The Arrival of Naruto in the Marvel Universe

Chapter 553: Chapter 552: Alien?

Eddie Brock has returned to his career as a journalist. Today, after work, he planned to visit his ex-girlfriend Anne again, hoping to gain her forgiveness and win her back.

However, on his way home, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following him. He glanced back several times during the journey.

After some thought, Eddie entered a convenience store he frequented, pretending to browse the items on the shelves. The person following him approached the other side of the shelves to pick out items.

Standing in front of the shelves, Eddie muttered to himself, "I'm a journalist, a fairly successful one. My job often requires me to track others, investigate their secrets, and hide myself."

"Tracking is all about leaving no traces, and that's what I'm best at."

Eddie walked to the end of the shelf and said to the woman on the other side, holding a shopping basket and selecting items, "But your tracking skills are really lousy."

The person following Eddie turned out to be Dr. Dora Skirth from the Life Foundation. Seeing that she was exposed, she directly took out her business card and said, "Alright, my name is Dora Skirth."

"Please help me. I work at the Life Foundation."

Eddie was surprised. "Really?"

"Yes."

Upon hearing that it was the Life Foundation, which had caused him to lose his job, Eddie turned and walked away.

"Really funny, goodbye."

"No—"

Seeing Eddie's reaction, Dora immediately followed and shouted from behind, "Mr. Brock, please listen to me."

"You suspect that Drake is up to no good, and it's all true."

Eddie walked toward his apartment and said, "Didn't you already reach an out-of-court settlement?"

Apparently, after recovering his job, Eddie had not ignored the Life Foundation. He had also heard about the out-of-court settlements between the victims' families and the Life Foundation.

"Mr. Brock, in Drake's lab, many more homeless people have been recruited this time, and the situation is even more dangerous than before. They've all signed contracts they can't even read."

"They're like guinea pigs, about to die."

To emphasize the seriousness of the situation, Dora said again, "They will all die."

Eddie stopped in his tracks and looked at Dora. "You saw all this with your own eyes?"

"Yes, absolutely."

Eddie grabbed Dora's arm and took her to a corner of a shop, looking at her. "How can I trust you?"

Dora looked at Eddie, her expression filled with sadness. "Because it's true. I used to trust him..."

"I told myself that it was worth it to cure cancer, but this time the experiments are different, extremely dangerous."

Watching compatriots die rapidly and in large numbers due to experiments with symbiotes, Dr. Dora Skirth was moved by compassion. She no longer approved of Drake's actions, believing that this was a dangerous and illegal activity.

Eddie looked at her. "Then let's go to the police."

Dora shook her head. "I can't go to the police, or else my family will be in danger."

"He's really dangerous, and he has a lot of power."

Hearing Dora's words, Eddie nodded. "I know he's very dangerous. Just because of one interview before, I lost my job the next day."

"My career was ruined, my girlfriend broke up with me, and I almost lost my house. If it weren't for my luck in knowing a helpful big shot, I would've become a homeless person."

"If you really have detailed evidence, you should be afraid, very, very afraid."

Dora nodded. "Yes, I'm very afraid."

Eddie looked Dora up and down, thinking of his own plight when the Life Foundation left him hopeless and unemployed, along with the trouble they caused him and Anne.

However, considering his task for the day, Eddie thought for a moment and said, "Dr. Dora, what you said interests me. After all, I've always wanted to interview and report on the events from the beginning."

"But I have some things to take care of right now. You'll have to wait for my contact."

Seeing Eddie agree, Dora nodded. "Okay, I'll wait for your message."

Dora had sought out Eddie because she had seen his willingness to expose darkness as a journalist and because he was the only person she knew who, despite Drake's retaliation, still managed to live a normal life without losing his job.

After bidding farewell to Dr. Dora, Eddie arrived downstairs at his ex-girlfriend Anne's apartment. Seeing the dim lights in the room and only the pet cat Beaufort climbing on the windowsill, Eddie contemplated. Just then, he heard Anne's voice from behind.

"Eddie?"

Anne had just gotten out of a taxi and saw Eddie, greeting him with some confusion.

Seeing his ex-girlfriend, Eddie seemed a bit nervous and said, "Anne, you're back."

"Yes, I'm back."

"Is there something wrong?"

Eddie looked down at his shoes, then at Anne. "Um, how have you been lately?"

Anne crossed her arms and looked at Eddie. "How I've been lately has nothing to do with you, right?"

Eddie looked at Anne and said seriously, "I'm really sorry about last time. I'm sorry I caused you to lose your job."

"I regret my rash behavior very much."

Anne looked at Eddie, surprised. "Wow, you, the stubborn and obstinate person, actually apologized."

Eddie said affectionately, "Because I miss you so much, very much."

"Just a while ago, we were about to get married, but now I can't believe we've broken up."

"Can we, can we start over?"

Anne shook her head. "No, it's impossible."

"It's all your fault, Eddie."

"It's not Drake's fault, nor is it your company's fault, it's yours."

After saying this, Anne turned around and walked straight into her house, opening the door and entering.

Eddie stood at the door, looking at Anne entering the room, speechless for a long time.

Inside the room, Anne squatted on the floor, tears streaming from her eyes, feeling somewhat relieved by Eddie's apology but she wasn't ready to forgive him just like that.

Unbeknownst to Eddie, on the rooftop, members of Team 8, Hinata Hyuga, Shino Aburame, and Kiba Inuzuka, were observing Eddie Brock from three different directions.

