Chapter 13: Chapter 13
We barely had time to revel in our survival and newfound strength when the skies above us shifted. At first, it was a distant hum, barely noticeable. Then, the air grew thick with power, the kind that made your knees want to buckle.
I looked up and froze. Creatures of immense power descended, their forms radiating an oppressive aura that made even the sturdy Voltis coil up instinctively. Asura's flames flickered for a moment, and even Laila's petal storm seemed hesitant.
These beings weren't just strong—they were legends in the making.
The first was from the Plant Empire. She floated gracefully on the wind, her form radiant and commanding. She looked like an older, more regal version of Laila, but where Laila's aura was gentle and pink, hers burned a deep crimson. Her dress was composed of living vines and blooming roses, her staff a twisted cane of thorns that glinted dangerously under the sunlight. She introduced herself as Lady Crimsonthorn.
"Little flower," she said to Laila, her voice both sweet and commanding, "join us in the Garden of the Flower Queen. There, you'll blossom into your full potential. The garden holds every nutrient, every secret a plant-based being could dream of. You could even gain the personal favor of the Queen herself. Think of the power you could wield, the beauty you could become."
---
From the Dragon Empire, a peculiar creature hopped into view—a large frog that stood upright like a ninja, its green and black skin glistening like polished jade. Its narrow golden eyes studied Voltis with a predator's focus. A small emblem shaped like a dragon was etched into its shoulder. This was Shinjin, emissary of the Dragon Prince.
"Voltis," he said in a low, gravelly tone, "your potential is immense. Join the Dragon Prince's entourage, and you'll gain access to treasures beyond your wildest dreams. You'll grow faster, stronger, protected by one of the most powerful forces in the world. You belong among dragons, not as a pet to a human."
---
Then there was the representative from the Machine Empire, a sleek humanoid robot clad in black and red armor. Its design was angular, efficient, with glowing red lines running across its metallic body. Despite its relatively small size, it exuded a presence of immense firepower, its chest housing a faint nuclear glow. It introduced itself as Axion.
"Flame warrior," it said to Asura, its voice a modulated hum, "join us in the Machine Empire. With our technology, your flames could evolve beyond comprehension. We can grant you phoenix flames, immortal flames, powers that would make you unstoppable. Why limit yourself to the whims of a human when you could forge your own destiny?"
---
High above, the representative of the Bird Empire circled—a creature so vast that it blocked the sun. It was a whale, but it swam through the sky as if it were an ocean. Its body shimmered with silver and blue patterns that reflected like waves on water. As it spoke, its voice resonated like a song across the wind. It was called Skybreaker.
"Asura," it called out, its deep voice melodic, "your flames could soar higher than the stars under our guidance. The skies are infinite, as is your potential. Join us, and we will teach you the art of flight and fire together."
Finally, the representative from the Beast Tribe stepped forward—a towering jaguar beastman clad in metallic armor that seemed both elegant and battle-worn. His amber eyes locked onto me, his gaze sharp and unyielding. He introduced himself as General Ro'thar, his voice a rumbling growl.
"You're a human," he said bluntly, "but your companions are not. They deserve better than this. Join the Beast Tribe, and I'll ensure your creatures grow to their full potential. But if you deny this offer, know that you're denying them a chance at greatness."
It was overwhelming. Each of my companions had received offers that, frankly, were hard to refuse. Even I could see the temptation in their eyes. But I couldn't let them leave. They were my family, and I trusted in the bond we'd built.
"You're better off with me," I said, addressing them all.
The representatives didn't take kindly to my defiance. Their offers became less diplomatic and more insistent.
"Foolish human," General Ro'thar growled, "you don't understand the world you live in. We offered kindness, but if you won't listen, we'll take them by force."
My heart sank as their power began to manifest, the air around us crackling with energy. I could see their intent clear as day—kill me, take my companions.
Before they could act, a shockwave of energy swept across the battlefield, silencing everyone. It was an energy so profound that even the representatives stopped in their tracks.
From the forest emerged a towering figure—Emerald Knight Aurion, the guardian of the bunny people.
He stood four meters tall, his form clad in emerald and silver metallic armor that gleamed like the sunrise. His long, rabbit-like ears gave him an almost serene appearance, but his glowing green eyes radiated authority.
"You will not harm this human," Aurion declared, his voice calm but commanding. "By royal decree, this one is under the protection of the Primal Beast Coalition."
The representatives recoiled, their pride visibly stung.
"Are... you his guardian?" Lady Crimsonthorn asked, her crimson aura dimming slightly.
"Yes," Aurion replied, stepping forward. "And you will respect my word, or you will face the consequences."
The power he radiated was overwhelming. Even the mighty Skybreaker bowed its massive head slightly in deference.
Realizing they couldn't challenge Aurion, the representatives reluctantly withdrew.
"We'll be watching," Shinjin warned, leaping into the shadows.
"You may still visit the Garden of the Flower Queen," Lady Crimsonthorn said to Laila before disappearing in a swirl of petals.
As the other representatives backed away, clearly cowed by Aurion's overwhelming presence, General Ro'thar, the jaguar beastman, remained. His sharp amber eyes softened, and he stepped forward slowly, his metallic armor clinking faintly with each deliberate movement.
"Emerald Knight Aurion," Ro'thar said, his voice low and reverent, "it is an honor to stand before you. Your name is legendary even among the Beast Tribes. I had heard rumors of your return, but I never imagined I would see you with my own eyes."
Aurion turned his glowing gaze to the jaguar, his expression unchanging but his tone respectful. "General Ro'thar, your loyalty to the Beast King is commendable, but this human and his companions are under my protection. You will not interfere with their path."
Ro'thar inclined his head, a sign of deference rare among the proud beastfolk. "Of course, Knight Aurion. I meant no offense, nor do I wish to defy your will. But if I may, I humbly ask that you consider the potential of these creatures. Their paths could lead to greatness under the Beast Tribe's guidance."
Aurion's voice remained calm, yet firm. "They are already on the path to greatness, guided by bonds stronger than power or ambition. You would do well to recognize that strength, General."
Ro'thar nodded, stepping back without another word. His respect for Aurion was clear, and though it was evident he didn't fully agree with the guardian's stance, he dared not challenge him. Before departing, Ro'thar cast one last glance at Voltis, Asura, and Laila, as if memorizing their faces for the future.
With that, the jaguar beastman turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving the clearing with the quiet dignity of a warrior humbled before a legend.
I exhaled, the tension leaving my body.
Aurion turned to me, his expression softening. "You've done much for my people. Rest now. I will ensure your safety and guide you back to your town when you're ready."
For the first time since the battle began, I felt a sense of peace. With Aurion's protection, we were safe. For now.
