It was because he had the information network of his father, that he was able to respond in time during emergencies. However, now that he had become the governor of his own city, he no longer had that option available to him.

A demon appeared inside the city out of nowhere, causing chaos and a large number of deaths. By the time the knights were able to resolve the issue, the entire city was razed and half the population dead.
There was no surprise till here. All those who had seen and faced demons, knew what kind of vile creatures they were. Spawns of destruction whose only goals was to create malice. Until they were completely eradicated, humans could not live peacefully.

"Demons don't appear out of the blue. The city must have been completely infected by the demonic humans. Without laying the summoning gate, it is impossible for them to appear out of nowhere."
Just like how a high ranking demon and numerous low ranking demons managed to invade their capital Solaris right during the time most of the knight orders and their Commander were gathered in one place.
It was later declared by the council that it was the doing of a corrupt noble who had fallen to the temptation of the demon, opening a summoning gate at the sewers of the capital. The case was then closed.
However, it was much too convenient of an excuse to blame a noble and stick the blame on them. The case was definitely not as simple as the council made it seem like.
That said, there was no point of him thinking about it hundreds of miles away from here. It was on Marquis Herman and other knight orders there to figure it out.

"There is a Reckoning Trial being held, and the one being put on trial is the House of Odessa. According to the people of the kingdom of Rune, the demon who attacked and razed the entirety of Staleport city with a single spell, had the appearance of… Scarlett".
It took immense strength and fortitude from the man to speak out the last name. Nevertheless, he still said everything that needed to be said.
At the same time, the moment Gerard uttered the name in the end, Reinhardt's expression changed for the first time in a while.
Why would it not, after all, the name he mentioned belonged to one of the most famous high knights of Solaris, one who had made substantial contributions to the kingdom and whose feats were legendary enough to make her the next potential future hero of Solaris.
Unfortunately, in a malicious plan set up by the demons, the rising star perished, dealing an immense blow to Solaris and probably to the whole of humanity.
Additionally, this brilliant knight whose reputation preceded her, was from the House of Odessa. Scarlett Elvina Odessa, Gerard's first daughter and also the elder sister of Gwendolyn Elvina Odessa, the young female knight in training in his order.
It was at this moment that Reinhardt finally understood what drove Gerard all the way here to take his daughter back to his house. If the neighboring kingdom is holding a reckoning trial on a noble house from a different kingdom, then it was a very big diplomatic issue.
