Chapter 16: XVI. An Unexpected Recruitment
The grayish dragon after his unexpected confrontation with the human, Reblellion went to his captain's lair to give him some important news. The second relic of the ancestors was finally present, he was happy because this information was worth a fortune and the first to give it to the captain would be rich enough to live well for a while.
"What do you want Reblellion?" said a dragon in dark armor sitting on his throne.
The mere presence of this dragon was too imposing that it inspired fear and respect to everyone around him, but what frightened Reblellion the most was the powerful sword of his captain, it was not an ordinary sword, it emanated great magic power and a sensation of danger to those who were close enough to it.
"Captain Rellix I have come to inform you of great news," the dragon bows being received by two dragons with spears pointing at him scaring him "I finally found, the second relic of the ancestors" in a flash of light the dragon is hanged by the dragon in dark armor feeling her tighten his grip.
"It better not be a lie, but dying by hanging will be the best you can aspire from me" demands the leader, releasing the dragon allowing him to speak. "Now tell me everything you know."
The dragon swallows slowly caressing his neck somewhat nervous, but he calms down because he knew that this information was true, he had witnessed it with his own eyes.
"The Colaza of the Moon appeared and I know who has it, a human girl has the relic" the dragon loses an arm, with a single movement of the sword, Reblellion had been cut without even knowing it. "AAAAHHHHH !!!!"
"I'll tell you something Reblellion, I'm a dragon who hates pranks." she raises her sword to execute the dragon "Every dragon in this kingdom knows that a human cannot stain the great legacy of our ancestors with his dirty hands, and you come to tell me that now a human has The Colaza of the Moon in his dirty hands human "buries his sword in the chest of the dragon causing it to vomit blood and with the only hand he had to hold the sword trying to prevent her from continuing to bury it in his chest.
"But ..... I mean ..... the ..... truth" The dragon expressed weakly as the life slipped from his eyes, Reblellion felt his soul and mana being snatched from him as the gem of the center of the sword was beginning to glow.
"Maybe it's true, but I'd rather believe in my sword than in an insect-like you." she makes a move on the sword and finishes killing the dragon, when the sword completed its shine, the captain checked the dragon's memories and smiled when she found out that it was true what her victim said "Wow, this is Alexandra the daughter of the Greater Dragon of the oceanic Magarai, "sees the corpse" If you had told me Reblellion that it was her, I would not have had to kill you "the dragon lets out a laugh feeling excited by already having the second relic in his possession.
The dragons that were on the site were silent waiting for the next order from their captain, they were ready to start a war if she ordered it and they would not leave anyone alive without hesitation. The anarchist guild was willing to unleash the greatest chaos and die from that chaos as long as she fulfilled her ambitions and goals.
In the kingdom of Shairum, things had changed in recent months, many recruits were present beginning their lives as warriors between guilds, some learned new combat experiences and others regretted having taken this path. Each guild did its part to ensure peace in the different kingdoms and neighboring towns; everyone was moving in a rhythm only dragons understood. Alexandra after her expulsion from the guild had some difficulties, but thanks to the warrior level three medal she got from Captain Drigielix she could have missions without depending on a guild both inside and outside of Shairum as long as she did not go beyond the borders by Colskin. Even so, the human learned to adapt to her situation, she was already used to being despised and little valued by dragons since she was little, so it was not a big difference; she was willing to grow as a warrior by having companions or by being alone. The human had to keep a secret that she had in hand a relic of the ancestors at the request of the relic, this mystical object warned her of the great danger that a human entailed carrying something so sacred and important to the dragons and that not all of them would be As kind as Ssaull, Alexandra wanted to heed the relic but felt that she should at least tell her mother about the relic of her race, but the object insisted again as it would put both of them in a bad position. She also had no luck finding out about what happened in the human camp, shortly after her return, the girl tells her mother about her arrival at what looked like a human camp, to which Magarai with a look that reflected anguish and some guilt told her daughter that she was not yet ready to know what happened there, implying that she knew what happened there, that she was still too young to know certain things from the past and that it was better not to insist on her innocent youth. She understood and did not insist, she was still fifteen years old and she trusted that if her mother told her that he was still very young then he should respect her will. During the course of those months everything seemed gray and dull to the human, she had simple missions within the village to keep busy and from time to time she met with her friend Kaipo to talk a little about her experiences as warriors, sometimes even the human. He tried to convince him to let him join his guild missions, he did not want rewards in return, he only wanted to learn more about the warrior life but the dragon refused at every request. The following months were longer than usual, but everything changed a year later during recruitment in Shairum.
