Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - The Hidden Egg
---
The weight of the vision clung to Fowad as he and Sadi moved forward, silent shadows in the heart of the Sapling Forest ruins.
Even the fox spirit beast sensed the gathering tension, its growls muted but persistent as it prowled close to Fowad's side.
The dim glow of the carvings faded as Fowad and Sadi gathered themselves, breaths coming slow and heavy, their minds racing with the ancient scenes they had just witnessed.
They exchanged a glance, a silent acknowledgment of the weight of their bloodline, and moved deeper into the ruin, curiosity overpowering the faint sense of dread that lingered from Fowad's vision.
The further they went, the colder the air became, the silence thick and unnerving.
It was as if the ruin itself were alive, its walls breathing softly, concealing secrets centuries old.
They followed the faint glimmer of blue light, which pulsed like a heartbeat, guiding them through winding stone corridors lined with carvings and symbols from a long forgotten time.
As they turned a corner, Fowad's gaze caught on something strange in the shadows.
In a small alcove nestled between two cracked pillars, partially hidden beneath a thick layer of moss, sat an object that made his breath catch a beast egg, unlike any he had ever seen.
It was larger than the one he carried in his bag, its surface marred with dark, spiky veins.
The shell was cracked and dull, exuding an aura of ancient, lifeless energy, as if it had once held unimaginable power that had now faded to nothingness.
Sadi stepped closer, his brow furrowing as he knelt to examine it.
"This... this is an ancient Beast egg," he murmured, reaching out to brush away the moss.
"But it seems dead. Whatever spirit beast it once held, it's long gone now."
Fowad leaned in, his fingers itching to touch the relic, though a sliver of fear held him back.
He could feel a faint resonance within it, like a ghostly echo of power, lingering just out of reach.
The dark veins seemed to pulse subtly under his gaze, hinting at something lost to time.
Sadi sighed and withdrew his hand.
"Come, Fowad," he said, standing slowly, a faint grimace crossing his face as his wound throbbed.
"We have what we came for. There's no need to linger."
As they turned away, their fox spirit beast, which had been watching silently from behind, approached the ancient egg.
Its dark, watchful eyes gleamed, transfixed by the strange object as though something within the egg called to it.
Slowly, it padded closer, lowering its head, its nose almost touching the cracked shell.
A faint pulse radiated from the egg a shadowy flicker, barely perceptible yet strong enough to hold the fox beast in a trance like grip.
The fox tilted its head, as if listening to an inaudible whisper.
Then, almost mechanically, it nudged the egg with its snout, and the faint veins on the egg pulsed in response.
The beast hesitated, as if battling an unseen command, the egg suddenly transformed into a think line of chain and wrap itself in the fox beast as if it became a collar.
The beast straightened, the egg hidden from view.
Unaware of the strange relic now in their midst, Fowad and Sadi emerged from the ruin's depths into the towering shadows of the Sapling Forest.
The forest around them was alive with whispers, a faint wind rustling through the leaves, the canopy above casting a shadows across their path.
As they pushed forward, Fowad could feel the weight of the egg in his bag, its warmth now feeling almost ominous after the vision he had experienced.
Sadi walked silently beside him, his face set in a grim line, the weight of their journey pressing heavily on his shoulders.
Yet, behind them, in the fox beast's neck, the ancient egg pulsed faintly, its energy weaving into the fox's mind like tendrils of dark smoke, binding it to an unseen will.
The fox's usual playful demeanor had vanished, replaced with an eerie focus, its steps lighter, almost ghostly as it trailed behind.
They moved through the dense forest, the underbrush crackling softly underfoot.
Sadi's breathing was labored, each step clearly painful.
Fowad glanced at his father, worry deepening in his gaze.
"We should stop and rest, Father," he murmured.
But Sadi shook his head, casting a glance over his shoulder.
"We don't have time.
Something... something is close.
I can feel it."
His voice was a low whisper, his eyes scanning the forest with a practiced vigilance.
Fowad, too, felt a chill creep into his bones, a sense of being watched by unseen eyes lurking in the shadows.
