Survive the labyrinth with EX-grade traits

Chapter 111

Before claiming the rewards, there was something that had to be done first.

Out of the four excutives, only two were lucky enough to survive.

The Oxynos Clan had to be completely annihilated before everything would be over.

Although they had no intention of letting them live, they followed Martin’s instructions and thoroughly subdued them by tightly binding their hands and feet with spare ropes.

‘Why not just kill them right away? Do they have any information left to extract?’

Martin must have his reasons for keeping them alive for a while, I thought.

One of the men, who had an unusually strong desire to live, seemed to have misunderstood the situation when he wasn’t killed right away.

“Hah! Just kill me! I doesn’t deserve to live!”

“Please spare my life! I won’t say a word outside! I can’t die on the fourth floor!”

“You want to beg for your life from the people who killed your leader? Are you not ashamed to face him in death?”

“The living should live! What nonsense are you talking about? If you want to die, don’t drag me into it!”

One of them was spouting nonsense like “Hah! Just kill me!” as if he was a comic book hero, while the other was desperately fighting for his life, thinking that if he begged hard enough, he might be spared.

‘If you’re going to separate the living from the dead after the battle, why bother fighting so hard in the first place?’

What is this, a war? Are you growing flowers in your head or something? There’s no way you’d let one live while killing the others.

Regardless of Martin’s intentions, it was a waste of time to watch this any longer.

I grabbed my sword without any hesitation.

“Stop! You’re making too much noise! Both of you, shut up!”

Martin, who was in the middle of healing his internal injuries and had turned pale, shouted at them and glared at the one who wanted to live.

“Especially you. After illegally occupying the area, holding a demonstration of force, and even trying to kill someone, did you not prepare for the possibility of your own death?”

He clicked his tongue and turned to me.

“Ahren, you did well. Thanks to you, I survived.”

“No, it’s because everyone fought as one during the battle that we were able to survive. It wasn’t easy for me to even think about handling so many people by myself. Martin, you did well too.”

“Haha, thanks for saying that. That makes me feel good.”

Martin pointed behind me.

“The battle is over, so don’t bother getting more blood on your hands. Why don’t you gather Demern’s equipment and the rewards from the Golden Goblin in one place?”

After he killed the other two, he added that he would gather the equipment and possessions of the other corpses and settle the rewards.

Dietrich, who had been listening quietly, gestured towards the forest.

“I’ll go look for Mick. Sorry Marianne, but do have any sacred magic left? Maybe he’s not showing up because he’s severely injured and collapsed somewhere.”

“Of course. Unless it’s a minor injury, I might not be able to use sacred magic due to my low mana. I apologize.”

“No, there’s no need to apologize. Then, I’ll take the remaining potions and go look for him.”

Marianne offered the intermediate potions from her waist.

“I’m not injured, so use them if you find him. Here.”

“Thanks. That’s reassuring.”

Dietrich took the intermediate potions and headed into the nearby forest to look for Mick.

‘Time to start looting.’

I moved away from the soon to be dead executives, who were no longer of any concern to me.

The Weak Authority(the one that give sometime give traits from defeated oppents) hadn’t triggered on this trip to the Labyrinth yet, but luckily it activated as I defeated Gornet.

I tried to grab the corpse and the flickering light, even though I’ve been able to gain talents just by looking at it since Isaac.

But then

-Beep!

“What the hell? What happened?”

[The trait ‘Purple Lightning’ has increased in level due to the combat experience accumulated so far.]

────

[Purple Lightning] (B) [A]

The trait absorbed from the purple Kikero.

In order for humans to wield the destructive lightning of this mutated species, they must pay a price.

It can be grown through consistent use.

The user’s radical actions have increased the level of the trait.

-If the user does not have lightning resistance, they will receive lightning attribute damage and the stunned status effect whenever they use the trait.

-The user can concentrate and consume mana to use the technique ‘Thunderbolt’. A headache will occur after use, depending on the scale of the technique.

-The user can use the technique ‘Lightning Step’ once a day. The stacks reset at midnight.

-The user can concentrate and consume mana to use the technique ‘Lightning Sword’. The user will experience tremendous pain throughout their body after use.

────

Surprisingly, my first attack trait, Purple Lightning, has increased in level.

‘Damn. I’ve been waiting for months, and now it’s finally grown?

If I think about it, it’s probably because I used Thunderbolt as my main attack in this battle.

Of course, it’s also thanks to the accumulated proficiency from using it consistently since my first adventure.

There’s just one thing. The tremendous pain from the newly added item is a bit concerning, but for now, I’m just too happy to care.

