Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Dungeon
Supreme Gacha System
Chapter 3: Dungeon
Leon and the girls moved forward, greeted by the familiar scent of damp soil that filled the air. The earthy aroma mingled with a hint of decay, a reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows.
"Master, shall we enter?" Stella asked, her voice a blend of curiosity and concern. Fei echoed her question, her eyes scanning the dark entrance ahead.
Leon paused, contemplating. There could be a chance to obtain magic crystals within, but there could also be dangers lurking inside. His heart raced with both excitement and trepidation as he weighed his options.
"Alright, let's do it. I can't earn magic crystals if I don't take action. There might be something valuable in this ruin or dungeon," he declared, his voice steady. "Fortune favors the brave, and what's there to fear? I have the three of you by my side, and I also have the 10th Tier experience card."
"Alright, let's go!" Leon shouted, his resolve solid as he prepared to enter the unknown.
The three girls nodded, their expressions filled with determination. Even the mischievous Luna seemed to understand the gravity of the moment, her usual playful demeanor subdued. Stella glanced at her, and Luna quickly transformed into her beast form, her snow fur glinting in the dim light.
Fei followed suit, shifting into her ethereal form. "Master, come and ride me," she said, her voice melodic and inviting.
"Understood," Leon replied, feeling a surge of confidence. It was safer this way. Stella climbed onto Luna's back, while Leon mounted Fei. Luna and Stella took the lead, moving gracefully through the passageway, with Fei and Leon following closely behind. The corridor was wide enough for at least ten humans to walk side by side, the stone walls cool and damp to the touch.
As they ventured deeper, the darkness enveloped them, and the sounds of their footsteps echoed softly in the silence. Leon glanced around, his heart pounding. What dangers await us in this dungeon?
Suddenly, Fei conjured nine tiny white flames on her tail, illuminating their surroundings with a soft glow. The flickering light danced across the walls, the occasional glint of moisture.
"Ha… you conjured flames without using a skill?" Leon asked, surprised.
"Of course, Master. This flame is part of our bloodline; we can control it and even use it to protect ourselves. It just consumes mana continuously," she explained, her eyes sparkling with pride.
As they continued down the corridor, they soon reached the bottom, where they were met with a vast, dark space that stretched hundreds of meters wide. The soil was slightly moist, and illuminated mushrooms dotted the area, providing a faint, eerie light.
About 300 meters ahead, they could vaguely see the shadow of a cave, a foreboding entrance that seemed to beckon them closer.
As they moved forward, a low growl reverberated through the ground, sending a chill down Leon's spine. The tension in the air thickened, and the team instinctively tensed, ready for action. A few seconds later, a group of around 50 goblins rushed toward them, their grotesque forms illuminated by the flickering flames.
"So, this is a dungeon!" Leon exclaimed, his voice barely a whisper. The level 1 label hovering above the nearest goblin confirmed their location. Stella and Fei instantly understood the situation.
Stella, her hand instinctively tightening on her bow, prepared to unleash a volley of ice arrows. Fei, already summoning a white flame, was poised to incinerate the approaching horde. But Leon raised a hand, stopping them.
"Wait!" he commanded, his voice sharper now, a newfound resolve hardening his tone. He remembered the despair he'd felt before, the helplessness of facing insurmountable odds without the means to fight back. That feeling wouldn't grip him again.
I need to become strong! The thought pulsed through him, a fierce determination igniting within him. This wasn't just about surviving. This was about proving he could overcome his weaknesses.
A sudden realization struck him—he was weaponless! Without hesitation, he accessed his inventory. The memory of their earlier encounter with the wolves flashed through his mind. They had collected magic crystals from their corpses, even though the creatures lacked magic cores.
"Maybe that's the rule of this world," he mused, "all magical beasts, monsters, or dungeon creatures drop magic crystals upon death."
His inventory confirmed his theory. There, amidst the unrecognizable remains of the five wolves, lay five low-grade magic crystals.
The goblins were rapidly closing in. Panic threatened to overwhelm him, but he fought it back. He frantically opened the system shop, desperately searching for a sword, any weapon. He found nothing suitable. His options were dwindling.
With a grimace, he scanned the remaining items. His gaze fell upon the kitchen knives. Reluctantly, he purchased 2 of them, spending two of his hard-earned magic crystals. It wasn't ideal, but it was something.
"In this world," Leon muttered, recalling the rule of this world, "you can equip up to four pieces of equipment and four accessories. Weapons and shields are considered accessories, but there's a catch: you can use them, but only equipping a weapon suited to your profession grants stat bonuses."
He lacked a main profession; He could choose his main profession upon reaching 1st Tier. His options for the Warrior class were Knight, Guardian, or Spear Master. These kitchen knives, while lacking inherent attributes, would be enough to deal against these level 1 goblins.
The goblins were now only twenty meters away. Leon dismounted from Fei's back, the urgency of the situation palpable. He retrieved a knife, the cold steel a stark contrast to the sweat beading on his palms. He tightened his grip, his resolve hardening. He wouldn't let fear paralyze him. He would take the initiative.
He lunged at the nearest goblin, thrusting the knife toward its head. The goblin, surprisingly unfazed, swung its crude wooden club at Leon's head. Leon reacted instantly, dodging the blow with a practiced grace he hadn't known he possessed.
"Damn it!" he cursed, the adrenaline surging through him. "You want a fair fight? Dream on!"
He abandoned his frontal assault, relying instead on his superior speed. He circled the goblin, then struck, his blade finding its mark. The goblin shrieked, not immediately dying, but writhing in agony. Seizing the opportunity,
Leon swiftly slashed its neck. The goblin dissolved into smoke, leaving behind a single low-grade magic crystal that materialized in his system space—a grim but satisfying reward.