Kiba, wearing his Bluetooth earpiece, complained, "I don't understand why Lord Charles wants us to observe this guy."

"He's just a regular journalist. Does it really warrant the attention of all of us from Team 8?" he continued.

Shino, hands in his pockets, stood atop the rooftop, blending into the darkness of the night. He didn't respond to Kiba's complaints, but instead, one of his bugs silently landed on Eddie's back, providing a constant location for surveillance.

Meanwhile, the usually shy Hinata spoke up, "Kiba, you shouldn't disrespect Lord Charles. There must be a special reason why he arranged this for us."

"Perhaps, maybe we haven't discovered anything unusual about this guy yet."

Kiba shook his head. "No, Hinata, don't speculate."

"I'm not disrespecting Lord Charles; I just don't understand. Eddie Brock is just a regular journalist. We've been tracking him for a long time, and we haven't found anything out of the ordinary."

"Lord Charles ordered us to report and deploy the second phase of the mission once we identify any abnormalities in the target."

"But the target hasn't shown any abnormalities. When are we going to move to the second phase? This mission lacks challenge."

"Unlike Naruto and the others who can search the world for treasures. And it's been over two months, and they haven't returned yet. It seems that treasure isn't easy to find."

Listening to the conversation of the Team 8 members, their leader, Kurenai Yuhi, pressed the earpiece and said, "The target is moving. Keep up with the target."

...

After leaving Anne's apartment, Eddie quickly arrived at the Golden Gate Bridge.

Standing by the bridge, Eddie looked down at the ring Anne had returned to him, feeling extremely melancholic. His heart was full of regret for this relationship, and he didn't want to give up just yet.

Lifting his head, Eddie seemed to see the Life Foundation across the strait through the darkness. His eyebrows furrowed, and his gaze became serious. Then, he took out a business card from his pocket.

The card read: "Dr. Dora Skirth, Doctor of Interstellar Microbial Ecology" with a contact number.

Eddie pulled out his phone and dialed the number on the card. Soon, the call was connected.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Skirth."

"I'm Eddie Brock. Let's talk in detail about what you just mentioned."

...

After meeting in person, Dr. Dora Skirth began to explain, "Before we proceed, I need to tell you something. This is the cause of the matter: overpopulation and climate change are two things even Drake cannot control."

Eddie nodded. "Okay, I understand. Please continue."

"In fact, in just one more generation, the Earth will no longer be suitable for human habitation. Drake is using his private rocket to search for a new suitable habitat for humans..."

Eddie chuckled, "That's an interesting story, but what we need to hear about is the part where he's killing people, not his dreams of luring investors into the venture."

Dora glanced at Eddie and said, "Those aren't just dreams."

"The Life Foundation launched a probe ship, and upon its return, it discovered a comet."

"Comet?" Eddie asked, surprised.

"Yes, a comet. The ship's computer showed signs of life on the comet, millions of organic organisms."

"Wait, millions of organic organisms? What does that mean?" Eddie inquired.

Dora looked at Eddie and said seriously, "We brought back samples of extraterrestrial life."

Hearing this, Eddie grinned. "You mean aliens? "

"We call them symbiotes. They cannot survive independently in Earth's oxygen environment. Drake has always believed that combining humans with symbiotes is the key to human survival, not on Earth but on that comet."

Upon hearing Dr. Dora's words, Eddie's mouth dropped open, and he gestured with his hands, "Drake wants to merge humans and aliens using technology?"

"Just for the sake of living in outer space?"

Dora looked at Eddie and said, "Drake calls these humans hosts."

Eddie exclaimed, astonished, "He's really gone mad."

"Yes, he has."

"And he doesn't even have a proper experimental plan. He forcefully connects hosts with symbiotes, and if the matching fails, the host dies on the spot. There have been countless experiments conducted so far."

"Wow, I can't believe it!"

After their conversation, Eddie understood the situation better. He knew that this was far more dangerous and uncontrollable than experimenting with new drugs. But this time, Eddie was smarter. He directly said:

"Dr. Skirth, if you really want me to help you expose Drake's hypocrisy and bring him down, I need some evidence, real evidence that I can present."

"Whether it's videos or photos, I need tangible evidence. Only then can we take him down. And what you've said, without any video or data, if we tell others that Drake is experimenting on humans and aliens, nobody will believe us."

"There have been too many false reports about aliens; without concrete evidence, the public won't believe it. Such information won't make a ripple."

After some consideration, Dr. Dora agreed.

"I don't have anything in my hands, but I can take you secretly into the lab. You can take your own evidence, and after seeing those extraterrestrial lives with your own eyes, you'll understand that I'm not lying."

"Okay, let's do as you said."

However, outside Dr. Dora's villa, Kiba stood on the roof, listening to their entire conversation.

"Aliens?"

"I didn't expect to gather such information. Was this also within Lord Charles's expectations?"

"Speaking of which, we should also be considered as aliens, right…?"

After achieving her goal, Dr. Dora took Eddie and drove to the Life Foundation's laboratory.

The members of Team 8 followed closely. They were quite interested in the information shared by Kiba, especially Hinata, who was most interested in this extraterrestrial life.

Soon, under Dora's arrangement, they sneaked into the Life Foundation's company. During this period, they encountered patrolling security guards. Dora instructed Eddie to enter the lab first while she found an excuse to distract the security personnel.

Before Eddie entered the lab, Dora specifically instructed him not to touch anything.
