The Abused Princess' Second Chance

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Protect

Outside of the room, in the Kidnapper's Hideout stood Auggie, being met by fierce gazes from his brothers.

"You came out right on time Auggie, come sit down. We were just trying to figure out a punishment for the girl," Vincent commanded.

"A punishment," Auggie questioned, walking towards his brothers, "What for?"

"Have you forgotten she threw hot soup in my face," Zander barked, pointing to the red burn mark on his cheek, "That burn mark's going to be permanent! She needs to pay."

"Well what did you expect? We kidnapped her! Did you honestly think she was just going to sit in a room and cower the entire time? You threatened to hurt her, she's scared, and she's not a child. If anything you got what you deserved," Auggie defended.

"I knew it," Zander scoffed, getting in Auggie's face, "You're in love with the girl. So you'll defend her to no end."

"You don't have to be in love with someone to be a decent human being," Auggie retorted, standing his ground, "There's no reason to hurt her. There's no reason to threaten her! Leave her be."

"No Auggie, I can't just leave her alone," Vincent interrupted, "She hurt our brother. Victim or not she can not get away with this. She needs to be punished."

Auggie looked to the floor, seeing her teddy bear sitting by her doorway. He walked over to it, picking it up.

"Fine, if you want to punish her, then take this away from her," Auggie suggested, holding up the teddy bear, "I've seen her attachment to this item first hand. It reminds her of His Majesty. You want to punish her? Take this away, but no one is touching the girl."

"Fine," Vincent agreed, accepting Auggie's suggestion, "Take the teddy bear away and in the morning Auggie you can take it to the Trade Shop and sell it. Since it's from the castle, it'll be worth a pretty penny."

"Are you kidding me," Zander argued, glaring at Vincent, "She burns my face and the only thing that happens to her is getting her stupid teddy bear taken away from her. She's a grown woman, she can survive without a teddy bear. I have a permanent burn mark on my face because of her! She needs to pay!"

"Oh please, you have scars all over the rest of your body, one additional burn mark isn't going to make a difference," Dom chimed in with a chuckle, "Plus we need the money anyways."

"My decision is final," Vincent stated, "Only the teddy bear gets taken away. Leave the girl alone."

Zander scoffed, storming out of the room.

Vincent looked at the rest of his brother, "Get some sleep," He sighed, "Tomorrow we're going to go over plans about the girl."

All of the brothers except for Auggie, left the room, heading to their rooms to go to sleep.

The hours rolled by and the house went silent. Snores from the brothers filled the house.

Inside Gabrielle's room (in the Kidnapper's Hideout) she laid, her back pressed against the cold floor. She began shaking, nightmares overfilling her dreams. Tears rolled out from her closed eyes, her heart began pounding against her chest.

"Ansel," She cried out in her sleep.

She continued crying out for Ansel, her shrieks filling the house, waking Auggie out of his sleep.

He ran into her room, seeing her scream in her sleep, he rushed over to her side.

"Hey Miss, wake up," He shouted, "You're having a nightmare."

Worry filled his heart as she continued to scream and fight in her sleep, calling out for Ansel.

He rushed out of the room, grabbing the teddy bear.

He came back, setting the teddy bear next to her.

"It's alright Miss, please, please calm down," He comforted, watching her slowly calm down, gripping onto her teddy bear.

He let out a sigh of relief, watching as she cuddled up next to her teddy bear in her sleep. He looked next to her, seeing the ruby ring that fell out of her pocket. He picked it up, putting it in his pocket, and left the room, falling back asleep in the living room.

The hours rolled by, the bright sun filled the sky.

"You gave her back the teddy bear,"

Zander's shouts shook the house, waking Auggie.

Auggie looked up, seeing Zander towering over him, his (Zander's) fists balled up.

"So you just love her so much that you can't stand by your brothers," Zander barkered, "After what she did to me, how can you so easily betray me, betray us like that."

Auggie stood to his feet, rolling his eyes.

"Oh calm down, I didn't betray you. She was screaming in her sleep so I…"

"I don't care, Auggie! She burned my face," Zander lashed, interrupting Auggie.

Their argument filled the house, waking their brothers, making them come into the living room.

"What's with all the shouting? It's too early in the morning to be having an argument," Dom sluggishly stated.

Zander looked at his brothers, his eyes filled with rage.

"He gave her back her teddy bear," Zander fumed.

"Because she was screaming for it in her sleep," Auggie shouted.

Zander turned his head, looking at Auggie.

"So because she screams, you betray your brothers? Some brother you are," Zander ridiculed.

"It's just a teddy bear. Why do you want to make a woman you don't even know suffer? What has she done other than try to escape after YOU made a comment implying that you would hurt her? Who wouldn't try to escape after that? You want to abuse her, you must be sick in the head," Auggie scolded.

"And it all comes out. You're worried I'll defile the woman is that it," Zander smirked, "I can't say it hasn't come across my mind a few times. I think I should get the chance since she destroyed my face but since you love her so much I'll give you the honors of going first."

Auggie grabbed Zander by the neck, picking him up off the floor.

"I don't know if you're just sick in the head or truly an evil person but at this point I don't care. I don't know what kind of sick joke you think you're making or what kind of game you're playing but I've had enough. If you think for one second I'm going to let you commit a horrendous act like that on her or on any woman you have another thing coming. Brother or not I will personally snap your neck with no remorse. Now drop it, do you understand," Auggie scowled, staring into Zander's widened terror filled eyes.

"Enough Auggie," Vincent commanded, "Let him go."

Auggie continued staring into Zander's eyes, tightening his grip around his neck.

"However much strength you think you have, I want you to remember that I'm the muscle of the group. You will never be stronger than me. Remember that. If you hurt that girl I promise you I'll make you wish you had never stepped foot on this Earth," Auggie warned, throwing Zander to the floor.

Zander rubbed his neck, his mind filling with disbelief.

"Alright let's all calm down… Now whether I agree with what Auggie did or not it doesn't matter, what does matter is that we need the money so we're going to have to sell the bear," Vincent imparted.

"I took her ring, which should be more valuable than anything they'd offer for the bear," Auggie stated, taking the ring out of his pocket.

"She still needs to pay for what she did to Zander… Clearly she's attached to that bear… We need to take it…" Brucer insisted.

"Fine, I'll get the bear," Auggie grumbled, going into Gabrielle's room.

He looked at Gabrielle, seeing her sitting on the floor holding on to the bear. He walked over to her. His eyes filling with grief.

"Look Miss I gotta take the bear," He sighed.

"I know…" She soothed, handing the bear over to him, "It's okay… Thank you for saving me."

He took the bear, turning away from her.

"No kid… Taking the bear just makes me a monster," He muttered, leaving the room.

He looked at his brothers, rage filling his heart.

"You happy," He grumbled, "I took the bear."

"Now go to the Trade Shop and sell the items," Vincent commanded.

Auggie's eyes widened as he gripped the bear.

"I'm not going anywhere, with Zander in the house talking about how he'll hurt her," Auggie snapped.

"He's not stronger than me, let alone me with Dom and Brucer. I promise you nobody will touch the girl, now go sell the stuff," Vincent commanded once more.

"Fine but just remember none of you are stronger than me… Let that girl get hurt and I swear I'll make all of you pay," Auggie warned.

"Nobody's going to touch the girl…" Vincent promised.

Auggie glared at Zander and left the house, heading for the Trade Shop…

"He'll ruin us," Zander stated, choking out his words, "Auggie can not be trusted."
