Chapter 2 - Could You Please Hand Me a Towel
He Gu stood at the dormitory door, his facial expression quite interesting.
Inside the dorm room, on Zhang Chao’s bed.
A fair-skinned, delicate-featured girl was lazily reclining.
This girl looked to be in her early twenties. She wore light makeup but had a certain maturity beyond her years, with a faint blush on her cheeks and an implicit allure about her.
She wore a Korean-style student shirt paired with an ultra-short skirt that perfectly showed off her exquisite figure. Her long legs, clad in black stockings, dangled over the edge of the bed as she swung her bare feet restlessly.
Looking up along her legs, one could even catch a glimpse of her underwear underneath.
Whether in figure or looks, this girl was top-notch!
He Gu, who had been single for twenty years, had never seen anything like this!
After just one glance, He Gu shifted his gaze awkwardly and stood somewhat at a loss by the door.
What was going on here?
Leaving a pure, innocent virgin alone with such a goddess!?
And his roommate’s online girlfriend at that!
Who could handle this!?
He Gu stood stunned for a few seconds before remembering to come inside. Somewhat awkwardly, he greeted the beauty, “Hello.”
The girl looked He Gu up and down. “Where’s Zhang Chao?”
He Gu: “Uh? Didn’t that jerk tell you? He had some urgent family matter to attend to back home…”
Upon hearing this, the girl was clearly taken aback. She immediately took out her phone to call Zhang Chao but only heard the prompt that his phone was off.
The girl hung up and cursed under her breath, “Liar.”
“I ran away from home to find him, and he just abandoned me like this?”
He Gu: “Uh…he said something urgent came up that he had to go back for. He’ll be back next week.”
Upon hearing this, the girl furrowed her brows angrily. “Scumbag! Big liar!”
Seeing the girl’s reaction, He Gu felt something was off. Wasn’t she taking this a bit too calmly!?
Just as He Gu stood there awkwardly wondering what to do next, the girl suddenly spoke again. “Are you his roommate?”
He Gu nodded somewhat awkwardly. “I’m He Gu.”
The girl nodded lightly. “Not bad looking, much more handsome than that lying Zhang Chao.”
“I’m Xiao Ying.”
He Gu: “Ha ha…nice name.”
Xiao Ying pursed her lips. “Do you guys have a bathroom here? After sitting on the train all night, I want to take a shower.”
He Gu pointed in the direction of the bathroom inside. “Yeah we do, but the conditions are pretty basic.”
Xiao Ying didn’t seem to care. She dragged over her pink suitcase and started rummaging through it right in front of He Gu.
He Gu reflexively glanced over and saw the contents were quite messy, with an electric toothbrush, face masks, hand cream and all sorts of little underwear.
Seeing these, He Gu quickly and awkwardly turned his head away, not knowing where to rest his eyes.
Xiao Ying was completely unbothered by He Gu’s presence. She casually rummaged through her things, tossing whatever she took out onto Zhang Chao’s bed.
After a while, Xiao Ying had gathered her bath supplies. Carrying a pink towel, she headed into the bathroom.
Soon, the sounds of running water could be heard from the bathroom, and condensation gathered on the frosted glass door.
He Gu stood in the dorm room, still unable to shake the awkwardness.
Even knowing this was a haunted world, having his roommate’s online girlfriend suddenly appear and be left alone with him still made He Gu feel uncomfortable.
“Phew…calm down, calm down…”
He Gu took a few deep breaths, reminding himself to stay calm.
“Let me think…the rules…that’s right, pay attention to the rules!”
Since everything that had just happened was so shocking, He Gu only now took out the sheet with the rules again to look them over carefully.
The first rule said to abide by school regulations, but having Xiao Ying stay in the male dorm already violated that, didn’t it?
However, He Gu didn’t bring the girl here, and nothing strange had happened yet, so it probably didn’t count as breaking the rules.
As for the other school rules, He Gu could be careful and probably avoid violating any of those.
For now, the rules that needed the most attention seemed to be number 2 and 3 – he couldn’t refuse Xiao Ying’s requests and had to maintain a proper relationship with her.
“Don’t know which one of these is fake…”
From his experience watching past livestreams, He Gu knew that almost every instance had one or two fake rules mixed in.
Many contestants had been tripped up by those fake rules.
But right now he still didn’t have enough information to discern what was fake.
There was also the hidden message he saw with his Mystic Eyes – “Take good care of the parrot. If the parrot dies, leave the school within 24 hours!”
He Gu glanced again at the birdcage hanging on the wall. The parrot was currently looking quietly at He Gu.
“The parrot…looks like the parrot is an extremely important part of this instance…”
“No, there’s still too little information to make a judgment.”
He Gu put away the sheet and closed his eyes, shaking his head while mentally memorizing the rules.
The dorm manager and Zhang Tao from the neighboring room still hadn’t appeared yet, and it wasn’t dark outside yet either.
For now, the main things to pay attention to were the first few rules – he couldn’t refuse Xiao Ying’s requests, give her a red towel, or feed the parrot anything other than bird food and water.
Especially the parrot. The hidden message specifically mentioned it, so there must be something special about it!
Thinking of this, He Gu went to the birdcage again to check – both the food and water trays were full.
Just to be safe, He Gu checked the remaining bird food in the cabinet again – there was probably enough to last a few months.
…
At the same time.
On Earth, in the Dragon Nation “Haunted Events Command Center.”
The 24 elite members were watching He Gu’s every move through the livestream.
“Good, although this kid is a bit young, he calmed down quickly and started analyzing the rules.”
“I see he seems especially concerned about that parrot. He even specifically checked if there was enough bird food. He’s quite attentive.”
“The information shows He Gu just graduated from university and seems to have never had a girlfriend before. I’m worried whether he can hold himself back facing an instance like this…”
…
Just then, one member suddenly stood up: “The contestant from Johnson just found a red towel in Xiao Ying’s luggage!”
Upon hearing this, everyone tensed up.
“A red towel! Rule number 5 – can’t hand Xiao Ying a red towel!”
“Yikes…Xiao Ying’s showering right now. What if she asks He Gu to hand her that towel when she comes out…If he hands it to her, it violates rule 5; if he doesn’t, it violates rule 2 about not refusing her requests!”
“How did the Johnson contestant deal with the red towel?”
“The Johnson contestant threw away the red towel while Xiao Ying was showering.”
“Quick! Use one of the hint opportunities to tell He Gu to also throw away the red towel!”
…
In each instance, every country had 3 chances to send hint messages to their contestant in the haunted world.
The Dragon Nation command center immediately became busy.
But just then, one member said helplessly, “Too late…”
…
On the livestream.
The bathroom door opened a crack.
Xiao Ying popped her head out, “Could you hand me a towel!”
