Chapter 627: A Coincidental Encounter
Duoduo sat on the cross, curiously watching the bustling crowd in the square, her feet swaying in the air.
There were foreigners, a family of three, couples holding hands, and elderly with unsteady steps. They were all very leisurely, chatting, taking pictures, playing around, looking very happy.
There were fewer people during the day, but at night there would be more.
Many people looked up at this Gothic-style church in front of them, raising their phones to take pictures, yet no one noticed Duoduo's existence.
But soon, Duoduo noticed something unusual; she found a young man who kept looking up in her direction.
A little puzzled, she moved her body from the left of the cross to the right, and that person's gaze seemed to follow her.
So, Duoduo summoned a gust of Yin Wind, descended from the sky to the square, and realized why the other person could see her: because he was a ghost too.
"Are you an angel?"
The other person, curious and somewhat expectant, also seemed a bit apprehensive.
He was a young man with thick eyebrows and large eyes, short hair, looking full of essence energy.
Duoduo shook her head.
Hearing this, the young man appeared disappointed but still persisted, "But you could fly, I just saw you fly to the cross."
"Because I am a Ghost Messenger," Duoduo thought and said.
This was their new identity; previously, they always said they were Fan Souls, but a few days ago, her brother instructed them that if anyone asked, they could claim to be Ghost Messengers.
The young man was surprised, eyes widening in disbelief, as if this information was even more unbelievable than her being an angel.
He looked Duoduo up and down, tentatively asked, "Really?"
"Of course, it's true," Duoduo said, displeased.
Then she turned and left.
"Wait, don't leave, don't leave, since you're a Ghost Messenger, shouldn't you take me back to the Underworld?"
The other person hurriedly called after Duoduo.
Hearing this, Duoduo turned back and said, "I don't catch ghosts."
Young man: ...
"But you said you're a Ghost Messenger? Then what are your duties?" the young man asked.
Duoduo scratched her little head, momentarily not knowing how to answer.
"Are you lying to me?" the young man immediately said.
He really couldn't see how Duoduo resembled a Ghost Messenger.
She had no horse face, no bull head, nor was she eerie and frightening, instead, she was soft and cute.
"I'm not lying; my brother didn't tell me these things. I need to go back and ask him," Duoduo got anxious as soon as she heard the other person accuse her of lying.
"Brother? Who's your brother?" the young man immediately asked.
Duoduo: →_→
Duoduo wasn't foolish and immediately knew the other person was trying to get information out of her.
"I won't tell you."
Saying this, she summoned another gust of Yin Wind, flying back up to the cross on the church roof.
"Huh..."
The young man was startled, feeling a bit frustrated.
Then he hurriedly shouted, "I'm not a bad person. Come down, let's have a good talk, okay?"
Duoduo remained unmoved, leisurely swinging her little legs on the cross.
The young man called out over a dozen times, but seeing Duoduo unmoved, he finally stopped, and then disappeared into the crowd.
Seeing this, Duoduo happily swayed her body.
Thought you could trick me? I'm smart.
But where did the brother just now go?
She looked around the crowd but couldn't find the other person's figure.
Curiously, she descended from the cross to the square, carefully searching.
"Are you still looking for me?" Just then, a voice asked from behind.
Duoduo turned around and indeed saw the same young man standing not far behind her, looking at her with a playful smile.
It turned out he had been hiding at the church entrance; naturally, Duoduo, sitting on the church roof, hadn't noticed.
"Big liar," Duoduo said angrily.
Then she turned her head to leave, and the young man hurriedly chased after her.
Seeing Duoduo didn't fly away, he knew she wasn't really angry, and quickly explained, "I actually wanted to enter the church, and then take the stairs up to find you. After all, I'm not like you, who can fly."
Hearing this, Duoduo glanced at him sideways.
"My name is Yan Weiyi; what's yours?" the young man tentatively asked.
Duoduo looked at him and said, "My name is Lin Yunduo."
"Hello, Lin Yunduo, it's nice to meet you."
The young man immediately extended his hand to Duoduo, appearing very formal.
And children love this kind of act, showing he knew how to interact with children.
Sure enough, Duoduo extended her little hand to shake his lightly.
"Are you really a Ghost Messenger?" Yan Weiyi asked curiously.
This time, he didn't doubt Duoduo, worried she might fly away again if displeased.
Duoduo nodded and explained, "My brother said so."
"So just because your brother said so? Your brother must be amazing," Yan Weiyi followed her words.
Duoduo immediately nodded, without catching the meaning behind Yan Weiyi's words.
"Then your brother is also a Ghost Messenger, and can he fly like you?" Yan Weiyi continued asking.
"Of course, my brother is an immortal; flying is just the start," Duoduo said with a hint of pride.
"An immortal?" Yan Weiyi was taken aback.
So he instinctively voiced his doubt.
"Really?"
Hearing this, Duoduo immediately glared angrily at him and turned to leave.
Yan Weiyi quickly caught on and hurriedly said, "Wait, I misspoke. Don't go."
Hearing this, Duoduo turned back and proudly said, "My brother is amazing; he is the Qiong Province Governor, ruling over the ghost gods of Qiong Province."
"Qiong Province?" Yan Weiyi was taken aback hearing this.
"This is Si Ming, not Qiong Province."
"So what? Can't we come here?"
"Of course, of course..." Yan Weiyi quickly replied with a smile.
He was genuinely worried Duoduo would get angry again.
"Can you take me to meet your brother?" Yan Weiyi tentatively asked.
Hearing this, Duoduo sized him up.
Yan Weiyi immediately stood straight, seriously said, "I'm not a bad person. In life, I was a firefighter who died in an accident while saving others. I want to meet your brother because I have some questions for him."
