Chapter 84: Illusion
Wang Ye moved toward Yang Junsheng, his steps light, making no sound, yet this didn't affect his speed at all. It looked like he was just walking, but in the blink of an eye, he had already covered half the distance.
Just as Wang Ye was about to reach Yang Junsheng from behind, a sniper who had been observing the Yijun Hotel through his scope suddenly turned around.
Although Wang Ye's footsteps were light and silent, the sniper had to be highly vigilant to prevent being ambushed from behind while aiming at an enemy.
Even without hearing anything, the sniper felt a sudden palpitation, this intuition making him abruptly turn his head.
The moment the sniper turned, his eyes widened in shock. The man who, just minutes ago, had been in the crosshairs of his sniper rifle, when had he appeared right behind him, less than a meter away!
The sniper wanted to say something, but Wang Ye had already knocked him out with an elbow strike.
"I'm telling you, what are you turning your head for at a time like this? What if Wang Ye arrived just now? What would you do if you missed the chance?"
Seeing the sniper turn his head, Yang Junsheng, already in a foul mood, directly rebuked him. Instinctively following the sniper's gaze, he turned to look behind and his complexion changed drastically: "Damn it!"
Indeed, Wang Ye had come, but what Yang Junsheng meant was that Wang Ye had gone back to the position near the Yijun Hotel, whereas this time, Wang Ye had come directly behind him.
"I have arrived, and so?"
Wang Ye looked at Yang Junsheng, his face filled with murderous intent, the anger in his brows seemingly enough to incinerate Yang Junsheng completely.
Yang Junsheng glanced at the iron door locked from the outside. The door hadn't been opened, nor had he heard any sound of it being unlocked, but Wang Ye had just suddenly appeared behind him.
"How... how did you get here?"
Yang Junsheng's voice trembled as he stared at the chilling face of Wang Ye. He felt a sense of horror within him; Wang Ye was like a ghost, suddenly appearing behind him. The key issue was, he still had no idea how Wang Ye had managed to appear there.
"That's none of your concern."
Wang Ye's voice seemed devoid of any emotion, just cold, like a frost blossom blooming in the deepest abyss—dangerous, cold, and even, despairing.
"All you need to know is how you're going to die in the next few moments."
Wang Ye closed in step by step, the wind howling above. Yang Junsheng felt a bone-chilling cold as he watched Wang Ye approaching him step by step. The fear of the unknown, of not knowing how Wang Ye had appeared behind him, instilled an inexplicable terror in Yang Junsheng's heart, to the point he even forgot to resist.
However, Wang Ye moved aside, picked up the sniper rifle from the unconscious sniper, and offered it to Yang Junsheng with a voice filled with icy intent: "Take it?"
"I... I... what do I want it for?"
Yang Junsheng stammered, not understanding why Wang Ye didn't just finish him off but instead handed him the sniper rifle.
"Just take it. If you want me to let you go, that's fine."
"Really?!!"
Yang Junsheng's voice was filled with joy at Wang Ye's words. He had already been in despair, and now hope was blossoming in his heart again.
He didn't want to die. He was a scion of the Yang Family, and as a major family in Yun City, they provided more than enough for him to lead a life of extravagant leisure without doing a thing. He hadn't lived enough; he didn't want to die.
"Really."
Wang Ye nodded, lifting the unconscious sniper like lifting a cat and placing the sniper's forehead against the muzzle of the rifle, saying to Yang Junsheng, "Shoot me dead, and I'll spare your life."
Yang Junsheng composed himself and stole a glance at Wang Ye, now that he had a gun in his hands, it gave him a lot of courage and also sparked some other ideas in him.
It seemed like Wang Ye knew that Yang Junsheng was having other ideas and cautioned him, "You could also choose to snipe me with that rifle, only if you feel the sniper rifle is accurate enough at close range to ensure a sure hit, otherwise, it will be you who dies."
Wang Ye's voice was indifferent, and upon hearing his words, Yang Junsheng's heart shook violently, his body growing cold with a layer of sweat forming on his back.
Indeed.
In his hand was a sniper rifle.
Due to its bulky body and length, sniper rifles were much less accurate at close range compared to other guns. Moreover, his was a single-shot sniper, and with Wang Ye standing right beside him, any adjustment to the sniper rifle's angle would easily be spotted by Wang Ye, allowing him to dodge.
So, the idea of attacking Wang Ye with the sniper rifle was simply unrealistic.
"I know, where could I, I've been annoyed by this sniper for a long time."
Yang Junsheng chuckled dryly, glancing at the sniper held by Wang Ye. The sniper's forehead was pressed against the muzzle of his gun, so no matter what, his shot was guaranteed to kill the man.
Yang Junsheng's eyes still narrowed slightly, as he pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Although the sniper rifle was fitted with a silencer, a sound still emanated from it. The sniper's head exploded instantly, killing him outright.
The powerful recoil of the sniper rifle also caused Yang Junsheng to stagger backward several steps.
Wang Ye had already forced Yang Junsheng against the wall, and the forceful recoil of the sniper rifle continued to push Yang Junsheng back. In that moment, the sheer power of the recoil left Yang Junsheng with no time to resist, and his body tumbled down towards the base of the Yu Yan Office Building.
"Save me!"
Yang Junsheng yelled at Wang Ye, only to see Wang Ye watching him fall with an emergent smirk on his face before turning to leave.
From the very beginning, Wang Ye had no intention of sparing either Yang Junsheng or the sniper. If they wanted to kill him, then they were going to pay the price.
The reason behind Wang Ye's actions was simply to distance himself, creating an illusion of a dispute between Yang Junsheng and the sniper, resulting in both of their deaths.
After removing any fingerprints and other evidence of his presence, Wang Ye left the scene.
...
Yijun Hotel.
Wang Ye entered the room, glanced at everyone inside, and apologized to them, "Sorry folks, I was a bit constipated, so I spent a longer time in the restroom."
"Junior brother, in this kind of situation, is it appropriate for you to talk about constipation?" Chen Li rolled his eyes and complained.
"Heh heh." Wang Ye chuckled with a somewhat simple and honest smile, appearing very innocent.
Only Su Wanqing looked at Wang Ye intently. Since Wang Ye had returned, it signified one thing, Wang Ye had likely succeeded.
Or... Yang Junsheng and his party had left in advance.
But knowing Yang Junsheng and his group as she did, Su Wanqing thought the likelihood of them leaving ahead of time was very slim, almost impossible.
