Superman's Saiyan little brother

Chapter 423: Chapter 423: Darkness and Thunder

Tohru knew that without consuming enough shadows, the shadow soldiers' strength was lacking. However, a sufficient quantity could lead to qualitative changes. If Thor couldn't consistently and accurately kill each shadow soldier, the Hydra soldiers in the base would suffer heavy losses, presenting an opportunity for Tohru to act.

But now, with Thor's swift elimination of the shadow soldiers, Tohru realized Thor was more troublesome than anticipated. He reconsidered his approach, deciding he wasn't confident enough to overpower Thor immediately.

"No, I can't just go in like this. Thor might be stronger than I thought. I need to enhance my power!" Tohru's eyes flickered as he adjusted his plan. No one knew he had retreated in the face of Thor's strength.

With a hum, Tohru's figure disappeared into the darkness, heading to a new destination—places with many people but not too conspicuous.

"Have they given up or are they all dead?" Thor frowned, observing that no more shadow soldiers appeared. Their strength was not remarkable, but their abilities were troublesome.

If these shadow soldiers could continuously emerge, it would disrupt the entire base's order, requiring significant effort to monitor and combat them.

"We should patrol in pairs," Sif suggested, frowning at the Asgardian Warriors Three. "The remaining soldiers aren't strong enough to deal with these shadow creatures on a large scale. Only we can do that. To maintain the base's order, we're the best fit."

"Agreed," Thor nodded, assigning the task to the Asgardian Four. Besides them, the beast warriors had combat limitations and lacked appropriate killing methods. The super soldiers also needed time to deal with the shadow soldiers.

Unaware that Tohru had retreated, Thor entrusted the base's defense to his most trusted team.

Meanwhile, Tohru targeted another Hydra base, belonging to Alexander Pierce's faction, not his own.

Despite both being Hydra, Tohru showed no mercy. He unleashed shadow soldiers to invade the base, consuming the shadows of Pierce's Hydra soldiers.

With the shadows gone, these soldiers fell into comas, while the shadow soldiers grew larger and stronger, rising from the weakest to the strongest in the Shadow Legion.

However, one base's shadows weren't enough. Pierce's bases were spread out, so Tohru needed more places to strengthen his shadow soldiers.

Tohru didn't solely target Pierce's Hydra. Repeated attacks would eventually alert Pierce, prompting precautions. Tohru sought other organizations with scattered bases to continue enhancing his soldiers.

Tohru avoided populous urban areas to prevent drawing too much attention. Despite his new power, he didn't want to provoke enemies like Clark and Robert, whom he considered nearly invincible.

If shadow attacks caused mass comas in cities, it would inevitably attract attention, potentially bringing Clark and Robert down on him.

Tohru's strategy worked. While he caught the attention of various official factions, he didn't attract Clark or the Avengers' notice.

Even Tony Stark, informed by JARVIS about shadow-related comas, lost interest upon realizing the incidents occurred in secret bases, not affecting civilians. Stark cared about protecting the public, not those in secret bases.

Thus, while S.H.I.E.L.D., the Eye of the Sky, and military factions, including Hydra, responded angrily, Tohru's shadow soldiers vanished again after Tohru successfully empowered them for a confrontation with Thor.

However, news of soldiers losing shadows and falling into comas eventually leaked.

"So, these shadow attacks are happening not just here, but in other Hydra bases and even official bases? Those affected fell into comas? This means the shadows aren't just targeting us; their goal is everyone?" Thor's face grew serious upon learning this.

"Everyone, be extra vigilant, especially about shadows. I don't know how the shadows disappear, but it can't be completely silent..."

"Boom!" As Thor was instructing his men, a series of explosions echoed through the base, sounding like a demolition crew at work.

With a flash of lightning, Thor disappeared, Mjolnir in hand.

Mjolnir had been kept by Thor's seat in the Hydra base. Some had tried to lift it, drawn by its power, but none succeeded, and Thor had killed those who tried. Since then, no one dared show interest in Mjolnir.

"Bang!" Thor arrived at the commotion, finding Sif fighting shadow soldiers with her sword. These shadow soldiers had grown monstrous, larger than beast warriors and terrifyingly powerful.

Several shadow soldiers temporarily overwhelmed Sif. The Warriors Three also faced groups of shadow soldiers, caught in a struggle.

"Something's wrong! Sif's combat strength isn't right!" Thor quickly noticed. Sif and the others had significantly enhanced their strength after injecting the Super Soldier Serum, but their current performance seemed weakened.

Even their weapons, infused with divine power, didn't make a difference.

"Thor, be careful! These creatures can consume shadows! Protect yourself with divine power, or you'll weaken if your shadow is devoured!" Sif warned Thor, fearing he might be caught off guard.

Sif and the others didn't mind their own weakened shadows, but if Thor was affected, no one could handle the shadow soldiers.

Especially since the shadow soldiers seemed like mere minions, likely directed by someone. If Thor fell, no one could confront the mastermind.

"Shit!" Thor reacted swiftly, but a group of small shadow soldiers lunged at his shadow, gnawing at it.

Despite Mjolnir's lightning power destroying the shadow soldiers instantly, Thor felt weakened, his consciousness blurring.

"Swish!" At that moment, a shadowy figure punched towards Thor.

"Bang!" Thor's instincts kicked in, meeting the punch with his own, but he was sent flying.

"So, this is all you got? If I'd known, I wouldn't have wasted so much time. I could've dealt with you directly!" Tohru, wearing the shadow mask, emerged, taunting Thor as he lay on the ground.

Initially wary of Thor, Tohru had retreated, but now he felt he could have confronted Thor head-on, using shadow soldiers for a surprise attack.

Still, Tohru's sudden appearance shocked the Hydra soldiers. They hadn't expected Thor, seemingly invincible, to be so easily knocked down.

More surprising was recognizing Tohru despite the mask. His distinctive red hair gave him away.

"Tohru?!" Thor, rising, stared at Tohru. "You're alive?"

"Disappointed? I didn't expect my obedient dog to become Hydra's new leader and not even show loyalty upon my return. So, you're fully betraying me?" Tohru taunted.

"You're alive, so what? You've gained new abilities, but it doesn't mean you can beat me!" Thor retorted, hurling Mjolnir at Tohru.

In that moment, more shadow soldiers lunged at Thor, exploiting the distraction to attack and consume his soul.

But Thor, now able to wield lightning power without Mjolnir, defended himself, preventing the shadow soldiers from devouring his soul.

"Swish!" Tohru, however, evaded Mjolnir, becoming a shadow and disappearing, dodging the attack.

"Bang!" Tohru reappeared, kicking Thor away. But as he pursued, he felt lightning energy slowing his attack.

"Zzzzt!" Dark and lightning forces clashed until Tohru's darkness overwhelmed the lightning. But by then, Mjolnir struck Tohru, sending him flying.

Thor then summoned Mjolnir atop Tohru, pinning him down like a mountain.

"Humph, you think you can move Mjolnir? You're not worthy!" Thor mocked, standing over Tohru.
