Team Rocket’s Second-in-Command!

Chapter 193: Team Rocket’s Second-in-Command! [193]

The appearance of Luo Yuan's massive Dragonite was nothing short of breathtaking.

Even though its size had been reduced by half, it was still an incredibly imposing sight.

The sheer size of the Dragonite created a powerful visual impact.

Whatever anyone else thought, Gary was stunned the moment he laid eyes on the gigantic Dragonite.

As for the more seasoned Professor Oak, he quickly recovered from his initial shock, immediately recalling Bill's research paper from years ago.

"Is this… the same enormous Dragonite that Bill spent years studying?"

Although he framed it as a question, Professor Oak's expression made it clear he'd already decided the answer.

In this world, apart from the Galar region, there were very few oversized Pokémon, and colossal Dragonite was even rarer.

Luo Yuan nodded. "I had a good connection with Dragonite, and since it's been a solitary dragon for too long, I decided to catch it and bring it along on my journey."

Hearing this, Gary couldn't help but feel a pang of envy.

From what he knew, Luo Yuan already had a Dragonair, and now he'd added a Dragonite. He was definitely living the dream.

His Arcanine suddenly didn't seem quite as special.

Of course, Gary's envy was short-lived; he knew that even if this enormous Dragonite had appeared before him, he wouldn't have had the power to capture it.

During this conversation between Luo Yuan, Professor Oak, and Gary, Aerodactyl had started growing restless.

The Mega Evolution had significantly enhanced Aerodactyl's strength, but it had also amplified its aggressive temperament.

Hearing Aerodactyl's impatient growls, Luo Yuan raised an eyebrow.

This guy was really getting too cocky, but that was fine by him—Luo Yuan was more than ready to deal with a little overconfidence.

With a faint smile on his face, he glanced over at Aerodactyl.

Gary, noticing the look on Luo Yuan's face, shuddered.

"That smile… it's that smile!" Gary thought to himself.

He knew that expression all too well.

Every time he'd challenged Luo Yuan, just before getting thoroughly beaten, Luo Yuan would wear this exact smile.

At this thought, Gary couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Aerodactyl.

And with that backdrop, the battle finally began.

"Gaaaoo!"

Aerodactyl let out a roar, flapping its wings and soaring high into the sky, casting a taunting gaze down at Dragonite.

Having been trained by Luo Yuan for so long, Aerodactyl had learned plenty of battle techniques.

For instance, facing a large opponent, it naturally assumed speed would be its advantage, so it aimed to keep a distance, planning to wear Dragonite down with hit-and-run tactics.

Circling in the air, the Mega-Evolved Aerodactyl, with its 150 Speed stat, zipped through the sky, leaving afterimages in its wake.

But Luo Yuan remained calm.

After all, he'd trained Aerodactyl himself.

It was easy for him to see through its tactics; he knew that this harassment strategy relied on unsettling the opponent, creating an opening for a decisive blow.

From the air, Aerodactyl launched a barrage of Rock Slide.

Massive rocks rained down, gaining momentum from gravity, each one packing considerable force.

Luo Yuan instructed Dragonite, "Don't panic. Set up Reflect, and watch its movement closely."

Knowing Aerodactyl's quirks, Luo Yuan understood its patterns. In a limited battle area, Aerodactyl couldn't truly move freely, so its path had to be predictable.

As for Reflect, it was a skill Luo Yuan had taught Dragonite, who also knew Light Screen, to compensate for its lower defenses.

A large, translucent shield materialized above Dragonite, enveloping it in a protective barrier.

The rocks clattered against the Reflect barrier, producing a sound like raindrops on a tin roof.

After its first attempt failed, Aerodactyl wasn't discouraged.

It opened its mouth and fired soundwaves, bombarding Dragonite with Supersonic to disorient it.

But by then, Luo Yuan had already identified Aerodactyl's flight pattern.

"Dragonite, move to the ten o'clock position and use Dragon Pulse."

At Luo Yuan's command, Dragonite spread its wings. Despite its massive size, it surprised everyone, even Professor Oak, with its agility.

As if its bulk were just for show, Dragonite darted forward with a single flap, soaring like an arrow from a bow.

Evading the sonic waves, Dragonite opened its mouth and launched a mighty Dragon Pulse.

ROAR!

The large purple beam tore through the sky like a spear, cutting straight toward Aerodactyl's path.

Caught off-guard by this perfectly timed attack, Aerodactyl hastily tried to stop and evade.

But having only recently achieved its Mega form, Aerodactyl was still struggling to control its increased speed.

With a Speed stat of 150, further boosted by its prior acceleration, Aerodactyl strained its wings, attempting to change direction, but couldn't fully dodge the powerful beam.

Dragon Pulse grazed the tip of its wing.

Screeeech!

Pain coursed through Aerodactyl's body, causing it to wobble in the air, its flight path destabilized. Combined with its abrupt change of direction, its speed plummeted.

Luo Yuan, who'd been watching closely, seized the opportunity.

"Dragonite, use Agility!"

The large Dragonite moved with surprising grace, charging toward Aerodactyl like a chubby orange lightning bolt.

In the blink of an eye, it was right beside Aerodactyl, whose eyes widened in shock.

"Use Thunder Wave!"

Luo Yuan opted for the move that most trainers dreaded.

The antennae on Dragonite's head sparked as they brushed together, sending arcs of electricity towards Aerodactyl.

Seeing the Thunder Wave closing in, Aerodactyl panicked.

From Luo Yuan's training, it knew all too well the impact Thunder Wave could have on its speed.

Thinking quickly, Aerodactyl pulled in its wings, letting its momentum carry it forward in a parabolic dive, narrowly avoiding the electric arcs.

But in its desperate evasion, Aerodactyl overlooked one detail.

Seeing Aerodactyl directly below Dragonite, Luo Yuan's expression grew amused.

"Is it offering me an opening? No… Aerodactyl's not that clever."

"Alright then… Dragonite, use Body Slam!"