Then, a sound broke the silence a faint snap of a branch.
Both of them froze, their eyes darting toward the source of the noise.
The underbrush was dense and tangled, casting deep shadows that made it difficult to see.
But they could feel a presence drawing closer, something relentless and dark.
They exchanged a glance, and Sadi's hand went instinctively to his side, his gaze sharpening.
"We're being hunted," he said softly, the words chilling Fowad to the core.
"Move quickly, and stay close."
Fowad nodded, clutching the bag tightly against his side, feeling the familiar weight of his own spirit beast egg.
They continued forward, their footsteps now hushed, every sound amplified in the tense silence around them.
Behind them, the fox beast followed, its steps silent as it held the ancient egg securely in its neck, a hidden passenger on their perilous journey.
Suddenly, the forest erupted with movement.
From the shadows stepped a figure cloaked in black, his face obscured, though his eyes gleamed with a predatory light.
His hand rested on the hilt of a sword, his posture relaxed yet coiled, like a snake ready to strike.
"Going somewhere?" The voice was smooth, taunting, sending a shiver down Fowad's spine.
Sadi stepped protectively in front of Fowad, his eyes narrowing as he sized up the bounty hunter.
The bounty hunter chuckled, a low, mocking sound.
"I want your life. Stop resisting, and maybe I'll give a quick death."
Sadi's grip tightened on Fowad's arm. "Fowad, stay behind me," he whispered, his tone leaving no room for argument.
His gaze flicked to the satchel, then back to the hunter.
"You'll get nothing from us."
With a sudden roar, Sadi summoned his spirit beast. The tiger appeared beside him, its once-mighty form now limping, weakened from the earlier battle.
It growled, baring its teeth as it positioned itself between the hunter and its master.
The hunter smirked, drawing his blade in a smooth, practiced motion.Summon his beast a wolf. "Very well. If you insist on making this difficult."
In a flash, he lunged, his blade glinting in the dim light as it arced toward Sadi.
The tiger leaped forward, intercepting the strike, its claws swiping through the air.
The two clashed, the sound of steel against claws ringing out as the forest bore witness to their deadly dance.
Sadi fought with fierce determination, every movement driven by sheer will despite the pain that laced through his body.
But Fowad could see his father was struggling, the toll of his injuries slowing him down.
Fowad's heart pounded, torn between the urge to fight and the knowledge that he would only hinder his father's efforts.
He felt helpless, a silent scream echoing in his mind as he watched the battle unfold.
"Run, Fowad!" Sadi shouted, his voice filled with urgency.
"Take the egg and go!" it's our last hope...
Fowad hesitated, his gaze locked on his father, but he understood.
This was the only way.
With one last, heart wrenching look, he turned and fled, the egg in his bag pulsing against his side like a heartbeat.
He pushed through the underbrush, his footsteps quick and desperate, the weight of his bloodline pressing heavily on him.
Behind him, he heard the fierce roar of his father's spirit beast, the clash of steel, and then a blinding flash of light, an explosion that tore through the trees with a deafening roar.
Fowad stumbled, the shockwave pushing him forward, but he forced himself to keep running, tears blurring his vision.
His father's voice echoed in his mind, the final words he had spoken a reminder of their strength, of their legacy.
The fox beast followed closely behind him, the ancient egg still in its neck, its eyes dark and clouded as it trailed Fowad through the twisting paths of the Sapling Forest.
The pulse from the ancient egg grew stronger, feeding a hidden power within the fox beast, binding it tighter to the egg's dark will.
As he ran, Fowad felt the presence of something someone lurking just beyond his awareness, a faint voice whispering at the edges of his mind.
The forest around him seemed to close in, he was very sacred, but the voice tells don't run boy. It's me...
It's turn out it was Sadi Benit. Fowad rushed to his father side. His father condition was very critical.
Sadi Benit tells listen to me carefully, I have many things to taught you. I don't have much time.
Fowad Benit was crying like it's end of the world for him he couldn't stop his tears...
