The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 247- Back In Front Of The Senate Again (2)

"Father, I won't…" before she could say anything unnecessary, Gerard gestured with his hand for her to stop.

"I have reevaluated my decision. Since you want to stay here so badly, then I won't stop you. Instead, we will come here and watch over your growth".

Gwen's eyes widened in surprise at those words. How did her stoic of a father suddenly come to a change of heart?

Her eyes went towards Reinahrdt; he was the only one who could convince the other to change their mind. In any case, she was happy that she could stay with the knight order.

"Wait, what do you mean coming here?"

"Haha, it's as I said, I will be purchasing some land in the city from Sir Reinhardt and building a new mansion for us," Gerard grinned. His daughter was too naïve if she thought that she could get away from them.

The latter made a strained face, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Since her lord had no qualms with the young miss staying here, Cadence unsheathed her sword and started donning her armor again.

"Master" Gwen appeared before the former. The circumstance was different today; however, usually she was like an elder sister to her. Someone she respected a lot.

"Looks like I was wrong. Young Miss did indeed improve a lot since then," Cadence smiled. The stern and cold knightly aura was now gone.

"Big sister, I missed you." Saying that, Gwen immediately dove into her arms.

"I missed you too, young miss. Seeing you all fine and improving here has put my heart at ease. Now I can go back to my duties knowing that you are safe".

"Un, don't worry, big sis. Everyone in the knight order is very good to me".

The two talked with each other. Soon, it was time for them to leave.

"Take care, young miss".

"You too".

The master and disciple bid each other goodbye. Gerard too walked toward the carriage when he stopped in his tracks, looked at his beloved daughter a little distance away.

"I wanted her to remain oblivious to this news because I knew that it would hurt her. However, it seems like there is no other way. Sir Reinhardt, can I ask a promise from you?"

"Is this about protecting your daughter, no matter what? If it makes you feel better, then I can take a knightly oath to keep my words".

"No, your words are enough." Saying that, he took another two steps and stopped again.

"Although this is not a promise, but can I make a request to you? Just think of it as a needless worry of a father. While I do not believe that my daughter Scarlett, who should already be dead, was involved in the incident. In the off chance that she really did fall into the temptations of the demons, can you please liberate her?"

Those last words were spoken by him with incredible difficulty. Reinhardt understood his feelings and nodded his head.

"While I too believe that a knight as brilliant and excellent as Scarlett, would never fall under the temptations of the demon. However, in the off chance that there is someone trying to imitate her, I would help that person achieve salvation".

Satisfied with his answer, Gerard left. No one noticed the Divine Paladin slowly clenching his fists.

There was a reason why he was so willing to protect Gwen and even go to the Reckoning Trial if need be, and that was because he had unfinished business with that person.

If she were dead, it couldn't be helped; however, if she really was alive, then he needed to see her.

After Gwen returned to her comrades, they started bombarding her with questions. It appeared that words had already spread, causing her comrades to worry for her.

"We were on our way to the Commander's mansion. We thought we would never be able to see you. Everyone said that you had a hideous expression on your face when you left the training ground." Kevin continuously barraged her with questions.

"Too close!" Blushing a little, Gwen pushed his face away which was awfully close for comfort.

"And what do you mean by hideous expression?" BANG… A punch out of nowhere knocked the boy out.

"Your expression looks much better than before. Did the situation with your parent get resolved?" Delicia questioned.

The girl nodded her head, a beautiful smile appearing on her face. She did not explain anything, nor did her comrades ask. They were all waiting for her to speak about it to them herself one day.

A couple of days passed by, with training, mission, and community work, every day was hectic. On the fourth day since Gerard left, the thing that Reinhardt predicted finally occurred.

A missive from the council came, brought by a knight order that has been eyeing the Temple of Light's position as one of the Seven Great Knight Orders for a while now. It was the Iron Wolf Knights.

Leading his squad was none other than Guren.

"Haha, Sir Reinhardt, we meet again." The guy was all smiles.

Reinhardt nodded, acknowledging his person. His character aside, the man was a true knight, having mastered three of the transcendent states, a level 9 knight.

What's more, the Iron wolf knight order had also been active over the years, fighting demons in the borderlands, responding to emergencies, and completing expeditions. Their fame and reputation continued to climb until people were starting to pit them against the Seven Great Knight orders.

As the bottommost knight order in the recent times, the Temple of Light naturally became their target.

"I brought a missive from the council. You ought to read it". Saying that, Guren unceremoniously found himself a couch to sit on.

"Hmm, your office is not bad. I heard that you were rewarded a city from Her Majesty to manage after your recent exploits. The place is not bad, although a little too rural for me. Anyway, how does it feel transitioning from a Knight commander to a Governor of a city? Does it suit you?"
