That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Multi-Harem

Chapter 1: Encounter in Another World

It had been about a week since Satoru Mikami, 37, was stabbed to death while protecting his junior colleague Tamura and subsequently reincarnated as a slime in another world.

In the deepest part of the Sealed Cave within the Jura Great Forest, he had encountered Veldora the Storm Dragon, who had been sealed away.

The two became comrades, with Veldora bestowing the name Rimuru upon the slime, while Rimuru gave the name Tempest to serve as their shared surname.

To release Veldora's seal, Rimuru temporarily consumed Veldora along with the barrier using his Unique Skill: Predator.

Now, as Rimuru continued to fight off attacking monsters, consuming them and gaining their skills while searching for an exit, something caught his attention.

"What is this...?"

Before him lay the corpses of humans, presumably those who had ventured into the cave to investigate it. Some were ancient, while others appeared more recent.

The equipment ranged from metal armor and leather gear to robes. There were also various weapons, including greatswords, shields, and staves that exuded strong magical energy just from detection.

"Adventurer corpses, huh?"

"Notice: They are likely individuals who came to investigate Veldora's seal."

As Rimuru had suspected. To leave their remains to decay in this lightless place felt tragic. It may have been an act of personal satisfaction, but Rimuru decided to let them rest within his "stomach."

Activating Predator, he began consuming the adventurers' corpses and their belongings.

The quantity was significant, and there were even containers holding items like Hipokute Herbs, Magisteel, and monster remains, which took quite a while to consume.

Once the final corpse had been devoured, Great Sage delivered a report:

"Notice: Analysis complete. Mimicry of a human form is now possible."

"Alright! This means I can finally become human! Time to try it out—though I'll need to tweak my appearance afterward."

Rimuru immediately activated the mimicry ability. Given the large number of humans he had consumed, he couldn't predict what form he'd take, but the result was surprising.

His new appearance bore no resemblance to any of the adventurers. He—or rather, they—had long, sky-blue hair and an androgynous, youthful face.

"Huh? What's with this appearance? None of the adventurers looked like this."

"Notice: A powerful Spiritual Body has seemingly fused with your form. It is believed that this entity has influenced your appearance."

"What!? Is that going to be a problem?"

"Notice: At present, there is no interference beyond the human mimicry data. However, analysis, identification, and removal of the Spiritual Body are currently impossible."

Even Great Sage didn't know everything, it seemed. Still, if it wasn't causing immediate problems, Rimuru decided not to worry about it for now.

He had more important things to focus on, like testing the skills he had just acquired.

"Alright, Great Sage, please try out the skills we just acquired."

"Notice: Activating Extra Skill: Otherworldly Summon."

This skill had evolved from summoning abilities like Demon Summon and Spirit Summon, which Rimuru had gained from consuming the adventurers.

This skill seems to be able to summon demons and monsters by consuming a large amount of magical power, however, it is completely random which means you cannot summon a targeted being. To put it simply, it is similar to the gacha in social games.

As the skill activated, a magic circle appeared on the ground before Rimuru.

He felt his magicules being rapidly drained as light burst forth, illuminating the entire cave. A blizzard-like wind, so intense that even Rimuru's Heat Resistance couldn't fully suppress the sensation of cold, raged for a time.

When the light and wind subsided, the magic circle vanished, and in its place stood a girl—a breathtakingly beautiful one. She had long, snow-white hair that shimmered like fresh snow and striking sky-blue eyes. Rimuru found himself staring, mesmerized by her beauty, which surpassed anything he had seen even in his previous life.

"Is this... summoning magic? And this presence... Veldora-chan's?"

The girl muttered softly to herself before gazing intently at Rimuru. He panicked internally, he had to say something.

"H-hello! I'm Rimuru, a slime. I promise I'm not a bad slime!"

Rimuru tried delivering a cliché line straight out of a game, just in case the girl was another reincarnated individual or a summoner like Veldora had mentioned.

However, the girl tilted her head, seemingly confused.

"Tell me, why do I feel Veldora-chan's presence coming from you?"

The girl asked while gently lifting Rimuru's slime body into her arms. 'Veldora-chan? That had to mean Veldora, right? Could she be someone who knew him?'

"Well, the truth is..."

Perhaps because she was the first human Rimuru had encountered in this world, he decided to be honest.

Rimuru explained everything: how he was a former human from another world who had died and been reincarnated as a slime; his meeting with Veldora deep in the cave and how they had named each other and become comrades; the plan to break Veldora's seal, with Veldora working from the inside and Rimuru from the outside; and his current journey to find the exit.

"I see... so you're the reason Veldora-chan's presence suddenly disappeared." The girl chuckled softly as she spoke.

Then, she introduced herself as Velzard, one of the only three True Dragons in existence and the White Ice Dragon. It turned out she was Veldora's elder sister.

"Um, you're not angry? I mean, I kind of... ate your brother, even if it was to break his seal."

"Fufu, I wouldn't get mad over something like that. Besides, I'm quite surprised that Veldora-chan managed to make a friend."

Velzard's expression was warm, and her smile was genuine. It seemed that, as Veldora had mentioned, dragons were at the pinnacle of this world's hierarchy and had few equals with whom they could converse. Velzard was likely happy that her brother had found a companion.

"So, um... now that you've been summoned, what are you going to do, Velzard-chan? I imagine someone like you could easily sever this contract."

"True, I could undo it with no trouble at all... but I think I'll stay with you for now."

"Really? Are you sure about that?"

"Yes. I've been wanting to spend some time away from certain people, and this seems like the perfect opportunity."

There was a hint of sadness in Velzard's expression as if she were trying hard to hold back tears.

Even Rimuru, despite being clueless about women's emotions, could tell it wasn't something he should bring up. He wisely decided not to press the matter.

"Alright then, nice to be traveling with you, Velzard-chan."

"Just Velzard is fine."

"Got it, Velzard."

And so, Rimuru met his second companion in this world—Velzard, someone with whom he could communicate freely.

Together, they began their journey. Little did Rimuru realize at the time that Veldora's disappearance and Velzard's arrival in the Jura Great Forest would have monumental consequences for the world…
