The 7th Great God (Overlord Fan Fiction)

Chapter 64: The Winged-Humans (25)

"Mommy, you made Brighty blush!" The elven girl laughed.

"Oh sweetie, I'm sure you helped play a part in it this time." Night Silver giggled in return, as the two laughed with their foreheads touching.

"Goddess… The way she acts with that girl… It's as if that child was really of her own loins." Rocky Breeze accidentally said his thoughts aloud. Once he realized his mistake he turned beet-red in a heartbeat. "Please forgive me, Goddess. I didn't mean to speak out of…" He stammered looking down only to see the blood rush wasn't only affecting his face. Oh no, I really screwed up big time now. I have to regain control… Why did thoughts like that well up just now?

"Pfft, seems like I'm not the only one here with the desire for my own spawn." Brightness chuckled, a little relieved he was actually acting in a normal manner. "But just understand, this I won't let you have my Sil without a fight." He added with a winking tease.

"Ek, I, Uh, oh no…" Rocky Breeze continued stammering, nearly fainting when he heard those words. "I would never suppose myself to be your equal, Sir Dragon Lord." He managed to say without fainting. Though his spear was looking rather worse for wear.

Brightness looked at the warrior, using his dragon's vision and smirked. "To be able to stand there like that even with the pressure put on you momentarily… You'll grow much stronger, young-man. Sil, perhaps that should be one of the final requirements?" He said, praising the warrior for his courage.

"Oh? I was actually hoping to figure out the rules for that before bringing it up to my people. But since you mention it… Hmm, I feel that is too easy a challenge. Remember this is not some simple crafted reward. That should be one of the tests for sure, but I'd like it to be about 5 times as potent as what you had just put out." Night Silver said, still cuddling the two girls in her arms.

"I like that idea. But let's have a long discussion about it after we get these people to their ancestral home." Brightness answered, shifting the focus. Even that young-man wouldn't survive such a thing. Maybe if Moigit or Frayrsis had done it… But mine was quite powerful just now. So… It seems that, while she is willing to bear children of heroes. Sil really wants that to be a truly difficult reward to earn. I'm sure she will explain why later. But I have a feeling it's related to how high my position is. Or something to that effect.

"That's a good idea, once we're there, I'll give it my all to build a wonderful hot spring. These children seem to have gotten dirty in the last couple days. For that matter, I think everyone could use a nice warm bath. After we can discuss the rules we will follow in all of our villages. I won't interfere with many of the ones that have already been made. However, well… I'll inform you of it later. I have multiple reasons for it, so I hope you don't dismiss it out right." Night Silver said, floating up and landing back on Brightness' back. "The children and all those who can not fly on their will hop on my husband to be.. Everyone else, I'll use my magic to carry you there." She continued.

"Is it really okay? To ride on the dragon's back?" One of the elders questioned worriedly.

"I assure you, the children will be safe in my care. I have sworn to marry Sil, your goddess. That makes her people my people. And I will never raise a claw, nor fang towards them." Brightness answered, making clear what his position was. "I have seen a portion of Sil's goals. And I desire to help her see them through. As thanks for freeing myself and my two brothers here from the control and command of the Great Mother. It was that action, which caused her presence to take a dip." He continued explaining, laying his wing down as a makeshift crawl ladder for the children.

"I… I just… Our home had been destroyed by a dragon lord much like yourself… How can we trust you?" Another elder asked, trembling as they fell to their knees. "I want proof from you!" He added. I hope Goddess doesn't misunderstand me.

"Hmm, my uncle was always an idiot. He is likely the definition of fury incarnate. Even so, I am not my uncle. I even tried to fight him. Though I was meager in comparison, in fact without my wife to be… I might very well be laying in a cave, dying of wounds he had given me." Brightness answered. And then he shook his head side to side and closed his eyes, mimicking human motions as closely as he could. "As far as evidence for you to trust me yourself, I have none I can present to you at this time. And I will not fault you for being distrustful towards me. At least at first. The last thing I want is to never be able to gain your trust. You don't have to worship me the same way you do for Sil. I am willing to accept a slow change." He continued.

"Brighty, you'll have to show them what you've been working on. After we arrive at the new home. For now though, I'll protect all of my children just the same. But from now on, it'll be a little easier." Night Silver said, with a smile.

A rush of children came running to climb up on Brightness back. However, a few stopped and bowed quickly before continuing their way on up. Something that inevitably made the rest of the children do just to be thankful or kind. Whatever it was, only a child would understand.

"Mother, how shall we carry the equipment and personal effects from all of the villagers?" The Dwarven Leader asked, curious about the logistics again.

Night Silver smiled. "You two hold on tight alright?" She said to the two girls that were now sat upon her lap. And with a snap she put all of the items into her player storage box. It's damn near infinite on the inside so this won't be too difficult to pull off. "I take it, that is enough." She giggled, wrapping her arms around the girls again.
