Surviving marriage in yandere world

Chapter 197: Refusal & The Hackers of Fate

The marble tiles were cracked, blackened, and smeared with streaks of mascara-tears and dragon claw marks. A chandelier dangled upside-down like a drunk bat. The air smelled faintly of charred lace, rose perfume, and fresh nosebleed.

And at the center of it all—Rei, Duke's son, reincarnated salaryman, unwilling harem protagonist, professional victim of divine trolling—dragged himself up from the rubble. His knees wobbled. His lips were still swollen from the sixfold assault of "last kisses."

The glowing System box hovered above him like a smug neon guillotine.

[System Final Mission Reminder: Choose One Wife.]

[System Deadline: 22 Hours, 31 Minutes.]

[Warning: Indecision = World Collapse. Emotional Stability = Already Broken.]

Rei threw his arms to the ceiling and screamed. "I REFUSE!"

His voice cracked through the castle like thunder made of pure desperation. His chest heaved. His fists shook.

"I am NOT choosing one of you! Not today! Not tomorrow! Not EVER! You hear me, stupid blue box?! I'd rather let the world collapse than break their hearts!"

The air went silent. Even the cursed violin stopped mid-note, string snapping in sympathy.

[System Alert: Input not recognized.]

[System Error: User has attempted "Refusal."]

[System Diagnostic: ERROR ERROR ERROR—]

The glowing interface flickered violently, glitching like a broken slot machine. Letters scrambled. Emojis leaked into the text.

[Recalc—recalc— recalc— 010101010—]

Rei blinked at the box, then jabbed a trembling finger.

"Y-you see that? Even the damn System doesn't know how to process me! Hah! What now?! HACKED BY FREE WILL, YOU STUPID SPREADSHEET!"

The brides stared at him, slack-jawed. Their eyes shimmered with tears, confusion, and rising insanity.

Lucivella, Demon Queen Supreme, tilted her head. A smile bloomed slowly, serenely, terrifyingly. "Interesting… very interesting. The boy refuses. And the code falters."

Lilia—sweet, silver-haired seamstress turned obsessive manipulator—pushed her glasses up, eyes glittering with madness. "So the divine code itself can be… altered."

Rei froze. "Wait. Hold up. No one altered anything that was NOT permission!"

But it's too late. Lucivella and Lilia stepped forward together, their shadows stretching unnaturally across the cracked floor. One was a queen of darkness who had bent nations. The other was a tailor of destinies who stitched threads of obsession into every inch of cloth she touched.

Together, they looked like hackers of reality.

Lucivella's voice was smooth velvet dipped in arsenic. "If fate is written in code, then code can be rewritten."

Lilia's smile trembled with feverish devotion. "If the System demands your choice, then I will simply stitch a new line of code where you choose me—and me alone."

"WAIT, WHAT?!" Rei's eyes bulged.

The System box flickered again.

[Warning: Unauthorized Access Detected.]

[Threat Level: Maximum.]

[Deploying Anti-Cheat Protocols.]

Lines of glowing binary rained from the ceiling like divine chains, trying to bind the two women.

Lucivella merely raised her hand, catching the glowing script in her palm. The numbers hissed, burned, then melted into black ichor. She smirked. "Pathetic."

Lilia pulled out a needle of shimmering silver, threaded not with silk but with glowing strands stolen from the System's own letters. She pierced the code, stitching the numbers into new shapes.

"0101—NO," she muttered, sewing fast, eyes wild. "His heart belongs to ME. 1110—rewrite this variable. Override his refusal into eternal acceptance."

[System Screaming: ⚠️⚠️ Unauthorized Reprogramming Detected!!!]

[Deploying Firewall: Emotional Blackmail v2.0]

Suddenly, holographic projections of Rei's childhood flashed through the air. Tiny Rei playing tag with Seraphina. Rei sharing roasted chestnuts with Drakana. Rei holding Mira's hand when she cried. Every memory was displayed in glowing detail—each one a dagger of guilt.

Seraphina gasped, clutching her chest. "He… he smiled at me first…"

Drakana snarled, flames leaking from her nostrils. "No, he promised me under the storm!"

Mira sobbed openly. "H-he wiped my tears… that was real… wasn't it?"

Rosette's voice cracked for the first time. "…He thanked me once. I remember."

The hall filled with desperate cries as the firewall twisted their emotions into raw weapons.

Rei clutched his head. "STOP USING MY CHILDHOOD AGAINST ME!"

But Lucivella and Lilia pressed harder. Lucivella spread her arms wide, calling forth a circle of infernal runes. "I summon the Law of Possession: all that loves you belongs to me. All code is mine to command."

Lilia stabbed her needle deep into the glitching text. "And I stitch the Law of Binding: all loops end with my name. All outcomes return to me."

Rei fell to his knees. Sparks of blue and black fire crackled overhead as divine algorithms clashed with forbidden yandere rites. The System shrieked like a dying angel.

