Chapter 471: Offer to join the Guild
Arabel's admiration for her sworn older sister, Sierra, grew as she learned more about her Dark Valkyrie bloodline.
She easily found the apartment complex where the Griffith family's apartment was located, following the address she had received from Esma.
The time of Arabel's visit coincided with the period when most people were finishing work and returning home.
Leo's mother was busy preparing the evening dinner, and his sister was sitting at the table, doing her homework and sometimes being distracted by watching short videos on the Internet. However, Leo's older brother was not in sight at home.
Arabel quietly opened the balcony door and slipped inside, scanning her surroundings, and easily found Leo's room.
When she reached the door of Leo's room, an unpleasant smell hit her nose. She quickly covered her nose and held her breath.
"What's that stink?" - she thought.
However, that didn't stop her, and she continued on her way.
Arabel frowned when she saw the mess inside Leo's room.
However, she soon noticed Leo, who was trembling and looking around as if he was looking for someone.
"Have I been discovered?" asked Arabel.
[No, Host. You were not discovered. Only the moments of penetration were detected. When you opened and closed the door. Your concealment ability cannot hide these actions. And if someone is constantly watching, it won't escape their attention,] the System explained.
"How could I have made such a mistake?" Arabel thought with annoyance, realizing her mistake. She was so convinced of her concealment abilities that she forgot that they only worked on her and those she chose, not everyone around her.
Arabel ability couldn't hide her interaction with the world.
"Who… Who's there?" asked Leo, overcome with fear, his body shuddering like jelly.
His system had just recorded the door to his room opening and closing, but there was no sign of the intruder.
Leo was not prepared for such a turn of events. He had no protection measures against such intrusions. His confidence was based on the fact that no one knows who he really is. However, he was also aware that there were already people who had this information.
Therefore, his suspicions immediately turned to these people.
A small ripple appeared in front of Leo's eyes, then a clump of dark mist, and a dark figure stepped out of it. She showed herself slowly, not hurriedly, standing a little away from Leo so as not to frighten him even more.
[w(°o°)w]
[It's her, Host. The Duchess of Darkness, Elsa.]
Leo's System recognized Arabel by her appearance faster than he did.
"Huh? The Duchess of Darkness, Elsa?" Leo exclaimed after hearing his System's words.
"It's really her!" Leo was surprised, and his eyes lit up, the fear that had gripped him evaporated, replaced by excitement.
"Huh. Of course you know me..." Arabel said, remembering that there had been so much information about them online since morning, and a man like Leo, who liked to secretly observe others, couldn't help but miss it.
"Yes, it's me, the Duchess of Darkness, Elsa," Arabel introduced herself, lifting her hat and showing Leo her face.
Leo, hearing Arabel's voice and seeing her, despite the darkness in the room, was embarrassed with excitement and lowered his gaze. He started fiddling with his fingers, not knowing what to do next.
His excitement grew, and out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a pile of trash. It made him feel ashamed and awkward. He wanted to find a hole and hide there.
After some silence, without waiting for Leo to raise his head, Arabel decided to act and began the conversation she had come for.
"Leopold Griffith," she said.
"Eh? Do you... do you know me?" Leo exclaimed in surprise, hearing his full name from the mouth of the Duchess of Darkness Elsa herself.
"Hehe, of course I know. If I didn't know you, why would I come here?" Arabel replied with a light laugh.
Leo froze, his thoughts were confused with excitement, and he stopped understanding what was happening.
"Ha ha ha ha," he laughed, trying to hide his awkwardness.
"Okay, Leo, I'll get to the point," Arabel said in a more serious tone, which scared Leo a little.
"We know that you are an awakened one, and we know something about your ability," Arabel began, drawing Leo's attention.
After making sure that he was listening attentively, she continued,
"Our Guild considers your ability amazing and very useful, so we invite you to join us."
"To your Guild? To the Kingdom Guild? Leo asked excitedly, unable to hide his amazement.
"Yes, we invite you to join the Kingdom, — Arabel confirmed.
"I'm ready. I want to become a part of your Guild," Leo said without hesitation.
Not long ago, he was asking his System what title he would have if he joined this Guild, not even imagining that in a few minutes he would actually be invited to join.
It was like a dream that had finally come true.
Leo's brain seemed to shut down from excitement, having lost all protective functions.
His usually cautious and reserved nature was suppressed by his agitated emotions.
Leo did not ask about the advantages of joining the Guild, nor about the possible difficulties he would have to face.
Arabel, hearing his agreement, could not hide her joy, but quickly pulled herself together.
"Take your time, Leo, take your time," she said.
"Think carefully. We're giving you one day to think about it." Arabel decided to give Leo time to think about everything, taking into account how close he was to his family.
"You have to understand that by joining our Guild, your life will change. You will no longer be able to live as you please. You will become a part of the Guild," Arabel said in a serious voice, so that Leo realized the seriousness of the choice. "You might even have to leave your family for their safety."
Idan and Arabel, of course, were willing to take care of Leo's family. But he had to make his own decision first.
"Besides, we offer you an incredible opportunity for development. Believe me, you have no idea what we can offer you for your services," Arabel added at the end.
Hearing Arabel's words, Leo's excitement subsided a bit, and his mind finally started working normally. Questions started popping up in his head one after another.
"I'll be back tomorrow at the same time and I'll wait for your final answer," Arabel said and, enveloped in the element of darkness, disappeared, leaving Leo alone with his thoughts.
