Chapter 155: A Handicap
Even though the roar was quite loud, both Jay and Res remained unfazed.
It was probably because they had quite a high amount of tolerance.
That was why the sound didn't even affect them even by a slightest bit.
However, both of them did started to stare at the statue from which the cry was being heard.
Earlier, only Jay was able to hear the cry which was probably because he was in stealth mode.
But right now, even Res could hear it so he kept glaring at that direction as if he wanted to destroy the statue right away.
"What the heck is going on?", Jay asked since he was unaware of the situation.
"I have no idea either...", Res said with a low voice while looking at the monsterous statue.
Although it was quite gigantic, for some reason it seemed as if it was like a baby because the way it was crying was no different than that.
"What's up with this statue? Earlier it was telling not to take its staff and now...", was what Jay said right after which Res grabbed his hand.
He asked, "What do you mean by staff?"
Res was confused because he hadn't heard anything like that.
Jay averted his gazes a bit because right now he failed to understand the way to tell Res about this.
He wanted to tell that he heard the statue's voice since earlier about the staff from the moment he entered the stealth mode, but he didn't want to end up confusing Res even more because he couldn't possibly explain him in detail.
So he just nodded his head and said, "Before you cane here, I heard the statue saying not to take her staff or like she wouldn't hand over the staff..."
The moment Res heard that, he turned his gaze towards the statue yet again in order to see if that was indeed true.
'It's staff...', he wondered a bit about it while looking t the huge staff that the statue was holding.
'Could it be...!?', it seemed like he had realised something and wanted to tell Jay about that.
"Listen Jay, did the statue really tell not to touch its staff?", Res asked.
"Well... not exactly but the meaning was somewhat same...", Jay said.
"Hmm..."
"Then I guess we found the key piece of this dungeon.", Res said with a smile.
"Key piece?", Jay asked quite a confused expression because that was the first time he heard something like that.
"Yes... this is probably the most important thing in the dungeon...", Res said.
"Huh...?"
All of a sudden Jay was lost in thoughts and was remembering about the past.
He had indeed entered this dungeon for saving other hunters, but at the same time he wanted to clear the dungeon since that was what the system wanted him to do.
In the end he decided that it was for his best to clear the dungeon and this thought about taking the boss out.
But as soon as he entered the deeper areas, all he could see was the statues even after breaking which, the dungeon wasn't cleared.
Thus he entered to even deeper area and ended up reaching near the place where Makruin was waiting for him.
Initially he thought that Makruin was the dungeon boss and by defeating him, the dungeon would be cleared, but it seemed as if that was not the case.
Although, dungeon did broke his own and the clearing notification did appear due to the running away of Makruin, the actual thing was still left.
So when he heard about the so called key piece which Res said, he finally realised that the actual quest of the dungeon was still left.
'Now I get it...'
'That was why the dungeon didn't vanish...', Jay thought.
Normally, a dungeon would usually vanish once it's boss is defeated but that is only for the lower ranked dungeons.
For the ones with higher ranks, the dungeon would still exist but most of the works that used to happen would just end up getting stopped.
Though that was not the case with the Sky dungeon because the repair work happened almost immediately as if the dungeon was alive.
It was indeed quite shocking but that was the truth indeed.
'Hmm... so does that mean we have to clear this dungeon now?', he asked himself in his mind for which he already knew the answer.
"So Jay, are you ready?", Res asked while smirking.
"Huh? Ya...", Jay answered almost instantly mainly due to reflex, but he had no idea for the reason why Res was smirking.
It was probably because Res was having fun, but he wasn't sure of the exact reason which made him so thrilled enough to have fun.
Moreover, it seemed as if something big was to happen that could actually give thrill to someone of his caliber and when he turned his head towards the left, he found out the reason for the smirking.
"The statue..."
"..."
"It's..."
"..."
"Moving!!?", Jay said with a raised voice when he found the statue raise its right leg and then place it one the ground while making the whole floor tremble and shake.
"What the..."
The Sky dungeon on which they were standing could be considered as a sky island.
But this island was basically flying in the air so there wasn't something that could hold it tightly.
Therefore it was the fact that such a huge movement would without a doubt cause waves of shock tracks throughout the island and shake it heavily.
That was what worries both of them when they felt the the dungeon shaking vigourouly just by moving a single leg of the statueS
"That's... absurd!", Jay said because he was totally shocked with what was happening.
The statue was literally moving and was causing the enourmous ankihns if sound and shock waves that was completely shaking the dungeon.
For a moment it felt as if the dungeon would end up getting shattered into pieces due to the extraordinary weight of the statue with which it was moving.
But that didn't happen since both Jay and Res started to atta k the statue right away so that it couldn't walk towards them anymore.
"Dark Lightning!", Jay shouted right after which, black coloured lightning appeared out of nowehere.
'BOOM'
The lightning was strong enough to completely wipe out any statue or piece of rock, but it seemed to have minimum effect on the statue that was standing right in front of them.
"What the heck?", Jay was shocked to see that literally nothing had happened to the statue.
"Spatio Fist!", Res said in a low voice and almost immediately vansihed from the place where he was standing.
He appeared right in front of the statue and then formed a huge sphere which was composed of some weird energy which was probably made by mana.
"Hya!"
He then almost immediately fired it at the statue which made the statue consider using a shield to protect itself.
'BOOM'
'BAM'
"What the..."
There was a huge cloud of dust that was formed probably because of the explosion.
But right before that happened, Jay had seen what exactly occurred.
He saw it clearly that statue without a doubt formed a barrier which was completely orange in color.
The varied prevented Res' attack from reaching it.
That was quite the shock indeed because nothing of this sort had been expected.
They didn't even think that a statue would have any intelligence to actually use a shield to protect itself from the attack from Res.
It seemed as if the statue knew it from before hand how strong the attack was and maybe that was why it was forced to use the shield.
Though that didn't happen in Jay's case probably because his attack was quite weaker when compared to that of Res.
"Damn...", Res just stood there and waited for the cloud of dust to subside.
It was as if he wanted to take the statue down in just one hit but for some reason he was being hesitant.
The reason for such hesitation was unknown but regardless of that, it was confirmed that same attacks wouldn't work on the statue because a speck of intelligence was detected from it.
"Res sir, why don't you use your Volcanic Rush?", Jay asked
Although Res was quite famous for his portals, he was before a fire type hunter before he underwent his second awakening and probably because of that he was famously known as the hunter with fire and Porta - A Firs teleporter.
Also, his famous move was Volcanic Rush which wouldn't literally feel as if a volcano would be erupting. That was quite a strong move and without a doubt it was strong enough to defeat the statue, but then again it seemed as if Res was handicapped.
"I can't...", he said.
"Huh? Why!?", Jay was shocked to hear that and thus ended up asking the reason for it.
"Wide range or Attacks with too much of strength can't be used here..."
"..."
"It might end up destroying the place and the dungeon might crash with the city..."
"..."
The attack could end up causing devastations due to which Res was hesitating. He was no foll so he had at least a bit of common sense.
Also, his experience was a main factor in this case anyway.
Res was completely right. He knew that his attacks were too strong for the dungeon to resist it.
Moreover, it would be understandable that he would use the attack if it was an isolated area, but right now they were within some walls and that too right above a city.
So it was highly dangerous for him to go ahead and use strong fire attacks or other things.
Jay too realized that after he denied, but right now he couldn't think of anything else that could actually stop the giant statue from moving.
To be continued...
