As a psychic, Luo Yuan could sense the subtle changes in Agatha's expression.

He had a faint guess as to why she was here.

Agatha spoke to Professor Oak. "You must have heard about what happened in Celadon City two weeks ago."

Professor Oak paused, then nodded.

The defeat of two Elite Four members by a Team Rocket executive was a widely discussed topic. Although the League had tried to suppress the news to protect its image and maintain stability, anyone in Professor Oak's position was aware of the details.

Noticing the puzzled looks on Gary and Luo Yuan (who was pretending), Professor Oak explained, "Two weeks ago, the League clashed with Team Rocket in Celadon City. Three of the Elite Four were defeated by a single Team Rocket executive."

Luo Yuan noticed Agatha gripping her cane tighter as Professor Oak recounted the event, but she remained silent, as his words were factually correct.

Gary, however, was visibly shaken by the revelation.

"The League's Elite Four lost to Team Rocket? I heard the League dismantled Team Rocket's Celadon City base, claiming a major victory."

Professor Oak replied, "While the League did take down the Celadon base, Team Rocket launched a counterattack. They defeated three of our Elite Four members and managed to free all captured agents and retrieve valuable assets. Did you see any mention of captured Team Rocket trainers in the news?"

Gary thought back, realizing the reports had indeed omitted that detail.

Luo Yuan glanced from Professor Oak and Gary to Agatha, whose knuckles were whitening as her grip tightened on her cane, her expression a terrifying mask of calm. He couldn't help but wince.

Professor Oak, maybe it's time to stop talking, or Agatha might just tear this lab apart.

Fortunately, Professor Oak, though not the most sensitive to social cues, did stop after his explanation to Gary.

Even so, Professor Oak, Gary, and Agatha all seemed surprised that Luo Yuan wasn't showing any sign of shock.

"Luo Yuan, did you already know?" Gary asked bluntly.

"I heard about it from Sabrina."

As a director at Silph Co. and Sabrina's boyfriend, it would have been strange if he hadn't known.

Agatha merely glanced at Luo Yuan, her interest waning.

She'd never suspect that the Team Rocket executive who'd humiliated her and Lance was now standing in front of her as an innocent rookie trainer.

"So, Agatha, what brings you here?" Professor Oak asked, a sense of impending trouble washing over him.

After all, anything that could bring Agatha—who'd severed ties with him years ago—to his lab couldn't be simple.

"Team Rocket's power has grown too strong. They're now a threat to the upcoming Indigo League. To prevent any possible attack on the League, I'm here to ask that you attend, as an extra measure of defense against Team Rocket."

"Me? To defend against a Team Rocket attack?"

Professor Oak blinked, processing her words, then nodded slowly.

Despite years in research, he hadn't lost his edge as a Pokémon Trainer. His Pokémon, though lacking recent battle experience, still shared a strong bond and sharp instincts with him.

"Lance will be in touch with you about it," Agatha added, turning to leave.

"That's it? Why not just call me?" Professor Oak asked, surprised she was leaving so abruptly.

He'd assumed she had come in person for something more urgent.

Hearing this, Agatha paused.

"Call? I forgot all about that."

With those words, she stepped out of the lab.

As Professor Oak and Gary watched her leave, Luo Yuan felt like he'd just witnessed a scene straight out of a romance drama.

Professor Oak's renown in Pokémon research had only grown over the years, but his personality had drifted closer to that of a classic, oblivious scientist.

It was clear Agatha had seized on this as a pretext to see him. And Professor Oak hadn't even noticed.

Still, her request for him to join the Indigo League's security measures likely stemmed from Luo Yuan's last encounter with the League—his show of force with Mewtwo and Deoxys had left a lasting impression.

If Team Rocket were to pull a similar stunt at the Indigo League, even the League's considerable influence might not be able to contain the fallout.

That was why they'd called on Professor Oak.

It's solid preparation—but they're aiming in the wrong direction. Team Rocket has no interest in the Indigo League.

Team Rocket was hardly a mindless terror group; every action it took had a clear purpose.

An attack on the Indigo League—an idea anyone would consider absurd—would never pass within Team Rocket.

Even if someone in the organization proposed it, Giovanni would shoot it down immediately.

The League's leaders must have known this deep down. But the pressure Luo Yuan had put on them in their last encounter must have rattled them enough to prepare for the worst-case scenario.

As Professor Oak went to retrieve his research on Mega Aerodactyl, Luo Yuan considered how he might use this information.

If the League would be concentrating its forces on the Indigo League, other areas would inevitably be left more vulnerable.

This could be a perfect opportunity for Team Rocket to move.

Lost in thought, Luo Yuan accepted a stack of notes from Professor Oak.

"These are the records from my research on Aerodactyl over the past few days. I hope they're helpful," Professor Oak said.

"Are you not going to continue the research yourself?"

"You heard Agatha—I need to get my Pokémon back in shape for the League. It's been a long time since we've trained," Professor Oak replied.

Luo Yuan nodded, deciding not to interrupt further.

Just as he was about to leave, he spotted Gary rushing over.

"Luo Yuan, Ash is back!"