"What's going on?" Magarai asks watching as a group of armored dragons from the royal crown of the kingdom of Morkhex gathered in the main square.
"Due to the conflicts that have arisen recently near our great and rich kingdom, we must request the assistance and support of the guilds of the kingdoms allied to Morkhex" expresses the recruiter taking out a scroll.
"Recent conflicts?" Magarai wonders.
"Thanks to the will of the Great Dragon King, we are willing to accept even anyone willing to serve the king." expressed the dragon.
Alexandra approaches the place upon hearing that, it was an opportunity for her "Did they tell anyone?" asks the human, some dragons laugh when they see how the naive creature believed that she was going to serve the kingdom of Morkhex.
"Daughter."
"You are the famous daughter of Magarai, the human raised by a Greater Dragon," says a purple dragon captain of the winged race and a friendly look.
"Do you know me?" she asks surprised.
"Of course, Magaria is a Greater Dragon, a title that is only granted in my kingdom; thanks to that when Magarai asked to retire for a time to live a life as a villager, she explained to us why she was raising a human girl as her daughter" she explains she gently with a smile.
"Wow, I didn't know they knew me in Morkhex," she feels a bit ashamed, the human "I would like to join you in protecting Morkhex.
"Shut up stupid human!" A dragon pushes her away "Morkhex is a very important kingdom and you can't do anything to ..." the dragon is surprised by the cheerful purple dragon. The dragon vomits in pain due to a strong blow from the winged female.
"In times of need, any good soul that wants to protect Morkhex will be welcomed," she says still smiling, then knocks the dragon down with a loud tail drawing blood on his face and leaving him on the ground "we will not reject someone who wants to give his life to defend the kingdom and much less the daughter of a Greater dragon ".
Everyone is surprised and silent when they see how the dragon captain had hurt another dragon in defense of a human, they expected this type of act from Magarai for being the mother of the girl, but from a great captain with an impeccable reputation not.
"My name is Meneriam, and as you will see we will need all the help that is possible" expresses the dragon.
"I am Alexandra, and I would like to do everything possible to help and serve", clarifies Alexandra already prepared.
"Daughter wait." Magarai stands one step away from Captain Meneiam "If the situation is bad enough to ask for help from any non-guild warrior, then the Greater Dragon of the different kingdoms should better intervene" Magarai expresses seriously.
"I am very sorry my Major Magarai," The dragon bows in apology "I have ordered from the king and if your daughter wants to participate in combat, I must accept it. Likewise, the Elder Dragon is free to participate, but after to finish an even more important mission than this. "
"What could be more important than defending the kingdom of kings and nobles?" the dragon wonders intrigued.
"Confirmation of the presence of Captain Rellix" All the dragons are frightened when they hear that terrible name.
"No her, it can't be true," she says, unable to believe the news.
"Yes my Major Magarai, Rellix has been seen near Fronto Proz and the Major Dragon are required there as soon as possible." She observes the human "However you come with me along with the other guilds for this mission, we are counting on you to help the dragons" she says taking the human's hands and welcoming her.
Alexandra smiles when feeling welcomed by a dragon of important position "Of course, I will give my life if necessary to help my kingdom."
"Of course not Alexandra, you stay in Sahirum !!" the dragon drives her daughter away with her tail from the captain trying to prevent her daughter from getting into danger, Magarai begins to notice the perception of dragons around her.
"Magarai denies a will of the king of hers."
"That's not Magarai is it?"
"She doesn't look like the same Senior Dragon we know."
"I mean," Magarai manages to regain her composure. "Alexandra is still a level three warrior, just a little short of level four. A mission like this is for more advanced warriors." She justifies her actions with this explanation, hoping to silence the comments.
"Certainly, the most advanced warriors of any place is a priority. However, she is your daughter, and special permission is given to the children of the Greater Dragon of the seven allied kingdoms." She clarifies showing special permission from the king.
