Chapter 246 - Total War Final Part
The colossal, apocalyptic exchange between the Archdevil and the titan robot created a destructive symphony that ripped the very fabric of the landscape. Yet, while the echoes of these divine-tier blows dominated the air, another desperate series of events unfolded upon the shattered ground, where the surviving members of Team Abyss struggled simply to exist.
The sheer difficulty for alter Katya to maintain her footing and concentration was compounded by the constant, violent tremors, which sent massive plates of rock and earth flying with every step the giants took, and by the presence of both armies, one driven into a mindless frenzy, and the other with their internal systems fried by the passive Archdevil aura. Even both Charles and alter Kazue found themselves having an incredibly complicated time navigating the environment, where the unpredictable behavior of their own allies was now as dangerous as their enemies.
They had both managed to recover from the brutal blows they had suffered earlier at the hands of the Eternity robot and Mecha Sung Ja-In, and since then, they had been forced to defend themselves against the uncontrolled assaults of several RedBrood monsters, while destroying a handful of malfunctioning Automaton Legion robots along the way.
But it was abundantly clear that the most difficult task was simply staying safe from the vast residual damage being generated by the cataclysmic battle between alter Adam and Sebastian's mechanized terror.
When Alter Adam had briefly taken to the air to unleash the terrifying barrage of Devilish Energy against the 'Sea Knight', this fleeting moment of positional change had finally allowed the three active members of Team Abyss to converge, huddled together amidst the ruins. Alter Kazue appeared the most visually disturbed of the three, her expression a mask of panic as she shouted into the swirling, chaotic air that felt like hot knives against her skin.
"Everything unfolding is an absolute madness!"
She yelled, her voice strained by the immense wind.
"Are they intending to utterly obliterate the entire scenario?!"
Alter Kazue demanded an answer from her allies, her eyes wide with fear and disbelief.
"Calm yourself, newbie! This is hardly the most dangerous situation we have had to face as members of Team Abyss,"
Alter Katya spoke, her voice strained by the immense background noise, although she paused, looking up at the sky where the battle was now marked by the sudden appearance of the golden robot.
"It is true, however, that the more this escalates, the more difficult it will become for our leader, since his body should not be in any condition to withstand the power he is wielding right now..."
Charles felt a sharp stab of curiosity pierce through his combat fatigue, remembering the conversation they had had earlier, and even though he was aware of the limitations of the [Seal of Eternal Submission], which contained the Archdevil's true form, he wondered if alter Adam's body had ever been pushed to the absolute breaking point.
"We know of the seal, of course, but tell me, has there ever been a time when he had to use a full release during a previous confrontation?"
Charles asked, his mind already formulating theories.
"Yes, he has, in fact, done so during the war against Team Eden."
Alter Katya affirmed with a slow, heavy nod, her eyes reflecting the crimson glow overhead.
"That's why I'm completely sure that if he were to attempt that catastrophic maneuver now, his body would never survive the shock; so all we can do is pray that our leader has everything under control and be ready to provide him with any possible help should the need arise."
Alter Kazue could not believe the words she was hearing, looking at the two members of the team with wide, incredulous eyes.
"I do not understand how you could even conceive of the idea of us assisting in a battle of such magnitude!"
Alter Katya instantly turned her head, fixing her eyes directly upon the confused girl, and in that intense gaze, alter Kazue saw not malice or fury, but a look brimming with relentless, unbreakable determination, a feeling utterly foreign to her own previous experiences.
"We have always had to fight against monsters far more powerful than ourselves, and we have never lowered our gaze in surrender, for there will always be a path forward that can change the tides, especially when our leader is with us, willing to shoulder the burdens of our team… And our mistakes."
The blonde concluded the forceful statement, her voice imbued with a sense of unwavering loyalty that left no room for doubt or argument, finishing her counsel with a fierce snarl.
"Welcome to Team Abyss."
In the air, the terrifying spectacle of Mecha Sung Ja-In's golden, explosive counterattack, which sent the monstrous body of Alter Adam hurtling back to the ground, created an outward-rushing shockwave so unbelievably strong that alter Kazue, alter Katya, and Charles had to brace themselves with every ounce of their power to avoid being violently swept away.
But the sudden rush made alter Kazue lose her balance for just a moment, enough to be on the verge of being launched into the sky; however, Charles managed to grasp her arm at the last possible moment, plunging his sword deep into the shattered ground, using it as an anchor so that both could withstand the crushing wind.
"I thought you were unaffected by all elements, why does the wind seem to affect you so intensely?!"