[System Overheat Detected.]

[CPU: 999% Usage.]

[Warning: Code Integrity Shattered.]

[Please stop hacking before reality collapses, thank you ♥.]

"YOU TWO ARE GOING TO BREAK THE UNIVERSE!" Rei screamed.

Lucivella glanced down, calm as ever. "And what of it? If reality must burn for your love, let it burn."

Lilia's trembling smile widened. "If the code crashes, we'll stitch a new one. A world where you can only ever be mine."

Rei's nose bled anew. His sanity slipped another three notches down the drain.

Meanwhile, the other brides finally snapped.

Seraphina raised her sword, voice trembling with both faith and fury. "I cannot allow this heresy! Rei must choose me through his own will!"

Drakana roared, wings spreading wide. "Then we burn the code together, and the strongest bond remains—mine!"

Mira, tears streaking her cheeks, held her staff tight. "P-please… don't erase my memories with him…"

Rosette vanished into the shadows, daggers gleaming. "…I'll kill the code. And anyone else."

The hall erupted into chaos as brides lunged—not only at each other, but at the very interface of the divine System.

Code rained like meteors. Runes ignited the walls. The cursed violin spontaneously exploded.

Rei collapsed onto his back, staring at the ceiling with dead eyes. "I'm… living through the world's first MMORPG hacking war. With yanderes. How is this my life?"

The System stuttered again.

[System Status: Core Breach 78%.]

[System Voice Distortion: plEasE… cEasE… uSeRs…]

[Final Mission: ❌❌ corrupted ❌❌]

Rei croaked, "Oh no… ohhh no. The system's dying. If it dies, the world dies."

But Lucivella and Lilia only smiled—queens and seamstresses of madness, united in their refusal to let go.

And Rei realized with horror… they weren't fighting to save the world. They were fighting to rewrite it.

Rei tried crawling away, but the marble floor betrayed him. Every time he dragged himself a few inches, a stray line of code fell from the ceiling and zapped his butt like divine static.

"YEEOW! I swear this castle hates me!"

The System, now sounding less like a divine decree and more like a Windows XP dying, croaked again.

[System Integrity… 61%… Error: Fragmentation Detected.]

[Please insert emotional stability disk to continue.]

Rei wheezed. "I—I don't even have a floppy drive!"

But his despair only fueled the madness of the brides.

Seraphina strode forward, wings of holy light blazing, her sword slicing the falling code like ribbons. "If the Demon Queen dares touch Rei's fate, then I shall be his firewall!"

Drakana snapped her claws, roaring flames. "Firewall? I AM THE FIRE!" She charged, literally breathing an inferno at Lucivella.

Lucivella waved her hand lazily; the flames curled, twisted, and turned into bouquets of black roses that rained over her shoulders. She smirked at Drakana like a teacher watching a toddler throw crayons.

"Try harder, lizard."

Drakana shrieked. "WHO YOU CALLING—LIZARD?!"

Meanwhile, Lilia had gone full lunatic coder. She crouched over the binary rain, eyes gleaming, stitching faster and faster. "Yes… yes… if I rewrite the kernel thread, Rei's entire existence points to ME! Done! HAHAHA—"

The System screamed.

[Kernel Panic: Bride Variable Overflow.]

[Rebooting in Safe Mode.]

Rei flopped back against a pillar, muttering, "Safe mode? What's that even mean in romance terms?!"

The answer came instantly: the glowing box flickered, then suddenly projected six miniature Rei holograms—each with a deadpan face—lined up like tech support agents.

The holograms spoke in unison.

[Hello, you appear to be experiencing emotional corruption. Would you like help with that?]

Mira clasped her hands together. "A-ah… mini Rei…" Her cheeks flushed, and she almost fainted. "Even the System believes he belongs to us…"

Rosette just growled. "…I'll stab the clones." She lunged, but the holograms fizzled away with a cheerful [Error 404: Husband Not Found].

"STOP MAKING BUGS OUT OF MY FACE!" Rei screamed, shaking his fist at the heavens.

The hall was devolving into a digital Armageddon. Half the chandeliers were now made of binary. The floor rippled like code trying to render carpet textures. At one point, a giant [Pop-up Ad: BUY WEDDING RINGS NOW!] tried to slam into Rei's face before Seraphina sliced it apart.

Lucivella's calm smile never wavered. "See, Rei? The world is already bending. Soon, all of existence will be rewritten to serve our love."

Lilia's voice rose in manic triumph. "Not OUR love. MINE. He belongs only to me. And if I must hack destiny itself, so be it!"

Rei groaned, dragging his hands down his face. "I'm trapped in a battle between a demon queen, a yandere seamstress, and a dying operating system. Just delete me already."

The System crackled one final warning.

[Warning: System Collapse Imminent. 42% Core Stability.]

Rei's scream echoed through the crumbling throne hall.

"I DON'T EVEN HAVE A KEYBOARD!!!"
