Terraria: Shadow of the Last Light

Chapter 9: Time For A Change

I went deeper inside the cave I was hiding in to search for materials, although I don't have any torches or a way to make torches, It'll be fine, I'll just my other senses to see.

...

...

...

About 2 days later.

"Aaaaah"

"The smells so much better out here than in the cave"

Anaya finally got out of the cave and into the surface world, and she is ready to go to the capital city of the human territory.

She got her map out of her inventory to see which direction she needs to go to get to balroc city.

Then she went on her way, jogging the way there to get there before the night arrives.

She went on jogging continuously without stopping even after she saw the giant walls of the city.

"Whoa" she said in awe and without much breath.

The sun was about to set, Anaya didn't really notice at first that she jogged for about 8 hours without stopping.

About 10 minutes later Anaya finally stopped and reached the gate to the city of balroc.

Cutting it very close to night time.

"Identify yourself" one of the guards said

"My name is Anaya, I came from my village to this city to have a better life"

"Our city is not in a current position to accept anymore people, unless they are merchants, merceneries, explorers or someone with a high status, so I'm sorry kid"

"The chance for me to survive the night is close to zero with all the creatures outside who coul kill me so easily"

"We could give you shelter for tonight but not food"

"That's enough for me, thank you" I said and bowed my head a little.

"But you will have to go back to your village in the morning"

"My village was invaded by a goblin army sometime ago, and I was the only survivor, so I have no home to go back to" I said in a sad voice.

The guard didn't seem to care about my sorrow, he grabbed my shoulder and looked at me with a serious look.

"You mean to tell me that another nearby village was invaded by goblins!? which village was it?!"

"I believe it was Pinewatch" I answered.

His face changed, from a calm face to a face with fear.

"Come with me" he said pointing at me.

"Alright"

It makes sense he would want me to tell his general what happened, but he also said "Another village", what other village, and how long ago was that?

While following him, he entered to what seemed to be the barracks, so I continued to follow him, I knew he would lead me to the one in charge of the guards.

We continued walking until we reached a room which only had a table and two chairs, this is the interogation room.

"Alright kid, I want you to tell me everything that happened in your village"

I told him what happened, and when it started, but didn't tell him exactly how I escaped, I told him I escaped because I ran faster than an ordinary human because of the adrenaline boost people get in a life or death situation.

His expression became more and more somber the more I said.

My expression wasn't that different from his, due to having to remember such times.

"Alright kid, you are allowed to stay in the city, but, I suggest that you will stay indoors, although there are guards all over the city the night is still not completely safe, so roaming around could end badly" the guard said while putting his hand on my shoulder.

He left in a hurry after that.

Hmm

It's getting late, I should go to sleep soon.

I asked some of the guards if where I could sleep and they led me to a tiny room with nothing but a bed.

It's better than nothing, so I accepted it and went to sleep.

---------------------------------------

The next day.

I woke up from a knock on my door, I opned my eyes started streching and yawning.

"Coming" I said, while getting up from the bed.

When I opened the door I saw the guard who interrogated me, he had some bags under his eyes, he looked rather tired.

"I came to tell you that you need to leave the room, morning has already come."

"Oh, yeah, alright.."

I think it's time to explore the city today.

"Thank you for your hospitality, goodbye"

"Bye"

After I left the barracks, I went on a search for a cheap inn to stay in, I don't have much money so I had to save up where ever I could.

While walking down the streets I heard rumours of a great alchemist that makes phenomenal potions, but refuses to share his secrets.

I think I might have a good idea on his secrets...

Maybe I could also sell some potions.

And maybe me and that alchemist could be co-workers, or partners.

But I would prefer to train in my magic too.

...

While I was walking through the markets, I noticed a shady looking group stealing from someone, that sight made me quite angry, so I went to the alley.

"What is going on here?" I asked the shady group.

"Don't get into our buissness and we'll have no trouble with you, brat" The one who seemed in charge said.

I got mad after that last comment, when I got angrier I could feel heat coming from my hands and when I glanced I saw that my hands were red, as if I was heating them up but it didn't burn me, it seemed like I was using fire magic.

I released the anger by using my newly aquired fire magic on the thugs, they were surprised to see a child use fire like that.

When one of them tried to stab me in the back I quickly turned around, grabbed him by the hand and threw him unto the wall effortlessly.

"Who's next?" I asked in a calm and sweet voice, which truely scared the thugs and they ran away.

I giggled and walked towards the man they were robbing, "Are you okay mister?" I asked him.

"Yes, thanks to you... I have never seen anyone do something like that, how did you do that and made it seem so effortlessly?"

"I had a great master who taught me how to fight, but the fire magic is new, well goodbye"

"Bye"

I went on with my day searching for an inn to stay in.
