The Asshai's Bloodmage

Chapter 62: Fire breath

I wasn't the only one injured, the passenger I alerted earlier was passed out with a claw cut on his chest, and Arthur's man who was using daggers had one of his arms down like mine. Soon we arrived at Valyria's sigh, the uninjured people climbed the rope, while those of us who were injured were quickly pulled up along with the boat by a small pulley. As soon as I saw Henry, I shouted:

"CAPTAIN GIVE THE ORDER TO TAKE THE SHIPS OUT OF HERE QUICKLY, THERE IS A NEST OF MONSTERS INSIDE THE SHIPWRECK."

Henry waved and left shouting orders. I look at the curious crowd who probably came out of two booths scared after hearing the shots, I wave to Jhon who I see among them and after approaching I say:

"Jhon, the creature has a poison that causes local paralysis and gangrene, ask Vitarys for help and try to make an antidote or you will both die."

I wave my hand and a corpse of the monsters appears on the deck making the women scream and even the men back away in fear. Jhon has little surprise and quickly bends down close to the monster and begins collecting samples of one of its claws, blood and saliva before running towards Esmer's cabin. People remained scared, but when they confirmed that the creature was dead, they approached to look more curiously. I wave my hand and put it away again, I don't know if the thing could bring any disease to the ship.

Then the ship's surgeon tries to help me, but I tell him to take care of the other two first. Aisha manages to weave through the crowd and approaches me.

"Boss are you okay?"

"Help me take off my armor." I ask, and she starts to cut my clothes and remove the leather breastplate that was torn near the shoulder along with the shoulder pads, when everything is removed I hear some gasps from the people who are still curious nearby, before giving them a shout ordering the deck to be emptied. I take out alcohol and clean cloths before checking the system messages while Aisha continues cleaning my wounds.

[You were injured and poisoned]

[A low-level toxin paralyzes the left arm]

[A low-level toxin causes gangrene in the left arm]

[Poison resistance (low) is removing toxins]

Loot Shipwrecks 1/3

Kill sea monsters 10/10

[You have created an innate spell] +

Fire breath 1/2 +

Breathe and breathe flames at your enemies +

[Innate spells can grow over time, spell duration, flame temperature, amount of daily uses, and range can be increased through soul strengthening and other external methods.]

Well it wasn't a bad attack spell, but I planned to create something that would give me more resistance, defense or mobility. Furthermore, the spell cannot hurt me like the flames from the fireball. For now it is weak and can only be used twice but as it gets stronger maybe it will be like a real Dragon Fire Breath.

Knowing the level of the poison, I also believe that the men can cure themselves without much problem. The ex-pirate approaches and asks if he can ask my blacksmith for help to open the safe they found in the Captain's room. I nod as I look at my bandaged wounds. I see Aisha standing still as her eyes run down my body following my pecs before stopping, moving up and looking into my red eyes that are watching her. She gives a low scream, scared because I have turned my attention to her and I ask:

"It ended?" She blushes and stands up waving that she's finished before giving me space. I thank her and go to the infirmary where the two injured men were taken. Inside I see the two men with their wounds already bandaged and Vitarys is taking samples of their wounds and taking their temperatures. I don't see Jhon around so I assume he's already gone to the laboratory, I warn Vitarys that this will count as an Order mission and I ask how much time the men have and how long it will take them to make an antidote.

"I've already used an antidote that removed the paralysis and Jhon is doing some tests with another similar antidote. The two men should have a day before the gangrene spreads to their internal organs."

I nod and turn to the ex-pirate and ask what happened.

"We searched all the cabins and found many valuables, but also blood and signs of a struggle, so we went to the captain's cabin and found the logbook and the safe. We decided to end the search and leave as quickly as possible, but since the safe was very heavy we went to get some empty barrels to use as a buoy. When we were almost finished we dropped the safe on the deck making a noise and one of those things appeared. As soon as it saw us it screamed loudly making more of them appear. We fought some of them and even killed them, but there was always another one so I made everyone jump from up there along with the safe and ran inside the ship to the place where you entered to try to lose them while I locked some doors on the ship and gave the others time. What about you?"

I tell him about the cargo deck, and that I was leaving quietly after killing one, but that their noise on the upper decks woke them all up in the hold. He turns pale when I tell him that their nest was inside the cargo deck, and when I came out of the water there were two creatures near the exit that knocked me down and ambushed me. He apologizes for luring them there, but it was the only way out he knew, and fighting on the deck was very difficult because it was an open area, but fighting inside the corridors was easier because it was narrow and he wasn't surrounded from behind.

After saying that I took a lot of cargo, he celebrates, except for the captain and the owners of the ship, all 4 of them will get a good share of this loot. Omar, who was also in the infirmary, heard the whole story and was open-mouthed, he asked about the strength of the creatures, their speed, etc. It almost seemed like he regretted not having gone. After remaining in the infirmary until nightfall an antidote was finally created, after applying it to the wound a foul smelling liquid came out and the men stopped having fevers within the next hour. I was finally at peace and went to my cabin to rest.

The next day after breakfast I checked on the men again and confirmed that they were okay, then I informed Henry about the cargo I had collected and left everything in a place near the cargo deck. At the end of the day I received the report, and besides the grains in good condition, the other boxes were ingots and armor. We could sell them in the next city we will stop and exchange them for more food cargo for Asshai. Now that we have a second ship we need to supply it as well. After that I will check the safe, but before that I call the first mate, the man Ghis and the ex-pirate, the others are still in bed, but with the first mate around there is no problem. Unsurprisingly the safe has a good amount of gold, cargo manifest, important documents, jewelry and other belongings. All together there should be at least 150 gold coins or more in personal effects.

Even after the ship owners are cut and the captain is cut each of the 4 men should receive at least 15-20 gold coins. A profit enough for an ordinary man to retire on. But the ex-pirate says that the other two must pay a cut to the two healers who saved their lives. I leave that to them to decide, I don't think Jhon or Vitarys would mind so little wealth. But that amount of gold certainly made many men regret not having risked the shipwreck.

In the next few days while I'm recovering from my injuries, I begin to check the details of the next meeting of the Order of the Wise, as well as checking details about our last or penultimate stop before we arrive in Asshai. The city of Qarth was also part of the Valyrian empire and now it would be at the beginning of a great chaos, with the increase in piracy most of the trade routes will be invalidated and Qarth will find a shortage of goods making the brilliant city become a turbulent place with high prices, I just hope that the goods we need have not suffered too much inflation.

In addition, the invasions that the city will face due to its strategic position as the transit city between the east and the west, will be long and hard. I don't have any details beyond that, but it's worth considering approaching or at least sending a message to the city leader to ensure a good relationship since this route will be heavily used by my men and ships when it comes to bringing supplies to Asshai during the Century of Blood.

After considering it, I schedule the Order meeting for 7 days later. I send the invitations again through Aisha, after which I ask Ted to send a message to Omar, Fatty and Jhon to meet me at the lab tomorrow morning. For the rest of the day I decide to practice the Asshai'i language more so that I can soon do some tests using it in my spells.
