Chapter 2: Chapter 1 The Big Bang_2
The Star Realm is not as empty and lonely as space; it is a world brimming with life.
The vast Star Realm nurtures countless species, so numerous and diverse that it far surpasses any single ecological planet. Earth is just a drop in the ocean in comparison; the evolution speed and intensity of the Star Realm species are millions of times that of Earth's biosphere!
There are also many intelligent races in the Star Realm, which have given birth to civilizations far more powerful than those on Earth.
The opening of the Star Gate brought an unprecedented catastrophe to humanity, which was completely unprepared. Alien Race invasions, nuclear wars, the Third and Fourth World Wars, and nearly two centuries of global turmoil and extinction crisis have completely rewritten the destiny and civilization path of all humanity.
Now it is the 23rd century, and Earth has reshaped its order and structure.
Humans have long adapted to the existence of the Star Realm and have used its unique resources to promote rapid technological development and significantly improve productivity.
But, the most significant impact on humanity has been those supernatural powers from the Star Realm.
People are accustomed to calling them "Abilities."
In the Star Realm, whether it is the intelligent civilized races or the low-level lifeforms akin to wild beasts, individuals with powerful strength are born.
Their powers each differ, controlling thunder, possessing incredible strength, changing shape, invisibility, flight, and so on. These are just the most common Abilities, and there are many more mysterious and strange powers. The further one goes on the path of life evolution, the stronger the Ability becomes, and even the lifespan will increase accordingly!
Killing creatures of the Star Realm gives one the chance to obtain their Abilities.
And those that carry Abilities are the Alien Species!
Humans are not born with supernatural powers, but by merging with an Alien Species, one can also master Abilities, thus achieving life evolution.
In the "Star Gate Era," humans were able to repel the invasion of Alien Races from the Star Realm, not only because they were ready to perish together with nuclear weapons, but also because some forerunners mastered Abilities and evolved step by step, gaining strength to contend with the powerful of the Alien Races in the Star Realm.
To date, out of a global population of over forty billion, more than two billion individuals with Abilities, the "Mutants," have emerged.
Ji Xinghuo is not a Mutant, but he has a deep understanding of Alien Species.
In this century, everyone has learned more or less about Alien Species and has also come into contact with them in reality.
Alien Species are not only born within the bodies of Star Realm creatures but can also form in the natural environment of the Star Realm. With varying forms such as plant fruits, roots, mineral-like gemstones, energy crystals, and many more odd and strange Alien Species, it's often difficult to identify them.
The "Star Realm Defense Council," with branches in every country around the world, has created the largest database of Alien Species on Earth.
Ji Xinghuo has carefully reviewed more than 12,000 Alien Species in the database, especially comparing hundreds of gemstone-shaped species.
However, none matched the gemstone in his hand. Not only did the appearance not match, but the gemstone also lacked the general characteristics of Alien Species.
All Alien Species exhibit "vitality."
Ji Xinghuo has come into contact with Alien Species a few times. No matter the form, once an Alien Species is held in the hand, its "vitality" is easily felt, similar to an egg about to hatch, with an abundance of life force that can be clearly sensed without any special attempt to discern.
Yet he felt no such vitality in the gemstone – it was clearly an inanimate object.
Therefore, he initially dismissed the idea that it was an Alien Species.
But now...
"Nothing is absolute." Ji Xinghuo now thought he might have been wrong, his eyes fixed intently on the gemstone in his palm, "Perhaps it is one of the rare exceptions, appearing dead but, in fact, is an extremely rare Alien Species."
If it is an Alien Species, then it can be merged.
There is no clear standard for whether a human can merge with an Alien Species. In general, the better the physical fitness, the higher the Fusion Success Rate.
Ji Xinghuo stood up.
He looked towards the training room connected to the bedroom, where the mirror on the opposite wall reflected his figure.
Standing exactly 1.8 meters tall, he was neither tall nor short among adult men, just two to three centimeters above average height. However, his well-proportioned and slender build approached the golden ratio between the upper and lower body, with broad shoulders and an arm span of nearly two meters. Long hands and legs, his muscular body was filled with notable Explosive Power.
This was the result of many years of training.
To pursue Strength and become a Mutant, everybody on Earth engages in fitness.
This is especially true for the young who are full of hope for the future; each one is highly motivated, with many starting their daily workouts at the gym from their teens, engaging in various forms of physical fitness training in preparation for merging with an Alien Species.
So did Ji Xinghuo.
He started training at fifteen and had hardly ever slackened; it's been seven years now.
Although he has not yet become a Mutant, Ji Xinghuo possesses strong confidence that, as long as the Level of the Alien Species he merges with is not particularly high, or its Ability is not extremely peculiar, his Fusion Success Rate is at least above 80%.
"I had planned to continue training for another year or two after graduation and then take the physical fitness test to apply for a Transcendent Level Alien Species."
"Now, however, I have to merge with an unknown Alien Species..."
Ji Xinghuo showed a hint of hesitation.
As a citizen of the "Asia-Pacific Community," after reaching adulthood and passing any one of the four physical fitness tests, one can get an Alien Species for free and attempt to fuse into a Mutant.
This is the benefit for every "Asia-Pacific Community" citizen, giving everyone a fair opportunity provided by the state.
If the fusion fails, not only is there no need for any compensation, but one can also enjoy free medical services during the recovery period at the best public hospitals.