The boy exclaimed, his voice tight with the effort of holding their combined weight against the gale; however, alter Kazue seemed instantly irritated by the question.
"That protection only works with forces of nature and basic elemental manipulation, you absolute idiot, not with something as crude as a residual wind blast generated by a shockwave!"
She snapped back, visibly annoyed by the implication of her weakness, or perhaps the perceived ignorance of her skill's limitations.
Once the crushing wind had finally subsided, Charles was about to retort; however, alter Katya suddenly spoke, her voice now urgently laced with a sharp, undeniable fear as she witnessed the rapid, terrifying acceleration of the battle.
"Shut up, both of you!"
She commanded, her tone strained with urgency. She then cursed under her breath, a low, savage word, while her eyes were fixed on the collapsing body of their leader into the ground.
"We need to provide immediate support to our Leader! Now!"
And with that final command, she instantly sprinted forward toward the colossal figures, followed instantly by Charles, who drew his sword and adopted a determined posture. They left alter Kazue, momentarily confused in the dust. The newest member of the team hesitated for a brief moment, her mind reeling from the impossible demands of her new comrades, but she quickly clenched her fists and advanced as well.
Returning to the main, devastating battle, once alter Adam had been violently repelled by the golden robot, Falk wasted no time and began to execute one extreme gambit. The immense pistons and powerful atomic generators of the Battlerizer Suit began to function at maximum potency, generating an enormous quantity of raw electrical energy that was instantly condensed into a potent, physical magnetic wave, which expanded across almost the entire warzone.
Falk had been able to hear the terrified, failing voices of all the machines present on the battlefield, and he knew precisely what he had to do with their remaining power. He closed his eyes, his expression contorted into an intensely bitter grimace of sacrifice, saying in a low, determined voice.
"Your sacrifices will not be in vain."
Using these great and potent magnetic waves, Falk violently attracted all the immobilized robots of the Automaton Legion from the entire field, drawing them toward him like iron shavings to a magnet. He grouped them into enormous streams that floated around himself and the gigantic 'Sea Knight', forming massive, ethereal rings reminiscent of a planet's halo. Without losing another precious second, he raised his massive mechanical arms forward as if giving a final, desperate signal, and all the robotic units shot instantly toward the monstrous body of alter Adam, expelled by a focused electromagnetic impulse that converted the entire Automaton Legion into literal, high-velocity projectiles.
The sheer quantity of the mechanical force was insane, so great that had they been in the open sky, they would have completely obscured the sun.
They all moved with the singular, crushing intention of impacting the Archdevil, who frowned, his tremendous brow furrowing in irritation and surprise at the audacity of the maneuver, preparing to withstand the mechanical onslaught with his arms crossed over his chest. However, before the metal projectiles could completely reach him, alter Katya made a surprisingly fast and powerful leap, interposing herself between the demonic colossus and the metallic barrage, appearing no bigger than a struggling ant between two monolithic buildings.
She did not remain static but immediately raised her arms to the sky, and from the air itself, a vast quantity of purple, thick tentacles manifested instantly in front of her. These living appendages intertwined completely, forming a gigantic, biological, pulsating barrier of muscle between the Archdevil and the incoming robotic projectiles.
The desperate defense worked completely. The thousands of robots slammed against the massive, living wall of tentacles and exploded in violent, consecutive detonations, making the ground beneath tremble from the accumulated force of the explosions, but the pulsating, living wall appeared to be resisting the onslaught perfectly. This moment of stability did not last long, however. In a fraction of an instant, an enormous, ragged hole was created in the center of the tentacle wall, bursting from the outside as if something had violently punched its way through the dense structure purely through brute force and impossible velocity.

When alter Katya tried to react to the impossible breach, the body of Mecha Sung Ja-In, still enveloped in that blinding golden aura of borrowed divinity, advanced at full, impossible speed toward her, delivering a powerful, focused punch directly to her face... Some strange, reflexive defense mechanism of the girl activated instantly, and part of her face transformed into gaping, bestial jaws lined with razor-sharp teeth, which savagely attempted to bite the robot's golden fist. However, the action was utterly meaningless; the teeth shattered upon contact, and the girl was sent flying with incredible violence by the impact, emitting a high-pitched, agonizing scream of pain and shock as she was launched into the distance.
With that first, minor inconvenience summarily dealt with, Mecha Sung Ja-In advanced again, this time aiming directly at alter Adam, fully intending to deliver another decisive blow. The robot instantly began to spin rapidly upon his horizontal axis, transforming himself into a literal, massive drill of pure Divine Ki that began to grow terrifyingly in intensity and volume as he closed the distance.
