Surviving These Unfair Scenarios [LITRPG - DIMENSION HOPPING]

Extra Chapter 13 - Movie Night: Adam, Kazue, and Chloe's side

Extra Chapter 13 - Movie Night: Adam, Kazue, and Chloe's side

Adam walked into Kazue's room and was immediately struck by the difference between her space and his own. His personal quarters were spartan and minimalist, containing only what was necessary for his survival and training—a closet with clothes, a connected bathroom, a single shelf with food supplies, a desk, a lamp, and several books. He had no bed since he no longer needed to sleep, while Kazue's room, however, was the complete opposite. It was a whirlwind of life and personality, and in sheer dimensions, it was noticeably much larger than Adam's, which made him think that the personal rooms the lobby gave them also adapted to what the user wanted.

The girl's room was a colorful explosion of organized chaos. The centerpiece was a ridiculously large bed that took up a significant portion of the space, a literal fortress with countless fluffy sheets and pillows of every imaginable color. They were all in a complete state of disarray, making it clear that Kazue did not seem very adept at making her bed after waking up. The walls were covered from floor to ceiling with a collage of posters showcasing fantastical worlds and vibrant characters from fictional series that Adam didn't recognize at all.

One depicted a sleek, futuristic mech in mid-flight, another a sprawling fantasy landscape with dragons soaring over snow-capped mountains, and a third showed a group of magically-inclined teenagers standing ready for battle... These colorful images served as a vibrant reminder of the many shows she loved. There was a closed door on one side that led to a bathroom, and a large number of clothes of various types were strewn across the floor and over the bed. In addition, there was a large table where a huge television screen was attached to a laptop and a media player. This high-tech setup was surrounded by a literal sea of crumbs from various snacks, creating a very uncomfortable sight, yet there was not a single wrapper to be seen.

"I don't have any chairs."

Kazue said with a bright smile, gesturing to the floor.

"So we'll have to sit on the edge of the bed! It's super comfy."

Adam, however, was not that excited with the idea; he raised an eyebrow, and a small, exasperated expression formed on his lips.

"It wouldn't hurt to have the place a little more organized."

He said, but Kazue only laughed at his words.

"You might be right, but I'll consider it in the future, now that I know I'll have visitors. But honestly, I'm more comfortable this way. It's not like the place is dirty. I make sure to throw out all the wrappers as soon as I'm done eating!"

Adam responded by walking over to the table and blowing on the surface with a strong gust of air, sending a considerable amount of crumbs and dust into the air. He then looked back at Kazue and gave her an inquisitive look, raising his eyebrow once more.

"Okay, fine! Maybe I've neglected the cleaning a little, but nobody ever died from a little mess!"

The girl giggled nervously.

"Perhaps…"

Adam said with a sigh.

"But I have no intention of starting the series until this place is at least clean and tidy."

He said firmly, but this was not at all funny to Kazue, who complained quite a bit.

"But Adam! It will take hours! I don't want to clean it all by myself!"

She whined, pouting. However, by the time she finished, Adam had already taken off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves.

"What are you talking about?"

He said with a determined glint in his eyes, as if what he was saying was common sense.

"If we both clean it together, it will only take a couple of minutes."

This took Kazue by surprise, as she had never imagined that Adam meant they would clean it together. She blushed a little and said.

"Okay... I guess if we both do it, we'll finish quickly."

They began the arduous task of cleaning the room and making the bed, and it was a study in contrasts. Adam was a whirlwind of efficiency, as his movements were precise and methodical. He folded clothes into neat, perfect piles, wiped down surfaces with a practiced ease that came from years of being self-sufficient, and organized the scattered magazines on the floor. Kazue, on the other hand, was clumsy and awkward, stumbling over stray clothes and struggling to get the sheets to lie flat on the bed. She would pick up a shirt and then get distracted by a detail on it, completely forgetting her task.

At one point, as Adam went to lift a particularly large and fluffy blanket to fold it, he noticed something underneath it. Kazue, who had just been trying to smooth out a wrinkle on the bed, let out a small, panicked shriek.

"Wait, no! Don't look under there!"

She yelled, her eyes wide with fear and her cheeks flushing a deep red. She lunged forward with a speed that surprised him, diving to the floor to scoop up a couple of her used garments before Adam's eyes could even fully register what they were. She then shoved them into a laundry basket with a finality that made it clear the topic was closed. The boy simply watched her, his own mouth slightly agape, before a low chuckle escaped his lips.

After a while of non-stop cleaning, Adam sighed and said.

"I'm sorry, it's not my place to tell others how to live their lives, but I'm just used to order. And I know how much it means to you that I watch this series, so for that to happen, it's better to do it in an environment that allows me to focus completely on the show."

Upon hearing this, Kazue's frown disappeared, replaced by a radiant smile. A blush spread across her cheeks, but it was not the same one she had felt with Moyan in the Trade Nexus. This one was a warmth that truly settled in her chest, the same she had felt when Katya had openly accepted they were best friends. She liked that someone else cared about her passions and respected her tastes; it was something she had regrettably never felt before… Real friendship.