Alexandra reviews the signed permission slip with the same royal seal that she had seen on her mother's documents. This only confirmed the authenticity of the decree, even so, Magarai after almost losing Alexandra began to manifest a need to overprotect her, she was beginning to regret her decision to make her a warrior. She sees her daughter excited again reading the paper with a fire in her eyes wishing she was a great and important warrior in that mission.
"Of course if you feel that this mission is more than your little daughter can bear, we can always reject it with your due permission my Greater Dragon. We will be until the next morning recruiting and preparing the entrants, discuss it you two and look for me at the entrance of Shairum in the morning" The captain says goodbye and together with the recruiters they begin to move throughout Shairum looking for new warriors for the mission.
Alexandra sees her mother worried that she would stop her from being able to join this important call for the dragon warriors, that oceanic dragon was supposed to have trained her since she was eight years old at this time and now it seems that not even her mother wants to support her.
"You know, maybe it's a good idea to use worthless cannon fodder for our boys to survive, it's a good idea," said an earth dragon hoping to get rid of the human.
"Yes but she is just a simple little human, we would need one human per dragon." add an oceanic female.
Those and several other comments only brought out Magarai's anger, she was aware that her daughter was not a dragon, but still, she loved her and it did not seem fair to her that they want to kill someone important and close to her just for not being a dragon-like the rest.
"Very brave when you say that, the human risks her life so that you can be safe and secure, just to say cruel things" Kaipo appears from the public in defense of the human.
"Kaipo shut up" a guildmate of the terrestrial dragon tries to make his partner keep silent, only that the dragon no longer thought to be quiet anymore, he could no longer bear the lack of respect towards his best friend.
"She knows that everyone hates her and she does not doubt that in their eyes she has no value, even so, she is here wanting to join together to protect not only the kingdom of Morkhex, but also all the kingdoms without expecting anything in exchange for you, plus the opportunity to feel part of a brotherhood between dragons. " the dragon looks at everyone with contempt and revulsion "It makes me sick that you say things like waiting for her death without any purpose whatsoever except for your selfish desires, if your lives were in her hand I hope Alexandra does not make the mistake of showing mercy to no one." The dragon is knocked down from behind by his captain.
"Kaipo !!" Alexandra runs to help her friend.
"This will be the only time you will be allowed to spout nonsense Kaipo, now come, we must go to prepare things to leave" the leader leaves together with fellow guilds.
"Thank you very much for defending me Kaipo" She dusted him off a bit while helping him to his feet.
"Don't thank me, that's what friends are for, although I haven't been very good to you lately" he says feeling guilty.
"Are you kidding friend? You're the best a human girl could ask for, no one else would have defended me as you did recently." the human clarifies, taking the dragon's hands in gratitude. "You are a good friend Kaipo and I value our friendship like gold."
He smiles at the words of his friend.
"Well I have to go, I hope to see you and fight side by side with you friend"
The dragon leaves and gives the dragons around him an evil eye.
Magarai and Alexandra returned to their home to discuss the issue of recruitment a bit, the female dragon was very worried about her daughter, despite a year having passed, the dragon had not overcome that feeling of fear and uncertainty that she felt when she did not know of her daughter's health when she believed she had disappeared in action. She wanted to make her strong so that she would not be in danger, however, she was aware that this path was difficult and that she would not always be there for her daughter, she prepared her for the world, but Magarai had not prepared to let her go at all.
Her daughter wanted to be valuable to the dragons, she wanted to be strong like her mother and she wanted to feel like she fit into a place at last and this was her chance, but she wanted her mother's support for it. Although she was old enough to make her decisions in this kingdom of dragons, she trusted the will of her mother and respected her as if it were destiny itself who spoke to her, she only asked that her mother allow her to join this recruitment. They spoke all night without fear of expressing the concerns and desires they felt, but Alexandra showed her that she was determined to fight and return alive from her mission even if heaven itself was against her, she only wanted her mother to believe in her. In an act of faith and love, Magarai gave her the talisman of Greater Dragon and it was hidden in her daughter's armor, this was an act of trust and that she would go with her daughter to protect her from her even if it was in the spirit; the next morning Alexandra and several dragons went to a planning camp between Morkhex and Ssusilliam. There she would take the proper preparation for the terrible fight that was coming for them.
