Chapter 6: Jadeskin and Hunting place
"Mutant creature, Golden Blood Snake, killed. Golden Blood Snake mutant beast soul gained. Consume the Golden Blood Snake to randomly acquire zero to ten mutant geno points."
"Finally, after slaying three mutant creatures, I've obtained a devil soul." I had been hunting in this area for nearly two days, and finding just three mutant creatures had tested my patience. But at last, the devil soul was mine!
It was almost time for the person I was waiting for to arrive. With that thought in mind, I packed away the Golden Blood Snake, which barely fit in my bag. Thankfully, I had finished the previous mutant meat; otherwise, carrying it all would have been impossible.
Afterward, I climbed onto a nearby tree and settled on one of its branches, camouflaging myself behind the leaves. I waited there for what felt like half a day before finally spotting my target.
A young man approached, clad in ragged clothes and covered in cuts and bruises, looking utterly worn out as he made his way toward the pond.
It's the person who was killed by Hansen in the original tale and, in a twist of fate, gained his coveted jadeskin. As I yearn to master the hyper geno art that Hansen that Hansen mastered or he ultimately ignored, and I knew I had to begin with the jadeskin, a key to unlocking unimaginable power.
The moment that individual ventured close to the pond, I steeled myself for action. With a single, fluid motion, I leapt from the branch, the wind rushing past me as I summoned four of my most formidable devil souls: the shimmering golden blood armor that enveloped me in protective glory, the vicious bloody slayer eager for battle, the lightning-fast speed glyph that heightened my speed, and my recently acquired Golden Blood Snake Spear, a weapon imbued with the strength of a sacred blood creature and with unwavering aim, I thrust my spear toward him.
This entire sequence unfolded within the brief span of two seconds, leaving little room for reaction. He barely had time to register his impending doom before my spear found its mark, piercing through his skull. His eyes widened in shock and disbelief as he vanished from this world, leaving behind only silence.
This marked my first foray into taking a human life since my arrival in this ruthless realm, yet strangely, no pang of guilt washed over me. Deep down, I understood that this person was no beacon of virtue; he was a harbinger of malice, I am not a innocent person myself. Having served as a soldier in the military before my rebirth, I was well-versed in the grim realities of death and destruction; it was a familiar dance, one I had learned all too well.
After killing that person I went near him and started to check it's body, I finally found a wallet which contained and ID card and some premium credit cards. And a memory chip, which I knew contained the instructions for the Jade Skin Hyper Geno Art. I quickly pocketed the Geno Art memory chip an read over the information on the ID. Xue Longyan was the name of the person he had killed, I didn't remembered his name since he shown fo 1 or 2 chapters.
After that I only kept memory cheap and for the other things, they are now deep inside the pond. Once everything was done, I went back to the shelter.
....
As soon as I stepped into the shelter, I was greeted by the buzz of lively chatter about the recent event involving the Son of Heaven, who had lost his mount and, in a reckless moment, had summoned a devil soul, only to be robbed of his hard-earned kill by someone known as Dollar. It was clear that even in my haste to escape, someone had taken note of my golden armor. I couldn't help but wonder what expression the Son of Heaven must have worn in that moment—I wished I had caught a glimpse.
Once I returned to my room, I immediately checked on the Swift Mantis. To my delight, it had already evolved into a mutant creature. Now, seeking out and exterminating mutant creatures would be a piece of cake. For the time being, I decided to put the Swift Mantis aside and allow it to continue evolving into a Sacred Blood form. Meanwhile, I planned to contact Xu Xiaoqiao, going by the name Dollar, as I needed to sell the Golden Blood Snake. It was far too large for me to consume quickly.
...
Once I returned from selling mutant meat, I began to recall the best hunting spots near the Steel Armor Shelter from the original. Two places sprang to mind.
One was the Devil Desert, and the other was a nearby mountain. Both locations are in close proximity to the Steel Armor Shelter.
After some contemplation, I decided to head straight to the mountain area to hunt. In the original story, Hansen and Lin Beifeng ventured there to pursue phantom ants. These mutant ants were only the size of mice, making them easier to find compared to the elusive small creatures that inhabit the Devil Desert.
After deciding on my destination, I returned to the Alliance and made my way home. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by my adorable little sister. I had embraced this new family as my own, and Han Yan was a delightful and lovable presence.
"Brother, are you here?" Han Yan called out, peeking through the door in her floral pajamas, clutching a doll tightly.
Upon spotting Han Sen sitting on the bed, she raced over and leaned against him, her doll nestled in her arms.
"Naughty girl, why are you still up?" Han Sen teased, playfully pinching her small nose.
"Yan wants to listen to a story! It's been forever since you told me one, and I've missed you so much since you've been gone," Han Yan said, her eyes shimmering with anticipation.
'I told you a story just before I went off to steal a kill,' I thought to myself, yet I couldn't resist spending time with her. After indulging her, I dedicated some time to learning jadeskin. Two days later, I finally returned to the shelter and set out for that particular mountain.
With the help of the intuitive system navigation, it was not hard for me to pinpoint the exact location. The GPS coordinates pulsated on System like a beacon, guiding me closer to my destination.
As I approached the towering mountain I scanned the surrounding landscape. My heart raced with anticipation, but as I searched in all directions, a wave of disappointment washed over me — there was not a single ant in sight.
With a hint of frustration creeping in, I muttered to myself, "Hey system, are you absolutely sure this is the right place?"
