Chapter 491: You cannot enter into a second contract with any of them
Not only Arabel, but also Idan were pleased to receive the permits for Irene, Arslan, and Hailey. As for the next ones they will send to Geminia, they will have to convince her on their own and prove that they are worthy to conclude a contract with her descendants.
"Have you checked if the net is catching here?" Idan asked, who didn't have time to check it himself. He decided to check with Arabel and the others.
"No, the network is not working inside the barrier, everything is blocked," Arabel replied. They've already checked it after arriving here and found out that all the connections are down.
"On the one hand, it's sad, but on the other hand, it's even better," Idan said, checking his smartphone, which he pulled out of the spatial ring.
"We will need sentries who will monitor the situation in the world outside the barrier and inform those inside from time to time," — Idan immediately thought. "And to do this, you first need to install a permanent Access Portal somewhere in the capital."
"What are you thinking about?" — Arabel asked, distracting Idan from his thoughts.
"About some measures," he admitted, putting everything off for later and returning to the conversation.
Irene was very surprised to learn that Geminia is an ancestor of Bera, and was glad that she gave the chance to try to establish a contract with one of her descendants. Lately, this thought has not left Irene, becoming in a sense an obsession.
Now, she, Arslan, and Hailey had to first study the first volume of the guide to the path of the Beast Tamer and form their first Beast Souls. After that, they will wait in line for Idan and Arabel to help them get to the so-called place known as Limbo.
Of the three, only Hailey didn't have the full information and was trying to figure out the gist of the conversation on her own based on what she'd heard.
During the conversation, Sierra and the others shared their discovery: it turned out that it was impossible to conclude a second contract with a Perfect Doppelganger.
These unique creatures impressed the women so much that they decided to try to sign a contract exclusively with them. Sierra, who was the first to form her second Beast Soul, attempted to do so after receiving Geminia's permission. However, to everyone's surprise, she failed to achieve her goal.
Firstly, she was unable to attract the attention of any of the Doppelgangers. And secondly, when Geminia intervened to see if it was possible for one being to form a contract with multiple doppelgangers, she asked one of her descendants to form a contract with Sierra. But even that ended in complete failure.
When Sierra tried to form a contract with the second Doppelganger, she encountered resistance from her first Beast Soul, which would not allow her to do so.
However, Sierra did not give up and tried to make a contract by force. At that moment, the unexpected happened: her first Beast Soul tried to absorb the second, and the contract was almost concluded. To prevent this, Sierra stopped the process at the last moment, preventing the First Beast Soul from absorbing the Second.
"It follows that one being can only enter into a contract with one Doppelganger," Sierra concluded, adding another important clarification: "If you have entered into a contract with any of the Mute, Talking, or Perfect Doppelgangers, you cannot enter into a second contract with any of them."
"Yes, it is," Geminia herself confirmed.
Now that all the women have found out about this, they're thinking about which beast to choose for their second contract. In order to continue cultivate on the path of the Beast Tamer, they needed to first conclude a second contract, saturate their second Beast Soul, and only then proceed to form the Third Beast Soul. Therefore, the choice of a second contract has become their main task in the near future.
Soon Idan and Arslan left the kitchen, leaving the women to chat in private.
After leaving the house, Idan sat down in a chair on the terrace and, leaning back, fixed his gaze on the artificial sky. He thought about it.
The third calamity was less than a month away, and they had so much to do. Idan couldn't figure out how, amid all these worries, to find time to spend alone with Arabel and at least go on a date.
"Eh..." he sighed. "We need to stop doing everything ourselves and shift some of the responsibilities to others. It's the only way we'll have more time for ourselves."
Arslan came closer and sat down next to him in an armchair.
"How do you like this place?" asked Idan, continuing to stare into the distance.
"It's quiet and peaceful here, I like it," Arslan replied.
"What do you think about moving here with everyone? With my sister, nephew, and mother?"
"If you don't mind, I'd love to," Arslan said without hesitation. In his opinion, this place was the safest in their world at the moment, and he would gladly bring Irene and his son here.
"Okay, discuss this with my sister, and you can ask your sister for help. There are enough spare rooms in the house, and you can occupy them for now," Idan said. "In the coming days, Belle and I will probably start to renovate this place and build some new houses."
Arslan nodded in agreement.
"If you need help, tell me, I'll help in any way I can," he offered.
"You didn't have to say that, if we need your help, your sister will come running to you right away," Idan said with a laugh, knowing that Arabel would really do that without hesitation.
"You're right," Arslan smiled, agreeing with Idan's words.
"Idan," — Arslan called. "About Hailey. I see that both you and my sister trust her very much. Is your trust based for a reason?"
"The oath of loyalty," Idan replied bluntly. "At the System level."
"Oh?" said Arslan in surprise, and Idan noticed how his gaze went into the distance for a moment, and even more amazement appeared on his face. It was immediately clear to Idan that Arslan was communicating with his system.
"That's how it is. Now I understand," Arslan nodded, realizing what his older sister and Idan's trust in Hailey was based on. The realization of this fact calmed him down, and he felt relieved.