What will come next, now that I’ve started?

[Chaos pouts and makes a ‘doo-doo-doo-doo’ sound effect with her lips.]

‘I can’t even hear it, though.’

[Chaos pouts and scolds me for not being able to hear it.]

Pfft. When she was older, she seemed more mature, but now that she’s younger, she keeps choosing cute things to do.

It’s fine. Cute is good enough.

Anyway, I placed my hand on the chest of the corpse, where the gray light was rippling.

[The power is activated.]

[The trait ‘Golden Crown’ has been absorbed.]

Golden Crown?

[The ability is activated.]

[The trait ‘Golden Crown’ is absorbed.]

Golden Crown (B) [P]

A trait absorbed from the Golden Goblin, Gornot.

The golden crown of dominance and wealth will make the user’s life more prosperous.

This trait is paired with the Crown of Mystery from the Kingdom of Gornot.

-Very rarely, it reflects all mental status effects regardless of grade.

-A positive modifier is added to all luck-related items possessed by the trait.

-It can use the skill ‘Golden Crown’ by consuming a large amount of life force, energy, and mana.

-When synthesized with ‘Golden Crown of Gornot’, the power hidden within the trait awakens.

________________________________________

Not only a trait has grown to become a B-grade, but now I gained a B-grade in itself!

I’ve hit the jackpot after a long time.

‘By the way, synthesis? The ‘Golden Crown of Gornot’ it’s probably the one the guy was wearing on his head.’

I’ve never heard of synthesizing traits with items.

Probably because I get this kind of trait for the first time, and it’s probably hidden because it’s high-level information.

Anyway, let’s look at the information about the other items later. There’s a mountain of things to move besides this.

“Mick! Where have you been and what have you been doing? Are you okay?”

As I was checking the trait and removing Demern’s equipment from the corpse, Martin’s shocked voice came from behind.

When I turned around, I saw Dietrich supporting Mick, who had long thrown away his mask and had bloodstains on his mouth.

“He was leaning against a nearby tree, dying.”

“Hehe. It’s embarrassing. The guy whose neck I broke turn out to be a close comrade, and two guys went mad and charged at me like they had something against me.”

Mick managed to kill two more after the initial attack, but he laughed sheepishly, saying he almost died from a stab wound.

Dietrich must have poured a potion in time, as he didn’t seem to be in critical condition.

“Phew… Thank goodness. I thought you were hiding somewhere alone. Good job, Mick.”

“Hey. I’ve been an adventurer for a while, so I have to do what I have to do! Should I take out the equipment and money pouches from the dead guys?”

“Just stay still, we’ll move. There’s no need to move the injured on top of the combat contribution.”

“Anyway, you could’ve just told me to rest because I’m in pain. You’re so stiff! I’ll lie here, so take your time!”

While Mick was resting, I, of course, along with Dietrich, Martin, and Marianne, who sighed and thanked God, continued to farm.

.

.

.

The farming is done.

The items dropped after Gornot’s death, the Golden Crown I had been wearing on his head, the six items in the black bag, and the numerous equipment and money pouches collected from the dead bodies.

We worked together to gather all the loot in the middle of the now-cleared clearing where the tree had been.

“As you all know, this battle would have been difficult to handle even against the Oxyonos Clan, let alone the Golden Goblin, if it weren’t for the temporary addition of our new companion.”

Dietrich nodded in agreement.

“I agree. After they took out an unidentified potion and consumed it, their movements seemed to change as if they had become different people.”

He gestured to the sword at his waist.

“Also, even though it’s a small clan, they were quite a headache when they started using various scrolls and consumables. Their financial power was indeed far superior to that of an ordinary party.”

“You’re right, Dietrich. To be honest, it’s easy to say because things went well, but it seems like deciding to engage in a full-scale battle based on the information about the special species and the Golden Goblin was a reckless decision that I learned on Earth.”

Martin apologized, looking into the eyes of each party member and bowing his head.

“I was blinded by greed and made a hasty judgment. This is my mistake, and there’s no excuse for it.”

‘What? They know that he is a transmigrator?’

He must have a strong bond as a party, given their level and trust in him.

Well, it would be stranger if a person who received a fraudulent trait couldn’t create a reliable party in two years of going in and out of the labyrinth.

‘But is it okay to reveal that he’s a transmigrator in front of me? So easily?’

In my case, I revealed the information-viewing trait to Jacob, who I wanted to recruit as a party member, after confirming his character and compatibility.

Other than my companions, who else knows that I’m a transmigrator? My master? Sena?

Anyway, it would look strange if I remained silent, so I should pretend to be surprised first.
