Characters’ Bio as of end of Act I
Characters appearing in Sylia, the Dark and Light Saint novel.
Main Characters
Sylia
Sylia is the main character of the novel. She lives in the Slums of Irdalenvi Province, in the Nagasmar Kingdom, as part of the Krevoski family, though she is not truly one of them. She shares her body with the Soul of Masha, a fact that has caused her to regress in age multiple times. Though referred to by others as a Saint, Sylia never took that title herself; her role is more complex — she is an Avatar of over a hundred Gods and Goddesses and a Dragon Knight of the All Saints, tasked with protecting Saints and Saint Candidates like Masha. She is betrayed and sold out by her adoptive family at the beginning of the novel.
Sylia holds immense magical and divine power. She commands Divisions of herself (including Syl Celia and Cesylia) and exacts punishment on those who attempted to control or destroy her. She controls parts of the Slums and several City's districts, maintains order, and serves as both protector and enforcer in a collapsing system. Her actions throughout the story are calculated, strategic, and often merciless, particularly toward those who wronged her.
—
Syl Celia
Independent Division of Saint Sylia. Lives in the Slums most of the time. Is known as a Sainted Prietress.
—
Cesylia
Semi-independent Division of Saint Sylia. Also known as a Saint in the City. Very popular with men particularly with soldiers because of her beauty and Magical Potions. Is staying most of the time near the docks.
Main Antagonists
Masha
Masha is a Soul placed inside Sylia's body. She was originally found as a baby by Grenek and Grenar Krevoski in the Grayn Mountains, cradled in her dying mother's arms. Her body decayed rapidly, and through magical intervention (involving shadowy beings and the Queen of the Nights), her Soul was transferred into another child — Sylia. Masha has failed repeatedly to mature or fulfill her expected role. Though some of Sylia's Goddesses once favored her as a Saint Candidate, she is not a Saint and has been demoted or dismissed multiple times in the story. Her repeated regressions have forced Sylia's body to shrink and reset, blocking Sylia's own progression. Masha is resented by Sylia and is seen as a burden and symbol of divine injustice. She has allies, including Juvel Greesham and some in the Church, who seek her return or restoration.
—
Grenar Krevoski
Adoptive father of Masha. The man is highly corrupted and deranged. He hates with passion Sylia, considering her no better than a monster or a parasite.
Grenar Krevoski spent most his life within the disgraced Krevoski line in the slums of Erlankor. After years as a frontier soldier, he accepted a dawn-to-dusk post as City Gate guard. Over seventeen years ago, on a frost-bitten patrol in the Grayn Mountains, he and his son Grenek discovered a dying woman and her infant; Grenar vowed to raise that child—Masha, later known as Sylia—sealing his promise in a Pact. Married to Tasha Bimal and father to several biological children, he is desperate to save Masha's Soul and betrayed Sylia at every turn even selling her into Church servitude through alliances and manipulations.
A choice that he is still conflicted about as he lost his veteran soldier position and now scrapes by on low night-guard wages and polluted-spring fish.
—
Grenek Krevoski-Sigmund
Son of Grenar and former lover of Saint Sylia. Involved in the latest scheme against Sylia.
—
Tasha Bimal
Wife of Grenar Krevoski. Originally married to Dyren Krevoski (Grenar's son), she later became Grenar's second wife to cloak dark family secrets—an arrangement that sheltered her kin when "something terrible" transpired in those early years.
Originally born Malyna of the disgraced Bimal–Glishmal line, Tasha rose through ruthless ambition. She sold her own friends and relatives to Nobles to curry favor from them.
Under the influence of a Fallen Celestial who was now living as a Noble by the name of Frieze, she not only sold her own relatives to a terrible fate but she also murdered many and even scavenged their flesh to feed her Mana hunger. She was later betrayed by Frieze who offered her as scapegoat to cover his own crimes.
After her death, her shattered Soul was pieced back together by a Spiritus, and she was reborn as "Tasha"—but her heart remained cold and evil.
Now a mediocre seamstress, she barely scrapes by stitching coarse garments for Gentry clients.
She was deeply involved in Grenar's scheme and delighted in Sylia's enslavement, seeing it as both a reduction of burdens and a triumph over the girl whose very existence she despised. Envious of Sylia's divine gifts and ever-watchful for any opportunity to advance her own children and torment the weak and innocent, Tasha is always scheming, displaying a high level of cunningness and evilness.

Involved in Rozen's Arc
Josias
A Fire Knight created by Master Mathias Herves. He once courted Rozen, likely because of Mana compatibility and the power of her bloodline. Rozen did not reciprocate his feelings and now suspects his interest has since shifted to her half-sister, Seyka. She believes he never truly loved her and views him as naive. She does not hold anger toward him but sees his path for love as ultimately painful since her sister will likely never return his affection.
—
Edouard Kyenzemel
Rozen's first intended husband and heir to a Duke-class family. He is eighteen years old in religious years and Duke-class like his father. His mother is an Over-Viscountess class from a prestigious Marquess family. The engagement of Rozen and Edouard was formally registered and celebrated when Rozen was fourteen.
The future marriage of Rozen was arranged, largely to satisfy the ambitions of Marquess Kalteris, the Head of father's maternal Noble House. Though Edouard showed some affection toward Rozen, he eventually developed feelings for her father's former stepdaughter, Rakaelle. Rozen discovered this before he did. He later confessed his love for Rakaelle and offered Rozen the First Wife position, but she rejected it, stating that only his true love should claim that role.
—
Rakaelle
The former stepdaughter of Tamren. She is the illegitimate daughter of a Count and a woman from the lower Gentry. Edouard fell in love with her, and they are Mana compatible. Despite his feelings, she is not publicly acknowledged as his partner and would be given a lower status in marriage unless her future children are proven powerful. Rozen holds no resentment toward her.
—
Sernesto Sefraz
Rozen's third intended. He was created by a Spirit Guardian of the Sefraz family and is over Duke-class making him the most powerful one in his family which he is not close to. Sernesto is proud and cheerful. The 17 years old young man is fond of Rozen who most of the times ignores him. His relatives are more skeptical about their future marriage. His older brother Teryon Sefraz questions the match due to his own relationship with Sylia.
