Chapter 296: The Inferno Duel [Part-5]

The Inferno Duel [Part-5]

Leon vs the Leader and His Henchman [Center Fight]

At the heart of the battlefield, chaos thundered—yet all eyes were drawn to a single clash.

Leon faced them head-on, like a storm given form.

He surged forward with blistering speed, a flash of steel in motion. Every muscle rippled with the power of the Voidbreaker Art, his blade dancing with deadly precision. Ahead, the hooded leader raised both hands, chanting swiftly under his breath.

"[Acqua Vein Slash]!" the leader cried.

A slicing arc of pressurized water tore through the air, racing toward Leon.

But Leon was faster.

He swung his blade upward, fire encasing the edge of sword in a shimmering fire coat.

"Scorch the heavens— [Flame Maw]!" he roared.

A serpent of fire exploded from the steel, jaws wide open, hissing with hunger. The heat warped the air. Flames lashed across the battlefield like they wanted to eat it whole.

The hooded man moved fast—unnaturally fast. Water runes lit up across his blade as he slipped aside with smooth precision. And then—his henchman appeared.

Twin short swords gleamed as he spun into view, midair, twisting with a grace that felt too easy. Wind rippled around him like it answered his will.

Leon tore through smoke and fire, eyes burning gold.

The henchman charged. Wind surged in his palms.

"[Gale Torrent]!"

A spiral of slicing wind ripped through the air, straight toward Leon.

But the earth cracked a second later.

"[Stone Grasp]!" Leon bellowed.

Jagged pillars of rock exploded up beneath the wind mage, smashing into his legs, shattering the ground he stood on. Leon didn't stop. He leapt, body twisting mid-flight, his blade swinging down in a vicious arc.

Steel clashed.

Magic flared.

Their weapons collided—again, again. Sparks flew. The henchman gritted his teeth, barely deflecting each strike as wind spiraled violently around him. Every hit came faster. Heavier. Harder. The air shook with every blow.

Spells cracked the sky like thunder.

"[Tidal Spear!]" shouted the leader, sending a lance of water tearing toward Leon.

Leon's counter was instant.

Leon met it with a timely counter— "[Rockguard Wall!]"

A thick shield of earth rose just in time. The wall shattered on impact, water bursting through—but it had done its job, slowing the deadly thrust.

Behind him, the henchman appeared without a sound.

"[Cyclone Fang!]"

Leon twisted instinctively in mid-air. The wind attack grazed his shoulder, slicing through fabric and skin alike. Blood sprayed. He hit the ground hard, knees bent, breath ragged.

"Persistent bastards," he muttered, golden eyes narrowing.

Drawing in deep, Leon summoned his fire affinity once more.

"[Inferno Bloom!]"

Fire erupted from his body in a wave, a blooming inferno that forced both enemies backward. Then—he shifted his element.

Water flowed around his form like mist, curling along his limbs.

He vanished.

Reappearing behind the henchman in an instant, his blade came down with a sharp hiss of air.

The man spun—just barely catching the strike.

But Leon wasn't done.

Darkness rippled around him. His hand lifted.

"[Black Vortex Spear!]"

"[Fire Fang!]"

He merged both spells in an instant. At the same time, his blade roared to life, flames licking along its edge.

"[Eclipse Fang]!"

A spear of dark energy spiraled into existence, coiled with fire, wind, and a dense, unseen core of earth magic. It vibrated with violent intensity, a living storm of destruction. Hissing with force, it pulsed in his grip like something barely contained.

The henchman's eyes flared wide, terror flashing through him.

Too late.

Leon unleashed the spear with a vicious hurl. It screamed through the air like a cursed comet, black fire spinning around it in a furious spiral.

The explosion that followed was savage.

Flame and darkness swallowed the space in a single breath.

The henchman raised both blades to block—

But they shattered on impact.

The spear punched straight through his swords. Straight through his chestplate. Straight through bone.

A choked scream tore out of him—then nothing.

His body crumpled to the earth, lifeless. A smoking wound ripped down his torso, splitting him open, steam curling from it.

Leon turned slowly.

The battlefield had thinned.

Only Leon, Ronan, Black—and the masked leader —remained.

Only the leader still stood.

And the leader's expression grew cold.

"You... you've mastered the Dark Element to the point you can blend it with others?" the leader hissed, voice trembling with disbelief. "That... that makes your death even more necessary!"

Leon stepped forward, smoke rising faintly from the scorched marks on his body. But his posture remained solid. His muscles rippled beneath his torn clothes, hardened by the brutal force of the Voidbreaker Arts.

"I don't give a damn about your words." His voice came low, sharp. "But let's get one thing straight…"

His eyes burned.

"You're not walking away, bastard. I'm killing you here."

The leader struck first—fast. His blade swept in, drenched in boiling water magic, aimed right for Leon's throat.

Leon raised his sword to block—the impact hit like a wave, knocking him back a step.

But he grounded himself instantly—calling on the earth below. Magic rooted his feet. He braced and charged again, blade crashing against the leader's in a roar of sparks.

Dark clashed with water. Steel clashed with magic. Fury clashed with resolve.

The leader staggered as Leon's next blow landed hard enough to rattle bone.

"You'll have to try harder than that," he growled.

He lashed out—another slash—

But Leon moved in close, twisting his blade tight, whispering an incantation under his breath.

"Wind Arc."

The gust burst out, forcing the leader to push himself backward, creating space to avoid being gutted.

Leon smirked. "Now look who's about to die."

From the side, Black and Ronan returned, bloodied but unbroken, small cuts marking their armor. Their eyes locked onto the final enemy.

Together, they stepped into formation—three surrounding one.

The leader didn't speak.

Only rage filled the space behind his mask.

The final battle had begun.

Only four remained.

Leon. Ronan. Black. And the masked leader, alone in the storm of his own making.
