Chapter 147 - Holy Empire (1)
Chapter 147
Holy Empire (1)
With the Shadow Dragon, Redin traveled quickly to the mountain range where the Imperial laboratory was hidden.
As he entered the cave through the Power of Shadows, he heard Heather and Redis talking.
“I also don’t have the best memories of my childhood. I grew up being beaten by my father.”
“Why?”
“I came from a family of swordsmen, but I didn’t know how to wield a sword properly. So, I tried to learn magic, but I got kicked out of the house. Hahaha…”
“Magic is so convenient and useful.”
“Right.”
Judging by the fact that they talked about their past, the two of them must have become quite close. Best of all, Redis didn’t have any problems with her pronunciation or intonation.
The language problem was solved in such a short amount of time, probably because Heather kept talking to her and engaging her in conversation.
“Huh?”
Redis’s shrill voice was accompanied by a rush of heat.
Fireballs flying out of the cave.
Using Dragon Magic, Redin dispelled the fireballs and went inside. Redis was waiting for him, a pout on her lips.
“Redin!”
She ground her teeth, crossing her arms over her chest and wrinkling her nose.
“Y-You ditched me here and went off on your own because I was bothering you.”
“You’re not a bother.”
She needed to be educated.
“Then?”
“I got you a great teacher.”
He waved at Heather, who waved back in return while giving him an amused look.
“You’re here?”
“I got a call from Marek. He said you solved all the riddles.”
“Uh-huh.”
“That’s great.”
“No. I finished it quickly because I had Redis helping me with a lot of the parts I didn’t know. It would have taken me longer if it was just me.”
“That’s right. I helped.”
Redis’ mouth curled upward.
“Really? Well done.”
“So next time, take me with you! I’ll fight, too. You said you’d let me get my revenge, so keep your promise.”
“Okay. Let’s start exploring the lab first. Have you ever been inside?”
“I was going to go in with you when you returned.”
Heather stood up, grabbed a few notes, and started walking toward the clearing where the Imperial laboratory was located.
“Redis, can you help me?”
Redis nodded at Heather’s request.
*Ooooh!*
He could feel Heather resonating with the circle, feeding it with mana. He chanted a spell and used his magic.
*Ziiiiiing!*
The giant magic circle in the empty lot began to change. Shapes moved, letters disappeared and reappeared, and the ground began to tremble slightly as the changes took place.
As he watch Redis and Heather dismantle the magic circle, he organized his thoughts.
The Oberg Imperial Laboratory.
He’d never seen it in the game, and he didn’t know much about what was inside.
All Redin knew was that the Demon Church had blown up an entire kingdom using the research for a super-magic bomb here.
So he was somewhat curious.
“Redis, can you help me stabilize the mana?”
“Mmm.”
“From now on, you’re going to do what you promised the other day, okay?”
“Yes.”
With their magic, the magic circle began to disappear little by little. One by one, starting at the outermost edges.
The mana swirled wildly as the circle shrank in size. Sweating, Heather gulped and glared at the magic circle.
*Ooohh!*
*Shatter!*
Heather gritted his teeth, and with a final burst of magic, the magic circle in the lab dissipated completely.
The surge of mana fizzled out in an instant, and Heather staggered to the floor, breathing heavily.
“Hufff….. Phew…”
“Drink this.”
Redin handed Heather a potion.
Waiting for Heather to regain his bearings, as he drank the potion, Redin looked around the empty room.
Several desks and experimental tools.
A tower stood in the center.
As Heather got to his feet, he followed behind him. Redis, who had already entered, looked around in wonder.
“Look at this! There’s something here.”
Where Redis pointed, there were several diagrams.
A cylindrical launch pad.
A sphere that appeared to be a missile.
In addition, there were intricate symbols, spells, and numbers.
“So this is the Super Magic Bomb…”
Heather pointed at the spherical missile, squinting at it as he gave an overview.
“The main material is magic stones, and it’s shaped into a round egg using a composite material, and then an explosive enchantment is inscribed on top.”
“What else?”
“The range is capable of launching it almost across the continent. This one has formulas for calculating distance, direction, and accuracy, and this one seems to be a way to move the launcher.”
“Does it say how to build it?”
“Hold on, I’ll have to look that up.”
“Let’s each look around and see what we can find.”
“Okay.”
They split up and began rummaging through the lab table in the laboratory.
Heather, who was always interested in magic, wandered around as if mesmerized with something, while Redis looked around with a bored expression.
Slowly, the tower in the center caught his attention, so he checked it out.
After looking around a bit.
He realized it wasn’t a tower at all, but a launch pad. The interior was wide enough for five people to stand with their arms outstretched.
There appeared to be magic circles carved into the surface of the structure, and it needed a significant amount of mana to be operational.
“Found it!”
As if he’d found a new toy.
Heather called to them, sounding more energized than ever.
Stepping back outside, Redin went over to where Heather was.
“Look at this. It has detailed instructions on how to make a super magic bomb.”
“You said the main ingredient is a magic stone. What are the other ingredients? Are they hard to come by?”
“Thousand-year-old thunderbolt wood, flame turtle shells, and so on. I’ve heard of them all before, but I’ve never heard of Rakto’s horn powder.”