But again, before the golden automaton could impact its target, another person interposed themselves. This time, it was Charles, who had generated powerful devil wings on his back and had also leaped to intercept the robot. The boy wielded his katana, imbued with infernal fire, forming a massive 'X' of concentrated flames that floated impossibly in front of him.
"Infernal Rebuke!"
Charles screamed the name of the skill, and the terrifying energy drill that was Mecha Sung Ja-In's body impacted the precise center of the fiery figure, which began to spin violently upon contact, attempting to repel the unstoppable attack with sheer rotational force.
However, just as had happened with alter Katya, the skill used, though powerful, lacked the necessary energy to halt the divinely augmented robot. The 'X' of fire disintegrated rapidly, and the drill impacted Charles's body directly. Even then, the boy used his entire body and his arms, which were now screaming in agonizing pain, to try and stop the forward advance of Mecha Sung Ja-In, succeeding partially but receiving the full, devastating impact himself, which produced an extremely deep, life-threatening wound across his chest before he finally ceded to the superior power and was also pushed down with immense power by the drill's sheer centrifugal force.
However, this sacrifice had not been entirely in vain... The precious time gained had been sufficient for the enormous body of alter Adam to finally react. The moment Mecha Sung Ja-In was free of Charles's desperate grapple, he was received by a potent counter-blow from the Archdevil's demonic hand, a strike that managed to repel the golden robot.
Alter Adam roared loudly, the sound a mixture of pure malice and furious protectiveness.
"HOW DARE YOU?!"
The Archdevil bellowed, absolutely boiling with fury at having witnessed his two companions being thrown aside so ruthlessly. He wasted no time and began to accumulate a vast quantity of Devilish Energy in his monstrous mouth, preparing to launch a potent torrent of that infernal power, taking advantage of the critical distance he had just gained.
At his colossal feet, standing in the midst of this unimaginable chaos, was alter Kazue, who watched with profound incredulity as the two Team Abyss members had leaped without hesitation to try and aid the one they called their leader. Why would they commit such utter foolishness? She did not know if she would be capable of doing such a thing for anyone from her former team, finding the action alien yet compelling.
Even so, her confused introspection was violently interrupted by the growing charge of alter Adam's energy and his furious words. Alter Kazue simply muttered, her voice laced with reluctant resignation.
"Fuck, okay!"
She then instantly utilized her most powerful skill, which was, ironically, a support skill called [Hymn of the Elements], amplified by her Personal Skill. This unique ability accumulated the raw power of nature and the elements themselves, focusing the energy into a single person for a single, focused attack, a poorly versatile but incredibly potent skill.
As alter Adam charged his attack, large particles of various colors, resembling shimmering rainbows and compressed starlight, began to swirl around him, enveloping the monstrous figure and fusing with him and the Devilish Energy condensing in his jaws. The Archdevil finished his charge with a final, booming cry, one of fierce anger due to the beings who had just tried to sacrifice themselves for him.
"GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY TEAM!"
He shouted, simultaneously unleashing the immensely powerful, enhanced torrent of energy. The raw energy liberated was so vast that merely looking at it would have blinded a normal person, a blast so powerful that it could reduce any enemy robot to molten scrap metal upon the slightest contact… It was then that Mecha Sung Ja-In reacted, utilizing the energy of the [Seven Little Stars] within him to the absolute maximum he could muster, generating his own powerful counter-blast of pure Ki.
The two competing energies instantly collided with a deafening, reality-tearing roar, locking into a perfectly matched struggle where neither titan seemed willing to cede ground. However, there was one element in the fight that would not withstand the strain… And that was the physical body of Mecha Sung Ja-In.
His system had reached its failure limit long ago, and it was a mechanical miracle that he continued to function under such incredible strain. His body began to dramatically disassemble itself, piece by piece, disintegrating slowly and visibly even as he continued to maintain the Ki Blast at maximum power, a painful, drawn-out death for the sentient machine.
Both Sebastian and Falk were frozen in horror, unsure how to act or what could possibly be done, as the conflict far surpassed their individual capabilities. While the Battlerizer Suit was a Rank S item, its specialty was not dealing with titantic energy attacks of this magnitude.
However, after one agonizing instant of despair, both men clearly heard the voice of Mecha Sung Ja-In in their minds, a precise language and frequency that only those who could perceive the spirit of machines could truly understand. The voice of the [Seven Little Stars] joined in, and even the resonant hum of the WarWorld itself, all communicating a single, unified intention: a final attack and a strategy that left both Falk and Sebastian utterly speechless with its inherent sacrifice.
