Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Modern People Are Terrifying
```
Upon reaching the fifteenth floor of the television building, a junior staff member came to lead He Jinxia.
The junior staff was fairly courteous as he brought her into a waiting room and asked her to wait.
There were already two stars in the waiting room, one male and one female.
When they saw someone entering, they both looked towards the door, but upon recognizing it was He Jinxia, they immediately shifted their gaze away with disinterest.
After the door had closed, the female star sitting across from He Jinxia muttered, "Nowadays, anyone can get on a second-tier variety show, this program might not last."
The voice was barely audible, but He Jinxia "read" it nonetheless.
He Jinxia retracted her gaze, tiredly rubbing her temples.
She was adept at lip-reading, a skill she had mastered in her previous life, and it turned out that she had brought this ability with her even after transmigrating.
However, the languages were completely different between her last life and this one, she had not yet adapted, and deciphering them was quite tiring.
The three people sat in the waiting room, either daydreaming or playing with their phones.
He Jinxia, on the other hand, was diligently reading her script, which contained some movement and procedure notes.
The program crew had initially wanted to provide He Jinxia with the letter she would need to read on air, but Luo You declined on her behalf, suggesting she write it herself.
This way, there wouldn't be a backlash from the audience perceiving the letter's content as too official and fake upon broadcast, which could lead to mockery towards the stars.
There had been incidents like this before, so naturally, Luo You wouldn't let He Jinxia repeat the same mistake.
In order to write a letter that fit with Hua Country's spoken language, He Jinxia had been pondering over it for days, feeling as if her brain cells had been reorganized again and again.
But it was precisely this constant pondering that had helped her integrate better into the culture of Hua Country.
Gradually, a half-hour went by.
The female star began to show some impatience, an obvious look of irritation on her face, occasionally throwing her phone onto the couch.
Soon, an hour had passed.
Even the male star, who had been daydreaming, started to grow restless and asked, "There's another male guest coming, do you know who it is?"
The female star shook her head, "I don't know, but it's supposed to be a big name."
He Jinxia pondered for a moment, having watched several episodes of "Letter to Future Self" before coming here, she knew that each episode would feature a popular young actor
Although these young actors weren't top-tier celebrities, they all had considerable popularity, commonly referred to as the current hot "fried chicks."
If they starred in an outstanding work, they might very well shoot to the top of the A-list.
In her ear, the female star's complaining voice arose, "Even if his status is higher than ours, he shouldn't be this late. I still have a schedule to catch, isn't our time money too..."
A low pressure began to pervade the entire waiting room, as everyone suppressed their fury and endured.
In this tense atmosphere, another half-hour ticked away.
The female star glanced at her phone, her expression turned ugly and she could no longer hold back. With a swoosh, she stood up and walked out without saying a word.
As she reached the door, suddenly, it swung open from the outside.
A man walked in, wearing sunglasses, his hair dyed chestnut, and dressed in full punk attire, exuding an overwhelming presence.
The female star froze, then the next second, she screamed.
"Zhang You! You're Zhang You! Ah, I'm your fan, I can't believe I'm seeing you in person!"
The piercing shrillness of the woman's voice gave He Jinxia a throbbing headache; in the past, even if the young masters were fond of someone, they behaved with moderation and decorum instead of screaming at will.
Terrifying.
Modern people truly are terrifying.
Zhang You raised an eyebrow, took off his sunglasses revealing that delicately handsome face which was no less pretty than a woman's, and extended his hand with a trace of arrogance, "Hello."
The female star, looking starstruck and adoring, happily shook his hand, showering him with compliments.
```
The male celebrities couldn't sit still anymore and quickly got up and walked over, saying, "Hello Zhang You, I especially like your recently released album 'Letter to Future Self,' it sounds great."
"Zhang You, Zhang You, I heard you have a new song coming out next month, is that true?"
"Of course it's true, when has God Zhang ever lied to his fans?" another male celebrity answered.
The two of them buzzed around Zhang You non-stop, and as for the impatient look they had while waiting?
It was long gone and thrown god knows where!
Zhang You remained composed as they crowded around him, but He Jinxia's "uniqueness" did catch his attention for a moment.
However, when he saw how overweight she was, a look of disdain crossed his face, and he paid her no further attention.
He Jinxia, of course, didn't notice any of this, still focusing intently on the script—as it was her first time on a program since crossing over, she couldn't help but take it seriously.
Before long, the assistant who had led them over appeared, asking them to go to the studio to run through the process.
Once they reached the studio, the four of them found their seats. As it happened, He Jinxia was seated next to Zhang You, with the female celebrity sitting next to the other male celebrity.
Sitting face to face, the female celebrity glanced over and her expression flickered, immediately raising an objection and asking to switch seats.
"Director, I'm a fan of brother Zhang You, I can sing every one of his songs. Could you please give me a chance to sit closer to my idol?"
She looked at Zhang You with a shy face, speaking earnestly and sincerely, the very image of a true fan.
He Jinxia looked at the expressions of the female celebrity and thought that if she devoted as much effort to her acting as she did to her scheming, she probably wouldn't be stuck as a lukewarm presence on the second tier.
While waiting, apart from reading the script, she also sent several messages to Luo You, asking him to send her the information on the program's guests.
She didn't tell Luo You any specific names, which was also a way of testing his abilities.
In fact, she didn't know the names of the others either.
Luo You didn't disappoint her, digging up information on all the guests, even on Zhang You.
It could be said, apart from the staff, He Jinxia was the person at the scene who knew the most about these three guests' achievements in the entertainment circle.
In the studio, the director glanced at He Jinxia and Ji Jiawen before finally resting his eyes on Zhang You.
Zhang You's lips curved into an impeccable smile and he said, "I'm fine with anything, I'll follow the director's decision."
After some thought, the director said, "Who sits with whom doesn't affect the process later on, you all can discuss it amongst yourselves."
Seeing this, Ji Jiawen quickly trotted over and stood in front of He Jinxia, and said with utmost sincerity:
"He Jinxia, I beg you to give me the chance to sit next to brother Zhang You.
Zhang You has always been the person I look up to. It's rare to be able to record a show with my idol, and I... sorry, I'm just too excited, I want to sit with my idol."
The message was so direct, it was just shy of outright saying "Please give me the chance."
Zhang You's popularity was soaring, anything he did was a hot topic.
As long as you sat next to Zhang You and seized the opportunity, you might headline the news.
What did headlines represent? They represented immense popularity, huge exposure, and extremely high! Visibility!
Everyone knew what choice to make, of course, the answer was no!
But Ji Jiawen was adamant, clearly determined to seize this opportunity.
Everyone's gaze fell on He Jinxia, looking on as if watching a spectacle.
Zhang You even slightly curled his lips, a trace of interest flashing in his eyes, curious to know how she would respond.
Just as everyone thought the two women were about to clash, He Jinxia suddenly curved her lips into a smile, laughing softly.
The plump and bloated face couldn't hide her bright eyes, as dazzling as the morning stars, leaving a stunning impression in everyone's hearts.
The next second, her crisp voice echoed through the entire studio—
"Sure."
