Chapter 7: Chapter 3 Test
The car sped along for about fifteen minutes, the tall buildings on both sides of the Superconductive Highway becoming more numerous and higher. Skyscrapers around three to four hundred meters high were everywhere, with some buildings even exceeding a kilometer in height!
As we neared the city center, the volume of traffic on the Superconductive Highway increased, the number of lanes doubled, and the highway expanded several layers.
As the capital of the Asia-Pacific Community, Chang'an is one of the largest super-metropolises on Earth, with the nearly forty thousand square kilometer Guanzhong Plain completely incorporated into the capital region, and a resident population exceeding three hundred million. Its population density ranks within the top five globally.
Despite various policies the government has repeatedly introduced over the years and the effort to discourage citizens from flocking to the capital, they have been minimally effective.
The reasons for this are complex, involving both human nature and historical factors.
The difficulty of managing such a vast city is easily imaginable.
Changan is divided into 36 administrative districts, and the "Qishan District" where Ji Xinghuo lives is located to the west, more than a hundred kilometers from the city center.
After twenty minutes, the car left the Superconductive Highway, taking an exit ramp not far from its destination.
Ji Xinghuo alighted from the car and looked up at the building in front of him.
This was a sports stadium.
The stadium, situated on the northern bank of the Wei River, had a very unique design. The main structure resembled a rhombus-shaped spaceship speeding through the cosmos, with sharp edges and silver-gray glass covering the exterior walls that shimmered resplendently in the sunlight, making it one of the landmark buildings of the capital.
The "Tianqin National Stadium" occupied over one hundred and fifty thousand square meters but was only twenty stories tall, a luxury in the heart of the densely-built Chang'an City Center.
This stadium is considered sacred ground by countless people nationwide and even worldwide.
Because it is the home field for several teams of the Asia-Pacific "Super League" and "Class A League."
Here, multiple artistic and sporting events are held every week, including several "International Invitationals" and two "Super World Cups," showcasing many battles that people joyfully recount to this day and producing many world champions of great renown.
Ji Xinghuo had previously attended matches here.
However, he was here today to undergo physical fitness testing. The Tianqin Stadium is a public facility, and the Star Realm Department has established a "Mutant Service Center" within it.
Ji Xinghuo entered through the main door, with floors one to five on the west side of the venue belonging to the Mutant Service Center, bustling with people. Most were young, like himself, there to undergo physical testing. Some were nervous, others calm, but all had eyes filled with anticipation.
He had made an appointment for the service the night before and, following the signs, made his way to the second floor.
Soon, Ji Xinghuo approached a counter.
"Ji Xinghuo."
A female staff member in a white uniform read out the name. When she saw the photo on the screen, she instinctively looked up, covertly taking a quick glance at Ji Xinghuo, smiled, and asked, "Mr. Ji, you're here for the physical fitness test?"
"Yes," Ji Xinghuo nodded.
"Please verify your identity," the staff member said with rare enthusiasm.
Ji Xinghuo stepped into the designated area on the floor as instructed, and a ring-shaped device scanned him from head to toe, also collecting a few milliliters of blood for doping and genetic testing.
"Mr. Ji, please proceed to the waiting area and rest. The results will be out shortly."
Ji Xinghuo sat down in the waiting area, appearing calm and collected, but inside he was somewhat anxious.
The scan he'd just undergone was a crucial step, confirming the applicant's information to prevent the theft of citizen identities and fraudulent claiming of Alien Species.
With today's advanced biotechnology, impersonating another person could be nearly indistinguishable from reality.
Disguising appearance and physique was the simplest part, and facial recognition, fingerprints, voice, and even iris patterns can be faked. Even the most secure method, genetic sequencing, could be perfectly replicated if someone was willing to pay enough.
There have been historical instances of such fraud, with a group using genetic technology to deceive the Mutant Service Center and fraudulently claim a series of high-quality Alien Species.
Since then, identity verification has become much stricter.
There were no issues with Ji Xinghuo's identity. His concern was about the impact of the Wanxiang Star Pupil, especially the iris information of his right eye. If it didn't match, it would cause trouble. He had observed it for a long time the previous night; unless he deliberately revealed it, the luminous ring on his right pupil would not appear. Yet, there was always the fear of the unexpected.
Fortunately, a few minutes later, he received a notification.
Identity verification passed!
Ji Xinghuo breathed a sigh of relief and stood up to head to the testing area.
The tests set up by the Star Realm Department consisted of four parts: strength, speed, endurance, and will. Only the first three were directly related to physical fitness. While a strong physique could foster a stronger will, there were exceptions.
The passing standards for each test varied.
Meeting the standards in any one category was sufficient to qualify for application for an Alien Species.
The better the test results, the higher the score; the more categories passed, the overall rating also increased, enabling the application for a higher grade of Alien Species.
Ji Xinghuo chose two tests: strength and speed.
He first headed to the Strength Hall.
The hall resembled an enormous gym with rows of barbells and racks. Several individuals were already being tested under the supervision of examiners while others warmed up or watched nearby. Regardless of gender, everyone there had very robust physiques with clear signs of training.