The remaining goblins surged forward, a chaotic wave of crude weapons and guttural cries. Leon found himself in a desperate situation, realizing that his speed advantage was less effective against a tightly packed mob. He couldn't afford to be caught in their midst.
This was his first true taste of life-or-death combat, and the sheer intensity of it was overwhelming. Despite his enhanced speed and agility, he was forced to retreat, picking off the goblins one by one, a relentless, exhausting game of cat and mouse.
His breath grew ragged, his muscles screaming in protest. Even with his advantages, fatigue gnawed at him. With thirty goblins still standing, a desperate plan formed in his mind. He activated his A-Rank skill, Moonlight Aura, a surge of silver light enveloping him. His speed multiplied fivefold, a dizzying rush of motion.
Initially, the sudden increase in velocity nearly resulted in a collision with the very goblins he was trying to evade. But after a few frantic minutes, he adapted, his movements becoming fluid and precise. The silver light surrounding him blurred into a shimmering halo as he danced through the fray.
Just as the five-minute boost was about to expire, he landed a final, decisive blow, the last goblin dissolving into smoke in the final seconds of his enhanced speed.
Leon collapsed onto the damp soil, gasping for air, his vision blurred. His body heaved, spent and exhausted. His clothes were torn, his knives bent and useless, lying discarded beside him.
The girls rushed to his side, concern etched on their faces. "Master, are you alright?" Stella and Fei asked simultaneously, their voices laced with worry.
Luna, her usual mischievous glint replaced with genuine concern, looked at him with pity. "You're still weak," she said, her tone surprisingly soft. "If I were you, I would just killed them all in a minute."
Stella's sharp rebuke was immediate. "Luna, don't be so impolite to Master," she snapped.
Luna shrank back, her head lowered, silent. Fei, though equally displeased, remained quiet, helping Leon sit up.
"Stella, I think Luna's right," Leon said, surprising them all. The exhaustion hadn't dulled his awareness. "Don't scold her."
With their combined efforts, they helped Leon to his feet and found a suitable resting place. As he settled onto Fei's lap, Stella's healing magic soothed his wounds. Luna sat quietly in the corner, her gaze fixed on Leon, a flicker of something akin to respect in her eyes.
The pangs of hunger, a stark reminder of his long, foodless day. Leon opened the system shop, navigating to the food section with a sigh of relief. Two buckets of golden-brown fried chicken, steaming bowls of rice, juicy burgers, crispy french fries, comforting egg soup, and ice-cold cola filled his virtual cart. He also added a sturdy folding table, four comfortable chairs, and a basic set of kitchen utensils: spoons, bowls, plates, and glasses. Finally, a luminous pearl, promising to banish the dungeon's oppressive darkness, completed his order. After all, I couldn't find any electric lights on the system and said that it was not available.
He stored his purchases in his system space, then stood, a smile playing on his lips. The girls watched him expectantly, their eyes shining with a mixture of curiosity and anticipation. Leon's stomach rumbled loudly, a testament to his hunger.
"I'm really hungry," he admitted, his voice a chuckle. He found a relatively flat patch of ground and, with a wave of his hand, the table and chairs materialized, a neat arrangement in the dim light. The illuminating pearl, placed in a glass in the center of the table, cast a soft, warm glow, banishing the oppressive darkness.
He arranged the plates, glasses, spoons, and food, the mouthwatering aroma filling the air. He invited the girls to sit. Even Luna, her earlier sullenness forgotten, her eyes wide with excitement at the sight of the feast, eagerly joined them.
They ate with gusto, their faces brightening with each delicious bite. The girls were curious about the unfamiliar foods. "Master, what are these called?" they asked, their voices filled with wonder.
Leon patiently explained each dish, Luna kept asking him questions while her cheeks puffing, her words often muffled by food.
When they were finally finished, Luna, with her seemingly bottomless appetite, had consumed the lion's share. Of the twenty pieces of fried chicken (ten per bucket), Stella and Fei had each managed only two, Leon four, and Luna the remaining fourteen. She still looked unsatisfied.
Leon sighed, a mixture of amusement and exasperation. He bought another bucket of fried chicken and gave it to Luna.
After a while Leon stored the table, chairs, and utensils back into his system space. Luna, already asleep on Stella's shoulder, drooled slightly, murmuring in her sleep, "This fried chicken is mine! All mine!"
Leon shook his head, a fond smile gracing his lips. Even as a powerful mythical beast, she was still, a little girl.
To ensure a comfortable night's rest, he bought three camping tents, three pillows, and three blankets (at a cost of three magic crystals). Stella and Luna would share a tent, saving him the expense of buying a fourth. The tents, he discovered, even came with built-in beds.
He also purchased a new shirt, hoodie, pants, and underwear to replace his torn and soiled clothes. Soap, water, and a towel were added for a much-needed bath.
He was left with a mere two magic crystals from his initial fifty-three. He used them to buy two more kitchen knives.
"Not a single magic crystal left!" Leon exclaimed, shaking his head, a wry smile on his face. "It's so hard to earn, but so easy to spend!"
As they prepared to settle in for the night and discuss a watch schedule, Luna let out a piercing howl that echoed through the cavern. Ten shimmering golden ripples materialized in the air, followed by the sudden appearance of ten magnificent white wolves, each an exact replica of Luna.
"Oh!" Leon exclaimed, a wave of realization washing over him. "I forgot Luna has that SS-Rank skill to summon ten Legendary-Rank Silver Moon Wolves."
