Chapter 381 ⤞ Integration of Forces
Adam wasn't angry about Ra's divine status — after all, the Sun God had killed those hundred thousand people.
Nor was he being overly compassionate, demanding justice for the victims.
Adam was concerned about himself.
These people had willingly sacrificed over a hundred thousand lives to artificially create a Campione. If someday, for even greater benefits, they allied with other Campiones or Heretic Gods to betray him, he would have only himself to blame for his foolishness.
Sitting high on his throne, he looked with a faint smile at the three people kneeling below, curious about their response.
But he never expected the melodramatic story that would unfold.
Simply put, this matter had nothing to do with them. It was entirely the fault of the three previous rulers of Kemet, an Egyptian Mage Association.
About 30 years ago, Ra, the Creator God and a Heretic God, suddenly appeared in the world.
He manifested at the source of ancient Egypt, in the Crocodilopolis Ruins in Fayum. Due to his divine nature, Ra couldn't escape the constraints of the "Source" of his myth.
With no other choice, he created a commotion to alert the previous rulers.
At first, they feared Ra's existence and briefly considered submission.
Humans submitting to a Heretic God — contemptible, yes, but staying alive isn't shameful.
Then they uncovered a truth: Ra could not escape the constraints of the Source.
Their evil desires began to surge!
The previous three rulers schemed, using intimidation, manipulation, and bribery to gain the support of Ancient Egypt.
The benefits brought by a Campione were immeasurable! Even if they failed, they had made an agreement with Ra — a win-win situation!
But they never expected a third scenario: No one could slay the God, and no one could be possessed!
Thus began a deadly practice lasting ten long years. The disappearance of about 10,000 people annually devastated Ancient Egypt.
It crippled development and caused significant human resource damage. Even Ancient Egypt's leaders began considering surrender.
But those power-holders, blinded by ambition, continued manipulating the leaders. They passionately insisted that creating a Campione would recover all losses quickly and instantly transform them into a "Major Power" with global influence!
They gritted their teeth and persisted for a few more years, but they overlooked a critical issue.
The feelings of the oppressed common people!
Finally, their tyrannical rule was overthrown — by the very three people now kneeling before Adam!
As for why Neith hadn't explained clearly before... one of the previous rulers was her father.
"...My King, we sincerely submit to you, and wish for your glory to shelter us!"
"May your glory shelter us!" x2
Seeing no deception in their manner, Adam believed them.
These people wouldn't risk telling such easily disprovable lies; such falsehoods could be verified by simply asking others.
However, he still had one doubt.
"According to your explanation, if you could influence the highest authority, you should be Ancient Egypt's largest and strongest Mage Association. So why submit to me so readily, even eagerly?"
Although Mage Associations all seek the protection of Campiones, they should at least show some restraint like the Seven Sisters in Italy, putting on a show to increase their value.
{T/N: Female Wolf (Rome, Italy), Eagle of the Blue Sky (Rome, Italy), Olden Dame (Turin, Italy), Capital of Lilies (Florence, Italy), Aegis (Palermo, Italy), Copper-Black Cross (Milan, Italy) and Bronze-Black Cross (Milan, Italy)}
With you rushing to beg for patronage, can you still claim to be the strongest in Ancient Egypt?
Hearing Adam's question, Felsa began to pour out his grievances.
As it turned out, they were indeed once the strongest Mage Association in Ancient Egypt. However, years of attrition had caused their organization to rapidly shrink.
They had nearly reached the point of being annexed by other Mage Associations.
It was precisely because of this that Felsa rose in rebellion to preserve the foundation of the Mage Association, overthrowing his father's brutal rule in one decisive stroke.
"...Is that so? You've had it tough too."
"Yes! My King, to manage this Mage Association, I really... woo woo woo."
Wow... a man in his thirties crying on command, and so heartbrokenly...
Come on, I can see right through this act! If I believed everything you said, I'd truly be a hopeless fool!
Those in positions of power are never simple!
"Well, I don't really care which society serves me, but I have a certain fondness for Neith, for this estate that appeared before my eyes when I woke up, for all of you... so, do you understand what I'm saying?"
"Yes! Felsa will offer the King his loyalty, swearing by the name of Kemet!"
"Swearing by the name of Kemet" x2
Kemet, or "Black Land", is what Ancient Egyptians called their homeland — a concept representing their deepest faith, nearly as powerful as their devotion to Ra.
"Good! Then I accept your allegiance!"
Adam stopped dawdling and promptly accepted their loyalty, then issued his first command.
"Felsa, integrate all of Ancient Egypt's Mage Associations! I demand to see their respective highest authorities in this estate, in this hall, three days from now... Of course, if they refuse to obey, then it will be time to proclaim the Demon King's might!"
"...Yes! My King, your will shall be carried out to the end! Even if Felsa has to risk his life, he will complete your order and give you a satisfactory answer!"
"We will complete your order!" x2
Felsa's lips curled into an excited smile.
He could already envision Kemet rising again in his hands, becoming even more glorious and powerful than during his father's time!

In just three short days, all the Mage Associations of Ancient Egypt were integrated!
The new Campione made an earth-shattering debut, his reputation spreading throughout the world and creating a sense of urgency among Mage Associations on other continents.
Yet just as they anxiously pondered the new King's next move, he unexpectedly went silent. Beyond consolidating the scattered forces of Ancient Egypt, he took no further action.
This sudden inactivity left those who had been on edge completely bewildered, unable to make sense of his strategy.
