

She was a 14-year-old girl, her skin was so pale it was nearly translucent.

"Subject 2," the auctioneer said as she looked at everyone... "With her Lunar Vein Physique, her Aura had become very unique… As long as it's a Zero-Circle Spell, she was capable of absorbing and nullifying hostile Spells... When it comes to curses, our tests suggested that even First-Circle Spells could fail!"

Julia leaned forward, fascinated by the girl's special physique. "She nullifies magic?!"

Butler Judge gently nodded. "It's a dangerous ability. Although it's only for low-level Magic Spells, it is still incredible. The only problem is the maintenance of that girl. The Lunar Vein Physique is unforgiving… If she doesn't get special medicine every week or every month, depending on the severity of her Special Physique's side effects, she could die. I heard that those with such a physique could only reach up to 30 years old.

Needless to say, the bidding war for her was fierce. However, in the end, a Masked Magician outbid everyone with 85 High-Grade Mana Crystals. At this price, he could already obtain dozens of top-quality sword slaves.

It seemed that this person truly needed her physique.

After applauding the winner of the bid, Subject 1 was finally introduced.

He was only a 14-year-old boy but his muscles looked like they had been carved from stone.

As a matter of fact, his skin was already shimmering with metallic light…

"He doesn't have a special physique, but he has a special technique or training that makes his skin as tough as steel…" the auctioneer declared.

"His bones are denser than steel, his flesh harder than enchanted armor. He has already reached the Peak Aura Trainee Stage, and his body can withstand techniques meant for full-fledged Aura Knights."

The others went silent for a moment as many of them here knew about this spell Iron Body Technique…

The Auctioneer then smiled after seeing the expression of the guests.

"You're right… Our Subject 1 is from that kingdom and from that family." She didn't say what kingdom or what family it was, as if it should be common knowledge.

Van, on the other hand, noticed that many of the guests went silent and hesitated.

Julia felt the sudden tension in the air and whispered to Butler Judge.

"Which family is it?"

"He must be from the Yan Family of Zendikar Kingdom. They're quite special, as it was rumored that they have several Fifth-Level Aura Knights. Their signature technique was the Iron Body Mantra. If it were known that you have one of their descendants, you might have to face the rage of that Family. However, if you're from a strong Magician's Family, there should be nothing to worry about."

Butler Judge then paused for a moment as he looked at Julia.

"As long as your organization or family is that strong, they wouldn't dare sacrifice a huge number of Aura Knights for the sake of one." He added in a softer voice.

Van's Ocularis Lens analyzed him instantly.

Just like what Butler Judge said, there were only six people who had actually fought over Subject One. Nonetheless, despite having lesser competition, a Warlord from the Southern Border of the kingdoms still won him 119 High-Grade Mana Crystals and 10 Mid-Grades.

After Subject 1 was sold, Subject Zero was finally brought to the stage…

The lights dimmed once again as the auctioneer prepared to introduce the sword slave.

"And now… the last item of our event."

The stage split open, revealing a hidden platform rising from below.

A figure stood at its center.

He was just a 15-year-old boy, his body was wrapped in chains, to show how dangerous he could be.

Of course, most of it was just for appearance since they were all magicians here.

Nonetheless, the child looks menacing because of this.

His hair was white, and his eyes were also looking at them like they were the evil ones who had captured him to be sold as slaves... But most unsettling of all—

He had no aura. This person was supposed to be a Sword Slave.

However, there was not a flicker or any traces at all.

Yet the air around him warped, as if reality itself struggled to contain him.

"Subject Zero," the auctioneer whispered. "The only survivor of the Voidborn experiments of High Mage Merlin! He does not possess an Aura. He does not wield Mana. Instead…"

She snapped her fingers. A mage on the stage threw a Firebolt at the boy.

The spell disintegrated before it touched him—erased, as if it had never existed.

"He nullifies all energy that enters his domain… Unfortunately, because of this special body, this boy can't practice any technique to strengthen his current body. Furthermore, there's also a limit to the energy of the Spell he could nullify."

"This…" Butler Judge and everyone in the hall were shocked.