Rakto.
A transcendent species.
This one was not difficult to obtain, as long as one knew where it was. If he asks Isabelle in the Kingdom of Resha, she should be able to get it for him.
“How long do you think this will take?”
“It seems difficult to make with the old equipment inside here, so it looks like we’ll need to acquire new ones first….”
“If there’s anything you need, ask Marek for it and start working on it as soon as possible.”
“Why, is it urgent?”
He nodded at Heather’s question.
“Yeah. The Demon Church is going to start a war soon, and we’re going to need this to stop them.”

The Kingdom of Adrian.
Staring out the window from her room in the royal palace, Rebecca gulped dryly as she watched the many processions pass through the palace gates.
The two Dukes that supported the kingdom.
Countless counts and viscounts beneath them.
The giant merchants who joined hands with the Kingdom of Adrian.
And many others who had come to the Kingdom to take part in the coronation.
“I’m nervous…..”
She tried to calm herself down by voicing out her feelings.
“Haa…. I’m even more nervous than I was during the trials.”
The successor examination had just concluded.
At the last meeting, the knight commander revealed the criminal activities of the second prince and count.
Their schemes that were revealed along with them.
Even at the moment when she was officially confirmed as the Successor after hearing it all in person, she had never been this nervous.
At the time, it felt like a dream.
Now it was a reality.
*Knock* *Knock*
“Your Majesty, let us help you get ready.”
The door opened and the maids entered. A long line of maids with various trays in their hands.
At a gesture from the Head Maid, they moved.
They brought out the uniforms for the coronation and helped Rebecca change into them.
Once Rebecca’s hair was arranged, adorned with various jewelry, and equipped with a ceremonial sword, they stepped back.
With a quick turn of her head, Rebecca looked in the mirror.
Beneath her red hair, which resembled her mother’s, was a pure white uniform. A unique garment, made stitch by stitch by the artisans of the Kingdom of Adrian.
It fitted perfectly and the material was soft.
“Shall we proceed to the ceremony hall?”
The head maid gestured to the door.
Two of the maids moved to open the door wide, and Rebecca took a deep breath and stepped through.
When she stepped out the door, she was met by a group of royal knights.
Lined up on either side, the knights dropped to one knee and bowed their heads toward Rebecca.
“Salute!”
Rebecca strode calmly down the hallway.
Behind her, the knights followed her, forming a long procession of maids behind the knights.
She took the stairs in the center of the hallway and ascended to the upper floor.
Walking along another hallway, she entered a large room. It was a room Rebecca had been in once before, during the departure ceremony.
The room with the balcony.
As Rebecca entered the room, some of the knights stood guard at the door, while the rest of the group spread out to monitor the surroundings.
The maids once again carefully checked Rebecca’s hair and clothing, then stepped back and stood with their hands clasped together.
The head maid approached, looking at Rebecca.
“Your Majesty, would you like to take some time to calm down and look out the window?”
Rebecca did as she was told and looked out the window.
There were many people gathered in the great square.
The expressions on their faces were varied. Seeing their expressions, her heart felt heavy.
There was only one reason she wanted to be here.
To get revenge for her mother.
To discover the secret of her death and punish those who were responsible.
So she spent a long time lost in thought.
‘Am I fit to become a king like this?’
‘Am I good enough?’
‘Should I give up now?’
While she was struggling to come up with answers, she met with her mentor and talked to her.
-To prevent the same thing from happening. To prevent someone from living a life of injustice. Create the world you desire.
At that moment, the events of Burning Hell flashed through her mind.
The various crimes that she encountered.
The things that happened while apprehending criminals.
The people who suffered from those crimes.
‘The world I want.’
It would be difficult to create a world without criminals, but she still wanted to create a kingdom where people could be happy.
Rebecca had many doubts about whether she could do it, but her time with Redin had taught her one thing.
‘I can do it.’
‘I can do it.’
She boosted her confidence by telling herself she could do it.
“Let the ceremony begin.”
The Chief Justice stepped into the room and held up the ceremony book. He carefully recited the ceremonial rites, and the maids moved in time.
She was draped in a cloak with the kingdom’s emblem.
At her waist, she carried a knight’s sword, the symbol of the Kingdom.
Finally, a special crown in the shape of a sword made of iron, the symbol of the king, was placed on her head.
*Creak!*
The balcony doors opened.
Rebecca made her way slowly to the edge of the balcony and out into the crowd. Cheers and shouts erupted, and Rebecca squared her shoulders and raised her hands in the air.
“Waaaaaa!”
“Your Majesty, Congratulations!”
Rebecca took in the enthusiastic cheers and expressions of the people all around her. That was the end of the coronation ceremony.
Normally, the ceremony would have been more grandiose.
The absence of the King in Adrian had been too long, and there was too much business to attend to.
Rebecca immediately made her way to the throne room.
As she walked along the red carpet, the nobles who had been waiting inside lowered their postures and showed courtesy to Rebecca.
Rebecca walked over to the throne, sat down, looked at the nobles, and opened her mouth.
“There are many things I wish to address, but… I will begin by handling the most urgent matters.”
“…….”
“From now on, we will prepare for war with the Demon Church.”
