Chapter 6: INTERNET FRENZY II
Ethan was having breakfast with his family but still could not believe what was happening. The whole family could not believe it either, with his mom praying, his dad just blanked out eating his toast and eggs, and his little sister on her phone doing God knows what.
His sister being able to use her phone in the dining room without their mom chewing her out should be enough reason to show you how the whole thing affected the family of 4. "Okay everyone, I know this morning caught us all off guard, but let's calm down and figure out our next step," his dad finally said after he finished staring into space, "and Precious, would you please put your phone down?" he continued.
"Yes, that's true. What were you even doing anyways?" his mom chimed in after her prayer. "I was online just checking the comments and all." "Wait, are we not going to talk about the elephant in the room? Ethan is a fucking star right now." "Language, young lady," his mom shouted. "Sorry, but this is just insane. His video has 11 million views already." "11 million? Really? Wasn't it just 9 a few minutes ago?" Ethan finally spoke, "Yes, that's why I'm saying it's insane; this has to have broken a record or something." His sister followed up.
"Okay, I get it's all happening fast, but we need to all calm down and figure out what to do next," his father said, taking back control of the conversation. "Well, has Bill sent his resume already? Let's start with that first," Emily said. "Yes, yes, he did, super fast, I might add." Ethan said, "Well then what are you waiting for? Open it up." His sister said, "Young lady, it's breakfast. Eat first of all, "his mom said.
"Okay let's eat," his dad said.
When the family of four was done eating and tidying up the place by washing their plates and all, they all found themselves sitting in the parlour. "Well, open it up, boy," his father said. So uncharacteristic of him, Ethan pulled out his phone and opened his mail. There he saw bills. He clicked it, downloaded the PDF file, and he was blown way. "Wow, Dad, did you know Paul's dad had this many lients?" Ethan said he had been blown away by Bill's list of clients.
"No, I just know he is a successful agent, that's all. How many clients does he have? "his dad asked. "31, Dad, 31, and some of them are popular. You know that man in the telenovela Mom likes?" "Do you mean money doesn't grow on trees?" his sister said. "Yeah, that show, the Savino character, Bill is an agent." "Wow," that's all his mom said.
"Yeah, and there are others, the guy on the couch adds. He continued, "You mean the one where it starts with him being in his office?" his dad asked. "Those coaches look super comfortable, "his mom followed. "Give me that," his sister said, dragging the phone off him.
"OMG, he represents Crystal," his sister said, visibly excited. "Who's that?" he asked. "She is this influencer. She is massive, massive." "No wonder he was that rich," Adam said.
"Well, if he represents all these people, I don't see why not to sign with him." His mom said, "The ball is in your court, son. It's your choice." His dad said making Ethan happy but also all the more pressured, "Wait, checking through his resume, he doesn't have any singer under him," his sis said, having noticed something.
"Wait, really?" He asked, "Yeah, no one singer is here." His sister answered, "Hmm, maybe he wanted to step into the music scene, and he came across you," his mom said. "That would explain why he was being a little extra pushy," his dad said. "Well, what do you want to do, Ethan? It's your call," continued his dad, clearly showing that this was his decision to make.
"I know Mr. Bill; he is a good man who helped us out a lot when we first moved here; plus, his wife is such a lovely lady. I feel you should allow him to say his piece," said his mom, advocating for Bill. "Okay, Mom, I'm going to have a talk with him; Dad, please can you join the call with me?" Ethan said, wanting to put his dad in the fold, "No problem, son. I'm always here." His dad said, very happy his son asked for his help.
"Well—" before he could finish, his phone that was in the hands of his sister just started going nuts, just started pinging and pinging. He took it from her hands and checked to see what it was. It was Twitter and Instagram notifications. He tried opening the app to see what was happening, and his phone actually hung. That's surprising; this was the new iPhone 12. He hadn't even paid for it yet, and now it's hanging.
"What's wrong with your phone?" his dad asked. "I don't know; notifications started coming up, and it just froze," he answered. "I think I know what's wrong," his sister said, holding her phone. "Well, what is it? Has Ethan been hacked?" his mom said, afraid that someone was after her son. "Hacked? What? No, Mom, someone online found out Ethan's handles online, and people are blowing it up."
"That's impossible; I don't even use my name," he argued, clearly not believing someone could find his handles. He knew the stress he went through to keep himself hidden. "Well, you better believe it; check." His sister handed him her phone; while holding it, he checked his own, which was still unresponsive, then he looked at hers again and saw she was on this guy's page name (find all).
This guy clearly exposed him, ruining all his years of effort to stay invincible. He felt he just found his mortal enemy. "Well, not like it wasn't going to happen any day now, considering you want to be a star," his sister said, never getting his obsession with being anonymous. 'She did have a point,' Ethan thought, but he didn't want to let up his hate; he needed someone to blame, and this (find all) person was going to be his scapegoat. He saw the person himself was anonymous. Well, since he brought him into the light, then it's only fair he did the same.
in his brother's study in New York Jacob, feeling proud for having uncovered Ethan, suddenly felt a chill go up his spine. 'What's that? Who is talking about me?' he thought, but not heavily on it, and went back to his food.
Ethan, having calmed down, checked his Twitter page. He had to use his dad's phone, who, funny enough, had a Twitter account when his mom or sister didn't. "What? I'm modern," his dad said when the two women he cared for the most in his life kept looking at him weirdly.
Ethan, not paying much attention to that, checked on his page, and what he saw shocked him.