The old man protested immediately, his voice tight with desperation as he saw the terrible calculus of their final plan.
"I cannot possibly accept something like that!"
Sebastian exclaimed the refusal into his internal comms. However, the only response he received was a final, clear message from Mecha Sung Ja-In, delivered not in the high-frequency robotic spiritual language, but in actual words that resonated only inside Sebastian's head, a voice thick with final, devoted resolution.
"Do not worry... Thank you… father."
Immediately, the Ki Blast generated by Mecha Sung Ja-In sharply dropped its intensity, finally breaking the agonizing stalemate with the Archdevil's power, and was completely overwhelmed. The golden robot emitted a final, mechanical scream as its body was violently disintegrated by the rushing torrent of Devilish Energy.
"No!"
Sebastian screamed from the cockpit of his 'Sea Knight'. Yet, not all was lost. In the last second, Falk managed to fulfill his crucial part of the plan, utilizing his highly focused magnetics to attract both the [Seven Little Stars] and the [Interdimensional Containment Cube]—which contained the semi-divine energy of Lord Varek that served as Mecha Sung Ja-In's core—toward him.
The immense Devilish Energy torrent, having been partially diverted from its original trajectory by the robot's sacrifice, ended up passing wide of its intended target, exploding on the distant horizon and creating a vacuum effect so powerful that it began to absorb everything around it. Even the 'Sea Knight' itself was forced to violently plant its arms into the shattered ground, anchoring itself to prevent being dragged away by the residual suction blast.
In the midst of this swirling chaos, Falk proceeded immediately with the other half of the plan, shouting very loudly into his internal communicator.
"WarWorld, engage, max power!"
The object instantly heeded the urgent command, just as they had explained, teleporting Falk, along with the recovered [Seven Little Stars], in the same manner that the Automaton Legion robots had been transported to the battlefield. For a moment, it seemed that Falk had simply vanished into thin air, and when the chaotic suction effect of the enormous explosion finally ended, alter Adam instantly prepared to advance to deliver the killing blow to the 'Sea Knight', taking advantage of the fact that the enormous mech was still grounded and recovering.
He could not, however, take that first step… A volume of energy that was extremely large, far greater than anything he had felt during the entire combat and only comparable to the full, raw power of Gilgamesh himself, erupted into the sky.
Alter Adam raised his gaze, and then he saw it: one of the two moons hanging overhead suddenly emitted seven powerful, luminous glows and began to move... But upon closer inspection, it was immediately clear that this was no moon.
The orbital station WarWorld, the largest, most impressive creation of Gilgamesh and the only creation that could only utilize basic functions unless combined with the immense power of the [Seven Little Stars], was now fully operational, a massive artificial satellite in orbit that possessed, among its many abilities, a truly devastating skill.
Before alter Adam's astonished gaze, the "moon" began to generate an enormous cluster of raw, condensed green energy, visible even across the immense distance of space, and a System notification appeared in his periphery, alerting him to the terminal threat. The skill was named [Orbital Nuke Bombardment], and alter Kazue, still standing on the ground, also saw the impossible weapon charging overhead.
"You gotta be fucking kidding me!"
She exclaimed, her voice strained with absolute terror. Meanwhile, Sebastian, following the final instructions delivered by the robotic voices, slammed the ejection button, creating a small flying vehicle from the cockpit with which he shot out of the location as the 'Sea Knight' began to instantly disintegrate, returning its components to his inventory.
Alter Adam watched the escape, then looked back at the sky where the devastating ray was moments from charging, and finally looked down at the ground, assessing the state of his team: the unconscious body of Charles, the shocked alter Kazue, and to his surprise, alter Katya, who had returned despite limping and clearly having suffered an unknown number of broken bones. The Archdevil grit his teeth, the malice momentarily replaced by a cold rage.
"Katya, be ready!"
He screamed the order as he leaped forward at the very moment the WarWorld's beam finally fired toward the earth, descending as if it were a contained, miniature sun. Alter Adam positioned himself immediately in front of his allies, raised his arms, which were imbued with all the remaining Devilish Energy he could generate, and roared in challenge, receiving the full, devastating power of the cosmic blast, which instantly enveloped him completely.
However, through the immense light and fire of the impossible attack, and to the eyes of Adam, who remained in place, unmoving and totally immune to all external damage, a final, cryptic System window appeared in the scorched area, something that the boy could no longer even react to, given the sheer impossibility of the entire combat.