Upon finishing the cleanup, with a look of satisfaction at what they had accomplished, Kazue said.

"It's time to start watching!"

"Agreed."

Adam said with a nod. They both sat on the edge of the now clean and made bed, and Kazue started up the laptop connected to the television, placing a CD into the player. As she did so, she looked at Adam.

"Can you believe it? There's no way to connect to the internet here. At first, I thought I could buy a laptop and get access, but it's not possible. I even searched the store and tried using the 'Idea Forge' for a skill that would let me connect, but it seems the system just won't let you."

Adam nodded, agreeing with her statement. It made perfect sense, after all, having access to the internet meant being able to communicate with the real world, and it was highly improbable that the system would ever allow something like that normally.

Finally, with everything in its place, Kazue put on the first episode and, with a satisfied smile, turned to a shelf and a mini-refrigerator she had on the side of her bed.

"Now for the important part!"

She announced cheerfully. She then pulled out a staggering number of snack bags and sweet drinks, balancing them all precariously in her arms.

"I have enough for the whole day if we need it, and for every taste you could possibly want!"

She said proudly. It was a literal mountain of food, an absurd amount for just the two of them.

"Whoa, Kazue, that's a lot."

Adam said, his eyes widening. He quickly stood up to help her, but in their shared haste, they ended up moving at the same time and accidentally collided with a soft thud. All the carefully stacked snacks and drinks went flying, bags of chips bursting open and sweet sodas fizzing everywhere in a comically chaotic scene.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Kazue's closed door, Chloe was there with her ear pressed against it, trying to hear what was happening inside. She had been there for several minutes, but she hadn't heard anything strange, just scattered words here and there, so she didn't know what they were doing inside, but it couldn't just be talking, right? No one would close their room if that was all they intended to do… But a moment later, she heard two shouts, from both Kazue and Adam. She strained her ears as much as she could and began to hear scattered words that only made her misunderstanding worse.

A sudden crash echoed through the door, followed by a soft "Oh no!" from Kazue.

"It spilled on my face! It's all over the place now!"

Kazue's voice exclaimed, filled with panic.

"Just relax! I'll help you get it all!"

Adam's voice rang out, sounding both calm and authoritative.

"But there is so much and it's kind of bitter! I'm losing my grip!"

She whined.

"It's fine, I'm right here."

Adam replied, his voice closer now.

"Just let me handle it from the bottom."

As the scattered words reached Chloe's ears, the girl's face grew redder and redder, and she became more and more horrified by the implications of what she thought was happening inside. After a while, the room went silent, and she thought she heard the creak of something, perhaps a piece of furniture or a… Bed? Chloe let out a scream and banged hard on the closed door, intending to burst in. The only problem was that… Well, the door wasn't actually closed; it never was.

Chloe had just assumed it was. The impact of her fist and the sudden lack of resistance caused the door to swing wide open, and she fell forward onto the floor in a graceless heap.

The scene must have been hilarious. Chloe, completely red with embarrassment, quickly got to her feet, pointing an accusatory finger at the two of them.

"You guys need to stop… doing… that…"

She yelled. But she couldn't finish her sentence. When she looked at them, she saw Adam and Kazue sitting on the now-clean bed, staring at her in surprise. In fact, Kazue was opening a can of soda, and Adam had a potato chip in his mouth.

An awkward silence descended upon the room until Adam calmly chewed his chip, swallowed, and asked.

"What's wrong, Chloe? Are you okay?"

He had initially thought it was an emergency, but he knew that if it were, Chloe wouldn't have acted that way. The pink-haired girl stammered, not knowing what to say, and wished the ground would swallow her whole. However, after a moment, Kazue leaped to her feet with a bright-eyed look and a wide smile.

"Oh, I know what happened!"

Kazue said, and Chloe stammered.

"Y-You do?"

Thinking she had been discovered and dying of embarrassment.

"Yes! You heard me mention watching a series with Adam and wanted to join us too!"

Kazue said, with a genuine and innocent smile on her face. Immediately, Chloe jumped on the explanation, laughing nervously.

"Y-Yes! That's exactly it! … I wanted to relax and watch a show with my friends! Haha…"

Kazue was totally delighted and guided Chloe to sit down next to them, with Adam in the middle. She offered her snacks and drinks, which the girl accepted gratefully, hoping to calm her rapidly beating heart. Finally, after eating another chip, Adam turned to Chloe.

"It would have been easier if you had just told us you wanted to watch the show with us."

The girl looked down, about to apologize, but then Adam smiled slightly at her.

"But even so, I'm glad you're here with us to share this moment."

This made Chloe blush even more, and she nearly spilled her drink. At last, the series began, and the three of them started what would be an eight-hour marathon of one of Kazue's favorite shows.
