TBATE: The Rook

( three days later)

At the dinner table me , my mother and grandfather are eating dinner together peacefully , and I'm thinking how can I tell my mother that i want to be an adventurer without her getting mad and quickly refusing , i know that she will not accept but I have to try , if she still refuses I will simply run away , i know that will break her heart but I have to , it's for the best .

"I'd like to become an adventurer." I said loudly 

"..."

" why are they ignoring me " , I thought annoyed, they stopped for a second and continued eating.

" mother I'd...…" I didn't get to complete my sentence.

" NO , i heard you the first time " . She said in a low cold voice.

" but mother your...."

" I said no " now looking at me will responding.

" I'm trying to have a conversation with you but you shut me down without even listening to my reason " i muttered in an irritated voice.

" I heard you and I don't care about you reason " 

" mother i..." 

" ENOUGH " , she shouted while standing from her chair.

"No! Absolutely no way! Ellis ! Do you know how dangerous it is to become an Adventurer? You're the only person that I can't lose and now you're saying you want to go get yourself killed out there? No way! Absolutely not.

My mother was on the verge of tears while she said this . She had never been good at controlling her emotions.

After being silent the whole time, my grandfather finally spoke up. "Grace , let's hear Ellis out at least. I'm not saying I agree to him becoming an adventurer but don't you think we should at least listen to what he has to say?".

"How can you say that , he's almost eight, eight years father, do you hear yourself , if anything happened to him i can't…..!" my mother velled, breaking down into a fit of sobs. 

I grabbed my mother's hands. "Mom. I wasn't planning on leaving tomorrow. What I meant by becoming an adventurer was so that I can get some experience , I can take Riva with me if that makes you feel better ."I urged, not letting go of Mother's hands

She was still silent, but her face softened a little at that , I just gave her a warm smile and said , " I just thought that becoming an adventurer would be the best way to gain some practical experience,". 

" Ellis Rose my answer will not change even if you have an army with you , you are barely eight years!, ask me the same question in you eleventh birthday then and just then my answer will change." Grace said firmly.

Shaking my head, I say to her. "Mom, I'm not going to go on long trips or go on dangerous missions to faraway places. I'll try to come back every few months, maybe even more frequently than that, depending on what I do ."

And she lifts me without an answer.

 " fine " , I said walking out of the dining room to my bedroom.

 Closing the door behind me loudly I mattered under my breath, "Ok i tried nicely and she didn't care , then don't blame me for what I'm about to do" , I know that what she said is right and my age is even worse but I can't delay any longer , it's for the both of us .

( next day at night)

Looking out form the window, I took in the sight of the moon , shining in all its glory, " today finally the day " , I muttered to my self as I made my way to my wardrobe.

I just finished packing my bag , food , clothes , tents...ext, I have everything that I need with me ooh i almost forgot about it, going to my bed and lifting it up, "here you are" .

A small black box, opening it , inside there is the ring that I refused to have , the problem with this ring is that the moment i put the ring in my finger it will transform to a tattoo in the back of my hand and i will not be able to explain it to my mother .

The worst thing about it is that it's bind to my shadow , any non living thing that i put in my shadow will automatically transfer to my ring storage space , like that I will be unable to put weight on my body, that was one of the things that I was excited to try in the ten shadows technique , it have advantages and disadvantages , like the unlimited amount of space inside, times stop to what ever I put in and even if my hand is cut I will still be able to have access to the storage ring .

After thinking about it I wear the ring in my right hand, " it's glowing " I mattered , after a few seconds it terns into a liquid substance before heading to the back of my hand and settling into a tattoo, a square shape , inside the square are four C shapes facing the opposite of each other, in each empty spot there a letter in a unknown language.

Moving my hand around and lifting it up I said " Hmmm it's looks pretty cool ".

Taking a big breath, I activated Mirage Walk and made a dome of silence around me, I'm basically invisible now no body can sense me anymore the only way is by direct vision, I start walking toward the back door of the mansion carefully, the moment I walked out of the back door there is nothing left except the fence gate , i saw him , my grandfather standing in the path of the gate .

"Here he is , the I don't listen to anyone boy "

" How " i said , I was shocked actually, there is no way that he can sense me and he can't see me without me noticing him.

" Love " my gramp said with an annoying grin.

 My gramp start walking towards me slowly " now let's go back and forget that ever happened " in a serious tone he said.

" I can't " I responded to him calmly.

" Ellis what are you attempting to do will hurt your own mother mentally" in an angry tone he said .

" I know, I tried to negotiate with her but she didn't bugged." I replied.

" Negotiate, really Eli fucking NEGOTIATE!! " he started to walk again towards me and stopped in front of my face, " THERE ARE NO NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN A MOTHER AND A SON!! , you are asking for the impossible." He started to scream, " Ellis please don't do this to her " . He pleaded.

" except me you are the only person she have Eli , please don't do this, she been through a lot and you are her only pillar , it will break her " in a broken voice and eyes shining with tears he said.

" grandfather you can't change my mind and you can't force me to stay here so please move out of the way " I start to feel bad for my mom,that woman only wants the best for me, if I stay here any longer I might change my mind so i need to go immediately.

Looking at my gramp eyes and letting him see my insistence on my decision after a few seconds he finally realized that nothing he could do or say will make me change my mind, " sigh, I know I can't change your mind but i need you to promise me two things, never die or get seriously injured and don't come back before finishing what you went out to do and hurt your mother heart, because if you come back you will never be able to go back out ." 

" I promise " I replied in a soft tone.

" good , take this " he puts his hand in his pocket and take out a storage ring , " inside there's a letter , a adventure card and money ' 

He said will looking at the moon " now scram kid before I wake up your mother " . 

I said in a voice full of gratitude " thank you "

" you are not welcome ". 

Well I definitely deserve that.

Walking to my next destination I started to think about my plans . 

Ok first thing first I need food lots of it because there will be a strong shortage when the war starts , 

a big base of operations for me and the important people to my self it need to be well hidden and big , 

information about the enemy and the people who betrayed this continent to have evidence against specific people , 

I will try to destroy their own bases, i also need to get The corrupt core to at least delay there plans , 

tame the rest of my shikigami and lastly develop new spells the most important one will be my , Mana Art : simple domain.

I decided that I didn't need to be an adventurer now so I skipped The Guild Hall and directly went to the Beast glades . 

The Beast glades , a vast territory populated by mana beasts of all levels. This territory, however, remains unexplored due to the danger of exploring deeper regions. It is located in the eastern part of the continent.

Crossing through the teleportation gate, my senses jolted from the scenery . The City of Xyrus had the most teleportation gates among the cities since they were the only way one could enter it, it being a floating city and all. The one we crossed led us directly to the front entrance of the area known as the Beast Glades •

The chirps of birds, occasional cries and roars of beasts, and the constant sound of water flowing filling the background all created an enticing symphony of nature.

The sight of tall trees and numerous hills covered in various plants and shrubs made it hard to believe that this beautiful landscape was filled with magical beasts capable of killing even the strongest mages. However, because of abundances of natural resources on the outskirts, it was mostly only the lower rank beasts that inhabited this area. The deeper an adventurer traversed, the more mysterious and treacherous the landscape turned, filled with the lairs of powerful beasts that have amassed their treasures and power in the solitudes of unexplored regions in the Beast Glades.

I took a sip of the crisp air as I mattered " ahhh the smell of freedom and nature " , i know that's The first few tens of kilometers around the perimeter of the Beast Glades were pretty well mapped, and as long as one were at least a C class adventurer, one should be fine , so i started to walk towards the woods.
