Chapter 350- The Harbinger Of Plagues
"Ow-ow." At this moment, Rolan walked over from the bushes, his face red and his nose bleeding from kissing the tree earlier.
"Ah, the one who finished the demon was brother Rolan".
"Heh, to think the rat could now slay a mid ranking…" Vangeance was just about to tease Rolan when suddenly, his eyes opened wide in surprise. He looked at his side, and Silvia was similarly slightly stunned too.
Why wouldn't they be, after all, the squire was giving off a unique fluctuation visible only to those who have stepped into that realm.
"Rolan, did you just get an enlightenment?" The squire blinked in confusion, thought for a while before nodding his head in a somewhat unsure manner.
"I see, then it must mean that you have managed to grasp the concept of the Transcendent state of [One with the Sword]. Congratulations, it won't be long in the future that you become a level 6 True Knight".
That's right, the unique fluctuation they were sensing from Rolan was the state of [One with the Sword]. Probably because he just grasped a small part of it, the fluctuation was flimsy and looked like it could disappear at any moment.
All of them had gained something or the other today, but perhaps the one who gained the most here was probably Rolan. In the future, as he trained more and further deepened his understanding of it, he would be able to enter this state at will.
"How is the little girl?" Silvia changed the topic to the most important thing at hand.
"She is fine, I used [Cure All] on her earlier. She is just unconscious because of the shock".
No one could blame her after all, her home was suddenly attacked one day, her mother got buried under the rubble while trying to help, and then what appeared before her was the nightmarish looking Darkmaw. It could be said that the little girl went through a lot.
"I see, I guess, things here are mostly wrapped up. Let us return to the city," Silvia instructed.
As dealing with the mid ranking demon took a lot out of them, the squires had forgotten about an extremely important thing. The ritual that the Creepy-Crawler performed and the profound magic circle that had absorbed all the blood and corpses.
The true identity of the magic circle was a Summoning Gate, and the one to answer it was…
A being with skeletan like body and wearing robes stepped out of the gate behind Silivia and the others.
BOOM… The moment it arrived, it was like the herald of death itself, a pressure so suffocating that it made them freeze in their place without daring to move a single step.
Ominous wind blew, and the lush green trees and grass in the air started withering just from its presence.
Slowly, while gulping their parched throats, the squires turned around, their movements stiff and robotic. At that very instant, all the colors left their face and they had the urge to fall down on their knees.
If a rank of the demon was determined by the horns on their head, then what about the being in front of them with six horns protruding from their head?
The squires had no idea, nor did the knights; they didn't know what to make of it. Though one thing was certain, they were no match for this being. No, far from being a match from its view, they might as well look like ants. That was how big a gap there was.
And then there was that presence that made them feel like they were shoved to the pits of a dark, dark hell from which there was no returning. Simply breathing in front of this being was proving difficult; forget about fighting.
That said…
"Run, you guys. I-I'll cover your backs." Even the most resilient of them, Vangeance found his voice shaking as he spoke those words. It was clear that the being in front of them was a demon, and given its extraordinary strength and presence, it was greater than a high ranking demon, probably a Demon General.
"W-What are you saying? Y-You are no match for it?" Silvia rebuked. There was a limit to acting tough, and this was not a situation to do so.
"That thing is no Demon General but one that is even higher up in the pecking order," the talented knight had difficulty saying out those words.
"It's a Heavenly King!!".
"!!!" The squad all looked deathly shocked.
Just like Silvia said, the one who appeared out of the summoning gate was no demon general but the Eleventh Heavenly King, Malcroth— The Harbringer of Plagues. Call it their bad luck, but at this moment, the Heavenly King had its attention on them.
"So you guys managed to bring down that Creepy-Crawler, huh? In that case, this calls for a reward. Morgul, Ulzareth, reward these humans for their bravery."
As if the Heavenly King was in a hurry to go somewhere, it called out to its subordinates who walked out of the summoning gate behind it.
Five horns and an appearance that was very close to humans, what appeared out of the gate were the incarnations of death.
"As you command, Lord Malcroth." The two demon generals dutifully nodded their heads. Finished with its instructions, the Heavenly King did not wait. It used some form of teleportation magic and immediately headed somewhere.
Now, it was only the two demon generals and the squad left here.
"Run! I said RUN!!" Vangaeance called out; no, shouted at his teammates who were paralyzed by fear. This was no joking matter, even if the most terrifying existence out of them all was gone, there were still two of those five horned demons in front of them.
He didn't even need to think about how powerful they were, as their very presence that turned the air malevolent was proof enough of their strength.
They were Demon Generals, beings that only the level of a Holy Knight or, in some cases, Extreme Knight could handle.
