Tangled in Power

Chapter 22: Chapter 20: The Woman in the Mirror

Sabrina stood in front of the mirror, her gaze drawn to the lady in the reflection.

The headlines were everywhere. Charles Langford Exposed in Financial Scandal. His empire had crumbled overnight, investors pulling out, authorities investigating.

And it was all because of her.

She should've felt victorious.

Instead, there was a strange emptiness in her chest.

Her phone vibrated on the bathroom counter. She already knew who it was.

Nathaniel: Dinner. My place. Tonight.

No explanation. No question. Just another command.

She clenched her jaw and replied.

Sabrina: I'll be there.

Nathaniel's penthouse was exactly what she expected—cold, sleek, and intimidating.

He poured them both a drink, watching her closely. "Do you regret it?"

Sabrina took the glass but didn't drink. "Should I?"

Nathaniel smirked. "Regret is for people who don't understand power. You, Sabrina, are starting to understand."

She set the glass down, meeting his gaze. "And what happens when I understand too much?"

His expression darkened slightly, but instead of answering, he stepped closer. "Then you'll finally be playing the game at my level."

The air between them was heavy. Dangerous.

Sabrina didn't step back.

Nathaniel's voice dropped lower. "This isn't just about business anymore, is it?"

She didn't know if he was talking about her ambition or the tension between them.

Maybe both.

But one thing was certain—Sabrina Vance was no longer just an employee.

She was something else now.

And there was no turning back.
